**Big week in Baseball**

DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field Tue Twilight 3 Feb 2026  v Kensington     WON 6-0

Jammo gave nothing away in his six digs and really looked the goods.  We got cracking in the first when Jose C trebled and Wade's RBI put us on the board, but three in the next courtesy of a Papps walk, a Manny single and a Ryan sac fly, followed by a Jose C two run homer really set us up for the win.  The runs still came, in singles, but it was quite enough to finish in style with a fantastic double play at the end to snuff them out.  Hits  :  Jose Castellano (HR),  Wade Moore 2, Cesar Perez, Jose Pimentel, Callum Park, Joe Papps, Armando Ramirez, Ryan Straddling 1.

DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field Sat 7 Feb 2026 v Adelaide  Game One     WON 9-6

Game was tight as early, but the Angels broke through in the third with four runs, and AJ was having none of that, and tightened up to go on to record a meritorious win, throwing six innings with Jammo helping out in the last.  Game was on a tightrope until we busted out with Cesar, Wade and Hayden all getting on base and allowing Jose C to double and bring in two.  We repeated the dose in the sixth with Jose P and Ollie on base and Jose C's (again)  triple scoring two and Troy having a RBI of his own.  Very good win, and a tribute to our batters as well as the pitching staff.  Defensively, we were on song.  Hits :  Jose Castellano 4, Hayden Carroll, Wade Moore, Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson 2, Jose Pimentel, Oliver Hayes 1

DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field Sat 7 Feb 2026 v Adelaide Game Two     Lost 0-3

This snuffed out our five game winning streak, but was a fine contest, with both pitchers on top all game.  We had two scored against us in the first which proved to be crutial, and they got another in the last to make it look a bit better from their point of view.  From our perspective, Jose Pimentel lost no admirers and pitched a terrific seven innings.  In a tight game, we had our share of great moments with Ryan from leftfield chucking a guy out at second, and a double play towards the end to close their innings.  Hits  :  Jose Castellano 2, Wade Moore, Cesar Perez, Oliver Hayes 1.  Good to get the split, but two wins was the prefered option.

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field Sat Feb 7 2026 v Adelaide     Lost 5-15

We lost it at the top of the contest, allowing too many runs in, but the silver lining was the fact that for the rest of the outing we held our own, and in typical fashion of late there was no thought of capitulation.  Hits  :  Kosuke Ikeda 2, Armando Ramirez, Steve Goldspink 1

DIVISION THREE at Don Klaebe Field Sat Feb 7 2026 v Adelaide     Lost 1-9

A couple of debutants to senior baseball were unveiled today, namely Chase Wallis and Luke Fawcett, and both performed admirably,  looking forward to bright futures.  We looked as if we were going to score on numerous occasions, but just left far too many stranded on base.  Hits  :  One each to Ken Inoue, Chase Wallis, Todd Dunstall and David Lodge.

DIV FIVE away v Glenelg     Lost 8-9

Wow, what a near thing.  Congratulations to the team for their fighting spirit - nearly pulling off a great win.

DIV SIX away v Angels     Lost 9-10

Led all day, and went down at the death.  Not to worry, finals seem a certaity.  Hits  :  Derek Milne, Craig Mortimore 2, Nick McCormack, Brad Atkinson, David Ding, Shane Lodge 1.

MASTERS home V Gawler Won 7-0

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE away v Kensington Twilight Wed Feb 4 2026     WON 11-3

Not too much can be said about this one, except to congratulate the girls on their performances to date. They are definitely not getting ahead of themselves, because that is certainly not how they roll.  Peyton took to the mound, and the hitters were  :  Indie O'HazySchorn, Dakota Ding 2, Sarah McMahon, Amara Quinn, Peyton Daniels, Jemm Dadd, Beth Lee, Ella Forrester 1

DIVISION ONE away v Sth District Sun Feb 8 2026     WON 16-2

Ditto above, and this time the hitters were  :  Alice Brown, Jemm Dadd 3, Sarah McMahon, Carly Moore, Peyton Daniels, Indie O'HazySchorn 2, Beth Lee 1

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field Fri Feb 6 2026     WON 6-5

One hundred gamer, Alyssa Lasscock, certainly played the game of her short career by coming on as relief pitcher for Kaylah (one strike out) and striking out six, to go along with her several RBI's and her final act of knocking in the winning run in the last.  Well done.  Hits  :  Alyssa Lasscock 4, Ashlee Stradling, Kylah Ding, Jasmine Fawcett 1

JUNIORS

U18 Lost to Goodwood Red 1-9 in a scoreline that flatters the opposition, as it was neck and neck all day with us going off the boil towards the end.  A thoroughly entertaining game.

U14 Lost to GGCD 2-3 in a nail biter.  This was also a game that was a delight to watch, as both teams were highly skilled, and our boys and girls showed a huge amount of improvement.

U12 Lost to Adelaide 3-10 but the good news is --

U10 Won against East Torren 4-0

U8 as usual had a ball.

WOODVILLE BASEBALL  results w/e Feb 2 2026

DIVISION ONE Away v GGCD Tue 20 Jan 2026 Twilight     WON 10-5

We started with Jammo on the mound and he was in impressive form, and our first run came after Troy's single then Harry got him home with a ground ball, and Troy featured again in the third with a cat-like out from second base.  The game was slowly going nowhere, and the Dodgers posted three in the fourth to put us under pressure, but with our never say die attitude we were certainly up for the fight and blew them away in the sixth and last dig with nine of the best.  Jose C and Wade and Cesar all singled and Pappsy's sac fly got one home, and this was followed by a multitude of hitting and solid base running, culminating with Jose C one one leg hitting a two RBI shot, and Cesar's double bringing in a further two.  Solid win.  Hits  :  Jose Castellano, Wade Moore 3, Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson 2, Alfredo Rodriguez, Joe Papps, Ryan Stradling 1.

DIVISION ONE At Don Klaebe Field v Goodwood Tue 27 Jan 2026 Twilight     WON 8-2

After hits to Cesar, Wade and Jose P, Troy knocked in two, but we were equalled in the fourth when a couple of errors gave the Indian boys a bit of a sniff.  Jamison was doing his reputation no harm whatsoever by keeping them in check, but then we exploded with six runs in the fifth to put the game to rest.  We were aided by some free passes, but our hitting was quite superb, with all getting in on the act. Another solid performance.  Hits  :  Jose Pimentel 3, Jose Castellano, Wade Moore, Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson, Alfredo Rodriguez, Joe Papps 1.

DIVISION ONE Away v Nth Districts Sat 31 Jan 2026     WON 13-2

AJ was back after his stint with the Giants and was itching to put in a good one - and he certainly did.  As well, the batters were on song, and we scored in every innings with Wade getting on base in the first and Jose P putting one over the fence, Jose C singling next dig then stealing second, then third, and Ryan and Wade scoring. A couple of walks in the next helped and a throwing error was to Ollie's advantage as he got home, then a few more walks in the next as the hitting continued, and Cesar hit a two run bomb.   Jammo hit a fine double and Wade and Ryan made sure he scored, and Jose C sealed the deal with a home run in the last.  Hits  :  Wade Moore, Jose Castellano (HR) 3, Jose Pimentel (HR), Ryan Stradling 2, Hayden Carroll, Cesar Perez (HR), Jamison Hill 1.

DIVISION TWO Away V Nth Districts Sat 31 Jan 2026     WON 8-1

To be known as Nathan Nicholson Day.  The Coach, nine dig pitcher and home run hitter had a field day.  Congrats on your performance.  We gifted them a run in the first, but that was all she wrote, as we raced away with the win.  Jimmy, Kossi, Luke, Manny, Rhys etc were electric and the hits were :  Nathan Nicholson (HR), Luke Taylor 2, Rhys Owen, Alfredo Rodriguez, Armando Ramirez, James Chu 1.  Benji's sac fly added to the scoreboard.

DIV 3 -BYE

DIVISION FIVE  Lost to Goodwood at home 1-14

DIVISION SIX At Don Klaebe Field Sat 31 Jan 2026 v Sturt     Lost 10-11

Epic, hard fought game with the boys coming from behind and just getting pipped on the post.  Good effort, and finals are looking pretty good at this stage.  Hits  :  Derek Milne 3, David Ding (who pitched the game) 2,Soung Kim, Nick McCormack, Brad Atkinson 1.

MASTERS Monday 19th Jan 2026 V Sturt LOST 3-1

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE At Don Klaebe Field Sun 1 Feb 2026 v Sturt     WON 13-8

Windy conditions made it awkward for pitchers, but our girls prevailed and recorded another win.  Alice pitched three, Amara just the one and Sarah closed.  We scored two in the first and Kym made it home in the second on Sarah's hit.  A chain of errors in the third gave the Saints three, but we were equal to the task and Peyton, Indy, Beth and Jem all contributed to runs, and we scored the maximum seven in the next, with all getting in on the act - fourteen hits in all.  Hits  :  Peyton Daniels (inc two triples) 3, Alice Brown, Beth Lee, Jem Dadd 2, Sarah McMahon, Amara Quinn, Alyssa Lasscock, Indie O'HazySchorn, Kym Wilson 1,

WOODVILLE Baseball results w/e Jan 18 2026

DIVISION ONE Twilight away v Goodwood Tue 13.Jan 2026     WON 6-1

New signing Jamison Hill was on the mound and did his job admirably and came out with us in front, and we were looking pretty good in the batters' box all game.  Ryan, Jose C and Cesar combined to give us a couple, and generally good hitting and hard running got us a few more runs.  The sealer came in the sixth when Troy put over a big long homer with Pappsy on base, and the game was safe from then on.  Hits  :  Jose Castellano, Alfredo Rodriguez 2, Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson (HR), Ryan Stradling, Joe Papps 1.

DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field v H & G Sat 17 Jan 2026     Lost 6-11

It's hard to keep the top of the table team quiet all day, but we gave it a big crack and at the end of the fifth we were in with a shot leading 3-2.  The Rams then started to get bat on ball and got in front, but we don't lie down and came back with two runs of our own.  Our defence was superb all day behind Jose P, and some of our outfield catching was great, with Ryan and Jammo featuring.  They ground us down with three runs in the ninth, and it could have been ours to win, but we only managed one run to finish.  Hits  :  Cesar Perez 3, Hayden Carroll, Wade Moore, Jose Pimentel (HR), Oliver Hayes 2, Troy Nicholson, Jamison Hill, Ryan Stradling 1.

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field v H & G Sat 17 Jan 2026     Lost 8-10

We started like a house on fire, crossing the plate six times with Alfredo, Tom and Goldy all featuring and Luke stealing home.  Errors were our problem in the fourth dig as we let them in for four and three in the next, as Nathan gave way for Ryan on the mound.  We recovered enough to score a further two in the last, but it was too late.  Hits  :  Alfredo Rodriguez 3, Nathan Nicholson, Tom Dineen 2, Rhys Owen, Steve Goldspink 1.

DIVISION THREE at Don Klaebe Field v H & G Sat 17 Jan 2026     Lost 0-11

Hitting was our problem all game (or lack of) as we couldn't buy a hit.  Our pitching was a bit off as well, and we gave them a few free passes.  This team has been really on the improve lately, but fell a little flat today.  Hits  :  David Lodge, Declan Quinn 1.

DIV FIVE and DIV SIX both had byes

MASTERS at West Beach v Adelaide Monday 12th Jan 2026 Lost 7-5

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE Twilight at Don Klaebe Field v Sth District Wed 14 Jan 2026     WON 11-1

Alice and Dakota got the ball rolling in the first, combining for a couple, and we kept it going steadily until we got four runs (mostly unearned) in the fourth.  Dakota had been having a field day on he mound, and gave way to Peyton in the last who celebrated with a 2RBI hit.  The girls are going from strength to strength and must keep that positive mindset going.  Hits  :  Sarah McMahon, Peyton Daniels, Dakota Ding, Alyssa Lasscock 1.

DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field v Adelaide Sun 18 Jan 2026     WON 13-5

Stinking hot day - maybe that's why the girls were a bit sluggish to start, but boy, when they got going they just left the Angel girls in their wake.  Alice's single along with a Peyton walk and a Dakota hit  got two, followed by Indy's long hit to the outfield and Alyssa's RBI and Molly's single produced another two.  But next dig, we scored the maximum seven with all contributing after a fantastic double play to close out the opposition in the previous innings.  The ump sensibly called time on procedings, after Peyton had relieved Alice on the mound.  Hits  :  Alice Brown 3, Amara Quinn, Dakota Ding, Alyssa Lasscock, Molly Brown 2, Sarah McMahon 1.

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field v Kensington Fri 16 Jan 2026     WON 17-3

Complete game by these fun loving girls whilst all having a ball. Kylah (two strikeouts) and Alyssa (three) were never challenged from the mound, and the batting was terrific.  Three times the maximum runs were scored, with very few outs.  Hits  :  Di Barry, Kylah Ding, Alyssa Lasscock, Molly Brown, Ashlee Stradling 2, Lindsey Fawcett 1.

Juniors resume next week.
