DIVISION ONE

Twilight v Port Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field Tue 12.12.23

WON 4-3

After Drew kept them scoreless in their first, a familiar pattern emerged in our first at bat when Drew doubled and Cesar brought him home with his single - 1-0.  No score from the Maggies until an unfamiliar loss of control from the middle let them score three in the fourth, before we clawed one back when Wade singled, Joel hit and DChap got hit to load the bases, and the Port boys made a dog's dinner of a defensive play with a plethora of errors to gift us a run.   Quite comical.  The fifth was our finest however, when Drew walked, Cesar hit his second single for the game and they intentionally walked Wade to load em up, and Finners obliged with a smash up the middle to bring two home to hit the front.  AJ took over on the mound and put their lights out to finish the game.  Nice win.  Hits  :  Drew Janssen, Cesar Perez 2, Wade Moore, Mitch Fienemann, Joel Chapman 1.

DIVISION ONE

Away v Nth District Sat 16.1221

WON 9-5

We started with one in the first when Drew singled and Troy got him around and Wade sent him home, but AJ got into a bit of strife, and with bases loaded against us, he managed to escape and Drew put us two ahead next dig with an RBI.  The Red's bats came out of the closet to put on three to briefly hit the front , but they were not prepared for the 'Nats onslaught when we piled on six after Greg Bravo's significant hit set us up and Wade obliged with a two run homer.  Cesar stepped in for a couple of innings and kept them quiet and Troy had no difficulty closing. A couple of runs came in for both sides, but the day was done and another win was on the board.  Hits  :  Drew Janssen, Wade Moore (HR) 2, Joel Chapman, Daniel Chapman, Greg Bravo 1.  Certainly not a pleasant environment today.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Nth District Sat 16.12.23

WON 7-2

Really aggressive start with base running a feature, some good - some bad - but the result being one on the board.  We meandered on to the fifth, when we got going following NN and Finners setting Muggsy up for a two run RBI, a Jose run and heads up running got another over the plate with an Aldo RBI.  Declan sat down after his four fine innings and let Joel  finish with minimum pitches.  Declan can hold his head high after performing so meritoriously in spite of some dubious sledging from personnel from his previous club.  Hits  :  Mitch Fienemann, Ryan Muggleton, Jose Ramirez, Breandon Taheny, Aldo McCormack 2, Nathan Nicholson, Freddy Aguilar, Damien Wall 1.

DIVISION THREE

Had the weekend off due to the fact that the Northerners do not field a team in this grade.

DIVISION SIX

Had a draw

DIVISION SEVEN - Red

At Don Klaebe Field Sat 16.12.23  v Adelaide     WON 12-9

Highly entertaining - with the guys setting up a buffer zone in the first couple of innings to hopefully get ready to withstand a late revival from the opposition.  But it did not come, and to the contrary, we powered away with a five run dig in the fifth on the back of a Shane Lodge two RBI smash.  Ding took the new ball and Shane N did the rest.  Hits  :  Aaron Petros, Kim Soung 2, Shane Nicholson, Mike Chemny, Tony Tuttle, Shane Lodge, Mike Davey 1.

DIVISION SEVEN - Blue

Away v Adelaide

Lost 6-15.

An acrimonious contest, with our guys not playing at their best, and leaving it until the last when five runs made the score look a bit respectable. Casey is not the culprit, the blame is squarely on the defence.  Hits  :  Cuz, Nicko, King and Cam 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field v Sth District Sun 17.12.23     Lost 8-10

They are not a bad side the Hawks, runners up to us last year in the Grand Final, so it is not the best thing to do to give up the maximum seven runs in the first innings.  Poor Amara was beside herself with this, easily her poorest start from the mound, but to everybody's relief, she got straight back onto the horse and closed them down in the next dig and we went on to score a huge eight runs to three for the rest of the game.  Well done you!. We blitzed the opposition from thereon, with two in the second, and again in the third, three in the next and one in the last when we needed four to win. Darna produced as usual on the mound in the last few, and a huge mention to Indie for her total game.  Hits  :   And this does not do them justice - they were superb.  Carly Moore, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock, Ella Forrester, Indie O'Hazy-Zschorn 2, Louise Pelle, Darna Boers-Veen 1. It's good to know you have a team and indeed, a whole Club, behind you Amara.

DIVISION TWO

v Kensington Away

Lost 6-5

We struggled to find numbers right up until game time but managed to find enough! Dakota made a great start on the mound to Alice who was catching (yes, not the usual the combination!!!!) it worked well with Dakota pitching 3 innings for 5 strikeouts and Alice taking a catch and managing to get the double play to first. Leah was strong with the bat with two hits and Gem who took a fantastic catch at centrefield also showed everyone how to get "back" whilst at 2nd........ one that got away..... Looking forward to a break and seeing everyone at training and building our squad back up for a strong finish to the season.

Senior League U17

v Sturt at Woodville

WIN 9-7

Top of the table clash.

Young side competed very well against the top team in Sturt, all players reaching base however they could while the defence held a strong hitting Sturt in check in support of Indie who showed great leadership from the mound. Great end to this first half of the season and we look to carry the momentum forward.

Hits: Oliver Van Dommele 2, Alice Brown 1

Junior League U15

v Adelaide at Adelaide

LOST 6-1

Facing the top and undefeated team they put on 6 runs in the first 3 innings, their pitching was solid with our hitter’s recording 14 strikeouts, only 2 hits from Seb Bravo and RBI ground out to Will Stock, great pitching in relief by Alice Brown keeping them scoreless for remainder of game and recording 8 strikeouts, also good pitching from Seb our starter and Will Stock catching throwing a couple of runners out.

Hits: Sebastian Bravo 2

Little League U13

v Northern Districts at Woodville

DRAW 4-4

Today, the team showed they can mix with the best. The score doesn't show it, but there were plenty of hits and action. They played a fierce game that they should be proud of.

Highlights: Felix had a cracker day out with 12 outs and a hit. Kylah scored two off her lovely double. Hits: Archie Wallis 2, Kylah Ding, Felix Oliver, Ely Plaves and Isaac Dorian 1

Intermediate League U14

v Port Adelaide at Woodville

LOST 16-5

After giving up a 12 run lead, did well to fight back in the late afternoon heat. Remy and Chace toiled hard on the mound, with Chace doing some neat fielding from his own pitching to pick up 4 assists, and Felix tidy at first base.

Hits: Felix Oliver and Luke Fawcett 1

Minor League U11 - BYE

Pee Wee U9

v Angels at Adelaide

Great team effort in some bright sunshine. Lots and lots of runs with some great fielding. We welcomed 3 new Pee Wees from T-Ball - who did a great job playing their first game of baseball. Welcome Sake, Kennedy and Zac.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our Junior Senators, Parents and Caregivers from the Coaching staff, Junior Directors and WDBC Board.

GODANATS!!

Terrible weekend for baseball tragics - rained out on both days.  The boys tried valiantly to get the grounds up and running, but the rain won on the day, and the League had no choice but to cancell all play on both days for all divisions and juniors.  Division One will have to be replayed at some stage, possibly in the new year, but all other grades and all juniors will simply lose the round.  We were lucky however, to at least get a baseball fix on Friday night when the Woman's Div Two  played at home against Northern Districts in conjunction with our Annual Kids Christmas Party.  A good, happy and successful evening and night all round, with the icing on the cake being a thumping win for the ladies 20-4.

WOMAN'S DIV TWO

at Don Klaebe Field Fri 8.12.23 v Nth Dist     WON 20-4

Terrific all round performance, with plenty of highlights, and just the one lowlight when Di did her knee and had to be replaced.  The win was memorable for a number of reasons - namely Indie's pitching over the first three innings and hitting a majestic double, Dakota's relieving and single, Meggsie completely forgetting about her bung knee with three hits in a triumphant return to the diamond, and most famously of all, Jasmine claiming bragging rights in the Fawcett family by achieving her initial three hit game.  Everbody played at their best, and Charlotte was completely at home behind the plate.  Well done Ladies.  Hits  :  Megan BoersVeen, Jasmine Fawcett 3, Charlotte Paech 2, Dakota Ding, Jemila Dadd, Alice Brown, Indie O'Hazy Zschorn, Kym wilson 1.

DIVISION ONE     At Don Klaebe Field v E.Torrens Sat 2.12.23

WON 10-0 (Mercy)

We welcomed the Redsox to our domain expecting a tough encounter, but the opposite was the case as we raced through them in only seven innings.  Scoring was proving difficult in the first couple of innings and we had to wait until the third when Kuhna drove one in with a RBI, Drew doubled, and Cesar did the right thing and put one over the fence to make it a three run innings.  Runs come in clumps, and in the sixth we got another three when Manny, Joel and Greg all made it on base and Drew duly obliged by getting all three home with another towering double. Meanwhile, AJ was having a field day, having no trouble with their bats, and in fact went the distance in a fine display.  The last dig, the seventh, proved to be the end for the visitors, when after a great at bat, Joel doubled for one run, Manny had a two RBI hit (his third for the day), and Drew mopped up with another run.  Umpire called time, and that was all she wrote - a convincing win.  Good hitting, no errors - what more do you want?  Hits  :  Drew Janssen, Armando Ramirez 3, Troy Nicholson 2, Cesar Perez (HR), Victor Liu, Daniel Chapman, Joel Chapman, Greg Bravo 1.

DIVISION TWO     At Don Klaebe Field v E.Torrens Sat 2.12.23

WON 8-1

Really good solid win with all players contributing at some stage of the game.  We left a few on base early, but that was ok as we powered on three in the second when, with Nathan and Pappsy on base, a triple by Taheny scored them both and Hayesy made it three.  A Nick Kuhn double and a Nathan RBI kept the scoreboard ticking as did a Jose triple and a Muggsy hit, but the best was yet to come.  In the last, Taheny hit a double (he was showing off) and Finners hit a ripper of a home run to seal the deal.  Declan did six innings from the hill, and did not look in strife at any stage, and Nathan and Joel did the rest.  Hits  :  Mitch Fienemann (HR), Nathan Nicholson, Breandan Taheny 2, Nick Kuhn, Freddy Aguliar, Ryan Muggleton, Jose Ramirez 1.

DIVISION THREE     At Don Klaebe Field v E.Torrens Sat 2.12.23

WON 7-2

Started like a train with four in the first after good hitting by Aldo, Jimmy and Diesel, and, combined with some good defense we set the scene for the remainder of the game.  The defence was particularly strong it the fourth when they had bases loaded with none out and the big fella - Ray - put them to bed - no runs.  They changed pitchers and Elvin welcomed him to the mound by putting his first pitch into the QEH car park. The runs kept coming when Amara walked, Pappsy hit and the Chuman knocked them both in.. We finished with a flourish by putting thier lights out with a great double play.  Hits  :  Jimmy Chu 3, Joey Papps, Diesel Fallon 2. Aldo McCormack, Elvin Avila (HR), Luke Taylor, Josh Boden 1.

DIVISION SIX     Away v Glenelg

Lost 3-21

Didn't have the best of days, but kept on swinging.  Hits  :  Flash 2, Doggy, Jake, Phil 1.

DIVISION SEVEN - Red V Kensington at Don Klaebe Field

Draw 12-12

Great game - highly entertaining with some individual highlights.  Justin Randall's hit and catch, Matt Davey's tremendous left field catch along with his work behind the plate, and Hoony's catch.  Chem was batting 1000 until the old hammy sat him on the bench.  We needed four to win in the last - got three for the draw.  But for one poor inning and it could have been different.  Hits  :  Aaron Petros, Kim Soung, Mike Chemny 2, Justin Randall, Shane Lodge, Tony Tuttle, Kim Hoony 1.

DIVISION SEVEN - Blue Away v Sth District

WON 17-9

Topsy-turvey game with a good early lead being whittled away in an innings full of errors.  The boys were good enough to respond after the Hawks got to within three, and went on to record a big win.  Josh Mignone pitched well, and Casey cleaned up.  Hits  :  Cuz, King 4, Behr, the Pope, Morty 2, Casey, Josh, Cam 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE     Away v Glenelg Sun 3.12.23

WON 9-1

Lately, the Bay has become a good hunting ground for our girls, and today was no exception.  The hits were well distributed and Amara pitched us to victory with Darna closing.  An obvious highlight (well - three of them) was our fantastic ground work in the field and the three double plays were all different and all spectacular.  First class.  Hits  :  Louise Pelle, Carly Moore, Sarah McMahon 2, Alyssa Lasscock, Ella Forrester, Darna BoersVeen, Indie O'Hazy-Zschorn 1.

DIVISION TWO     Away v Adelaide

Lost 13-2

Tough night at the office with Megs, Darna and Alyssa all helping out the girls with lots of injuries at the moment. Consistent pitching by Di, Alyssa and Alice wasn't backed up by our fielding or at bats.

JUNIORS

U17  Senior League  v Goodwood at Goodwood

Won 9-3

A complete team game, Diesel strong on the mound, relieved well by Indie, all batters in charge in the batters box which helped us get deep into their bullpen to secure the win against the 3rd placed side.

Hits:  Ryan Evans 2, Ollie Van Dommele, Ollie Hayes, Diesel Fallon, Jack Robson 1.

U15   Junior League v East Torrens at East Torrens

Won 8-2

Going into a game with 3rd v 4th on the ladder. Alice pitched the whole game against tough opposition with the field fantastic in defense. Excellent batting with runs being scored consistently every innings.

Hits: Benji Hayes 2, Chace Wallis, Sebastian Bravo 1.

Pitching: Alice Brown 8 Strike outs

U14   Intermediate League  v Goodwood at HOME

Lost 9-2

Fantastic game for a team that has struggled most of the season. They were right in the game up until the last innings which unfortunately went the opposition's way.

Excellent pitching by Chace Wallis throughout the game with Felix Oliver finishing the game on the mound.

Hits: Archie Wallis double

Strike outs: Chace Wallis 8 Strike outs, Felix Oliver 3 strike outs.

U13  Little League v Adelaide at HOME

Won 16-6

The Little League game against Adelaide showed the team continues to develop game-day awareness and improve on the basics, which results in hits, on-base appearances and runs. Archie enjoyed his day out by holding their hitters at bay and making a nice hit deep into centre field that resulted in a park home run.

Hits: Bodhi Ansell 3, Isaac Dorian, Felix Oliver, Michael Sennis 2, Archie Wallis (HR) 1.

Pitching: Archie Wallis 10 Strike outs

U11 Minor League v Glenelg at HOME

Lost 7-3

A tight game until the last innings when Glenelg put on four to clinch it. Chris pitched well with 4 strikeouts, backed up by James with 2 and Laura picked up her first ever.

Hits: Chris Vlahos 1

Pitching: Chris Vlahos 4, James Lodge 2 and Laura Burton Strike outs.

U9 Pee Wee v Glenelg at Glenelg

If you have nothing to do on a Sunday morning come and watch this powerhouse team. Pee Wee is a competition that teaches the kids the basic game of baseball. They have an opportunity to hit the ball thrown by their coach BUT if they struggle they get to hit it off the tee. Our team is amazing and rarely have to hit it off the tee - they also scored 41 runs to Glenelg 32. Whilst scores are not kept and attendance is monitored our little Pee Wees are doing an amazing job. Every week they are improving ... We can't wait to see them play West Torrens this Sunday! Thanks to the amazing coaches who are doing a great job!

GODANATS!!!
