DIVISION ONE

Had a bye

DIVISION TWO

Played away at Gawler and came home with the two points, winning 9-5 but had to come from behind to do it, going into the ninth down 3-5.  Six runs in the last did the trick on the back of some good swinging.  Jimmy Chu got three hits for the day, Brayden Marchioro, Mitch Fienemann and Tom Dineen got two each, and Joel Chapman, Ethan Marchioro and Jarrod Marsland each got one.  Will Kortekaas pitched six solid innings with heaps of strikes, Andrew Chapman relieved for two, and Joel Chapman blew them away in the last for the win.  Good job.

DIV FIVE

Had a bit of trouble with a very experienced and big hitting East Torrens outfit, losing by a fair margin.  However our boys stuck it out and some of the youngsters showed plenty of promise.  New guy Adrian Philps led the hits with two, and Harrison Kiss, David Lodge, Peter Drover and Owen Williams had one.  We tried a variety of pitchers, but couldn't curtail their hitters.

DIV SIX

Got back on the winners list with a 8-6 win over Goodwood in a game that produced several good highlights.  Marso pitched really well and was backed up by Behr, and unfortunately I lost my list of hits so I will merely say "all batted well".

DIV SEVEN

Showing some good form with Casey back on the mound and Chem behind the plate.  Casey pitched his full count and did superbly, and Derek and Flash did the rest.  We won 13-12 over Goodwood with Casey Moore hitting three times, Shane Lavita twice, and Noel Watson, Derek Milne, Craig Mortimore, Shane Lodge, Laurie Sinclair and Mike Chemny once.  Tim Russell didn't trouble the scorers.

Women's League

Played last years premiers, Glenelg and while we ran them real close in a final last season, we couldn't do it this time and disappointingly lost 4-14.  However, no way can we be low for long, as these girls make up a fine team that will bounce back in a big way.  It's such a shame that the majority of games are scheduled for West Beach, as a fantastic Club atmosphere was being found in these Ladies' games.  Hits: Alyssa Lasscock 2, Carly Moore, Rachel Coutie and Megan Brownbill 1.

Junior League  -  (U15

Defeated Golden Grove 11-6 with Zach getting a hit and Beau two, and Toby Kortekaas doing a fine job behind the plate.  A four run dig in the third was a big contributor to the win.

Little League (U13) Senators - 18-18

A draw against Goodwood with Jack's hit scoring the tying run, and Vince and Dakota also hitting.  The battery of Ollie to Jack proved to be the successful combination.

Little League (U13) Woodville

Woodville lost 5-12 to Sturt with Tucker, Oliver H and Noah hitting and also claiming a couple of strikeouts.  Aleesha pitched for the first time and Rheese was promising getting bat on ball.

Minors (U11)

Clocked up a win over the Angels 7-5. Terrific game of junior baseball played in the right spirit with Jason having two hits, Chase, Archie and Owen one.  Archie and Chase each struck out three and Remy got one.

DIVISION ONE at HOME v Glenelg 11.10.20

Lost 4-5

The long awaited season kicked off with Joel Chapman on the mound powering them down to his brother Andrew with Daniel at first and Ryan Muggleton positioned at third - certainly a different look from previous seasons. There was also a strange feeling in not seeing the familiar face of Gary Owens at centre-field, stuck in Germany due to Covid restrictions.  We scored in the first, with some handy hitting from Muggsy, Daniel and Abbey, but held the ascendancy only briefly and went into the third tied away, and the Bay's bats came good to score three, but we hung in and got a couple back when Muggsy belted a double and Troy scored him.  Joel sat down after 6.2 solid innings - job well done - and Will Kortekaas took over and looked the goods.  We had a chance in the last only being one down but a tricky double play at the death put paid to our chances.  The new look is great, and the narrow loss was a bit of a disappointment, but these boys will be right in it this year, with twelve hits from our strong batting line-up being a good solid start, and Josh Tols raring to go from the hill.  Hits: Troy Nicholson 3, Ryan Muggleton, Nathan Nicholson, Andrew Chapman 2, Daniel Chapman, Craig Abbott, Wade Moore 1.

DIVISION TWO At HOME v Glenelg 11.10.20

Lost 6-7 Another good game of baseball, with new to the Club Tyson Hancock pitching, Mitchell Fienemann at third, and an assortment of familiar faces making up the rest of the team.  Bays scored early but we pegged them back and it was anybody's game until one of their guys put one over to give them a clear lead.  They walked us in a run and Mitch's little chopper scored us two and we were one behind going into the last, but, as in the Div One game, we couldn't get that vital run.  Onwards and upwards - Tyson showed terrific form for his four digs, and the hitting and defensive work was of a pretty high standard.  Hits: Todd Dunstall 3, Mitchell Fienemann, Rhys Owen, Tom Dineen, Harrison Kiss 1.

DIVISION FIVE

Played Glenelg at home and got the season up and running, but the power hitting of the Bays was too much, and Doggie, Owen and Dave, try as they did, couldn't stem the flow and we went down 1-19 with Sean Flintoff getting the only hit.

DIVISION SIX

Port got in front early and we managed to sneak back into the game and were one behind, but a line drive up the middle put a dampener on that and we recorded a 2-5 loss.  Troy Kortekaas and Behr shared the pitching duties and the hits were Nick McCormack 2 and Troy Kortekaas 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

One bad inning in defence was all it took to lose to Port 4-10, and the rest of the game was an even affair.  Some absentees from this game will make a difference next week and beyond.  Brad Atkinson and Aaron Petros pitched with Aaron and Shane Lodge getting two hits each, and Derek Milne, Brad Atkinson, Cam Britcher and Tim Fawcett one.

JUNIORS This season we have a team in Under 15 (Juniors) combined with the West Torrens Club, two Under 13 teams (Minors), and a Little League (Under 11) team, as well as a side in the Peewee League.  We look forward to some success from these teams and hope that the kids and parents have many enjoyable times.

GODANATS!
