WOODVILLE WOMAN'S DIVISION ONE

GRAND FINAL Sun March 22, 2026 v Adelaide     WON 12-1

Following on from the great success had at the Capps Medal night the previous Wednesday, the girls were raring to get out to the diamond and have a real good crack at back-to-back flags.  Seven of our team were given Team of the Year honours, one was Capps Medalist and batting and pitching champion (Alice Brown), Peyton won the RBI award, Beth was the Golden Glove infielder, Shane was the Coach and our scorer, Jo Owen, scorer of the year.  Not a bad nights work.

So we come to the game, held on a magnificent, bright sunny day at Bennett Field West Beach.  We got two in the first, benefitting from a nervous Adelaide error filled inning and a Peyton RBI, but our scoring dried up and when the Angels scored one in the third, Coach Brown decided enough was enough and had a bit of a chat to the girls.  The result was immediate as the maximum seven were posted in the fourth and the game was within our grasp.  Indy got us going with a single, then stole and scored on Beth's hit, Amara singled and Alice's high shot enabled another to come home, a passed ball added one, then Peyton's second double for the day scored.  They intentionally walked Carly (much to her chagrin), Dakota hit and Indy's RBI got another, Beth's second hit for the dig and a couple of fumbles scored two more.  In the meantime, Alice was pounding them down on her way to seven strikeouts and MVP status, before running out of pitches and allowing Peyton to close.  Three runs in the last - Alyssa came into the game and smashed one, Amara copped one and Alice hit her second double for the day, and Carly finished off with a single.

All in all, a fantastic way to complete the unbeaten season.  Accolades all round to the hard work the girls put in on the track, and the dedication of the coaching staff of Shane Brown, James and Ryan Stradling.  Hits  :  Peyton Daniels 3, Alice Brown, Indy O'Hazy-Zschorn, Beth Lee 2, Sarah McMahon, Amara Quinn, Carly Moore, Dakota Ding, Alyssa Lasscock 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE Sun 8.03.2026 at Don Klaebe Field v Adelaide     WON 12-4

This was the big one to go straight through to the Grand Final, so there were a few nerves to begin with and we allowed them to get on the board in the first with an error, but soon settled down and played the way we have all season.  The opposition were affected also, and gifted us three walks in our first dig and Carly drove in our first for the day with a hit up the middle.  The lead was increased in the third when Alice singled and once again came home on a Carly single, but four in the next and we were motoring.  Amara's double set the tone and an error and a steal and Smack's RBI, coupled with another error gave us four for the innings.  We were waiting for the Angels' girls to fire up, and they mounted a mini fightback with three runs in the fifth, but we countered with one more and hit our straps in the sixth and last with five to seal the deal - Alyssa walked, Carly singled, Amara hit, Beth copped a hit and Smack's double got three home.  No need for the last innings, as an eight run lead was unassailable. Alice gave us five first class innings, and Peyton came on in the last with no problems.  So it's on to the Grand Final in a fortnight at West Beach - let the better team win.  Hits  :  Sarah McMahon, Carly Moore, Amara Quinn 3, Dakota Ding, Alice Brown, Alyssa Lasscock 1.

DIVISION ONE Away v E. Torrens Sat 28 Feb 2026     WON 6-1

The Redsox crew worked hard to get the diamond ready for a crucial game, and after a slightly delayed start we went about winning a contest that would likely see us in finals or not.  We were hoping for a Port loss for us to sneak into sixth spot, but unfortunately for us, they won, so seventh for us.  Not to take away from our outstanding performance, allowing only one run against for the day, largely due to Jose Pimentel's efforts on the mound and solid batting.  We got cracking in the first when Jose C bunted, Wade walked and Jose P's double got one home.  Two more in the second off two doubles - Wade and Troy, and another in the fifth after they errored and Wade scored an RBI. The seventh gave us another after Jose C bunted again and scored on Jose P's RBI and a throwing error.  One in the last completed a very satisfactory game by our boys.  Jose Pimental must be the man of the match for his sterling effort.  Hits  :  Jose Castellano, Alfredo Rodriguez, Oliver Hayes 2, Wade Moore, Jose Pimentel, Troy Nicholson 1.  No finals this season - some costly losses earlier did the damage.

DIV TWO & DIV THREE didn't get to play due to the rain, and unfortunately will not participate in finals this year, as will DIV FIVE.

DIVISION SIX played against Adelaide in finals for the first time in a while, and went down 2-17 in a game that we had to fight out with only eight players.  The boys can be proud of their season in its entirety and the hits were Derek Milne, Nick McCormack, Brad Atkinson, Shane Lodge 1. Dave Ding carried the pitching all year, and will probable enjoy a rest.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE At Don Klaebe Field Sun Mar 1 2026 v Kensington     WON 13-0

Only got three completed innings before the rains came, but time had elapsed and time was called.  Pity that, because it left us agonisingly short of three hundred runs for the season.  First dig and three hits equated to three runs, but seven in the next off the back of Alyssa's double, two walks, Alice's big hit, and yet again another triple from Peyton and Dakota's contribution.  Alice pitched the first three, and Peyton came on in the truncated fourth.  Hits  :  Dakota Ding, Jemila Dadd 2, Alice Brown, Amara Quinn, Peyton Daniels 1.  Finals on next week v Adelaide at Woodville.

JUNIORS

U18 - First week of Junior finals away v GGCD and they played really well, losing to the top team 1-9.   Will Stock gave the home run fence a bit of a hammering.

U12 - Similar - lost to the top team, but gave them a real fright.

U10 - had a walkoff win with Jet knocking in the winning run

MASTERS won their final game for the season 4-2

GODANATS !!!
