DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field Sat 1.02.25 v Nth Districts

WON 16-1

Super nice to get another win going into finals, but we will surely come up against stiffer opposition in ensuing weeks.  Cesar's sacfly got us going in the first, allowing Drew to trot over the plate, and we backed up with four in the next courtesy of Jose's double, Ryan's and Pappsy's singles, and then Drew smashed a triple and Ollie had a RBI.  Only got two in the next after Wade doubled, Jose singled and Troy got them both home.  So it wes seven nil after four and we got another in the fifth when Jose, Pappsy and Ryan nudged the score up another run.  AJ got to sit down after four, with eight strikeouts and no hits beside his name - a terrific effort - and Cesar took the reins for the next couple, and Ryan did the last and got his first Division One strikeout.  It only went seven, as we stitched them up properly in the sixth with eight runs in an avalanche. Everybody got into the act, and it would take me all night to list the lot, let's just say they all had a hand in it.   Hits  :  Drew Janssen 3, Oliver Hayes, Wade Moore, Jose Castellano, Troy Nicholson, Joe Papps 2, Cesar Perez, Ryan Stradling, Breandan Taheny 1. Sturt at home next week - best of three - looking forward to it.

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field Sat 1.02.25 v Nth Districts

WON 14-1

Ditto the above, good to win and give us a definite finals berth starting next week against Henley away.  We bounced them early with six in the first, with Alfredo, Luke and Kossi all contributing, and a further couple in the next and then three and then another three.  Meanwhile, Ryan was making third base his own and Luke took a catch at right field and threw the runner out at second - great play.  Hits  :  Luke Taylor 2, Greg Bravo, Alfredo Rodriguez, Tom Dineen, Ryan Stradling, Kosuke Ikeda, Jimmy (welcome Home) Chu 1.

DIVISION THREE  had a bye as the Reds don't have a Div Three side.  Fell short of finals this year, after having a good start to the season, and were not helped at all by Coach David Lodge going down with a broken leg.  The team lost momentum as a result, and didn't have that same zing thereafter.

DIV SIX had a difficult season after being formed just before Christmas due to the fact that we had an over abundance of players wanting to play at this level, and failed to make finals.

Division Seven (Blue) only just missed out on playoffs by one point.  Missed by that much.

Division Seven (Red) had a fun year and would have made an impression in final matches - but no cigar.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE  Had a bye this week but are well and trully in finals - finishing in a solid second place.

DIVISION TWO Contrary to what was posted last week, these girls unfortunately did not sneak into finals as stated, just falling short.

JUNIORS

Two teams contested finals Sunday 2.03.25 with the U17 team unfortunately losing to a very good Goodwood team 4-11.

The U15 team however, defeated Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field in a nail biter 4-3 and live to fight another day.  The Wallis boys - Chase and Archie - owned the mound and both turned in superb performances, as did their defence and the batters.  A real good result! Hits Archie Wallis 1, Xavier Gower 1, Chace Wallis 1, Riley Sinclair 1, Samuel Pryor 1, pitchers did an amazing job Chace Wallis 5 innings 8 strikeouts and Archie Wallis 2 innings and struck the side out in top last.

So, play on next week - with Div One, Div Two, Div One Ladies and U15's all still in the hunt.

  GODANATS!

DIVISION ONE Away v Goodwood Sat 22.02.25

WON 6-1

We got the game going off on a good note when Hayden planted one over the right-field fence in the first to dampen the Indians' spirits, and then waited until the fourth when Wade exploded with another homer and Pappsy immediately followed with a two run dinger.  Good for you Joe, Mum and Dad had just arrived to witness your first Division One home run.  Jose was running amok around the bases and with his help (and others) we found a few more runs in the concluding innings - shortened to seven because of the heat.  AJ pitched the first four, and then the rotation came into play - with Cesar, Hayden and Drew all having a ping.  So we front Norths next week at Don Klaebe Field in the last minor round game, before playing in the finals, in either second or third spot.  Go you good things.  Hits  :  Hayden Carrol (HR) 3, Drew Janssen, Cesar Perez, Wade Moore (HR), Joe Papps (HR), Tom Dineen 1.

DIVISION TWO Away v Goodwood Sat 22.02.25

Lost 3-5

Todd started us off with a double and was brought home on Tom's sac fly, and we increased the lead in the second with another couple.  Declan completed his stint and Ollie took the ball from the middle, but the opposition kept plugging away and took the lead towards the end of yet another heat-shortened game.  Still in the top six, so finals just around the corner after taking on the Reds next week .  Hits  :  Ryan Straddling 2, Todd Dunstall, Alfredo Rodriguez, Greg Bravo, Declan Quinn 1.

DIVISION THREE Away v Goodwood Sat 22.02.25

Lost 4-9

Last game of the season for this side due to Norths not having a Div Three team, so we trotted out the "Dept. of youth?" to battle it out, and they acquitted themselves superbly by outscoring their opposition 3-1 in the last four innings of five.  Pity about the first dig, when we conceded eight. Rhys had a field day by hitting the fence on one occasion, and coming home on Will's hit, and then hitting another double in the last.  Not finals bound.  Hits  :  Ikeda Kosuke, Rhys Owen 2, Luke Taylor, Nick McCormack, Seb Bravo, Will Stock 1.  Sorry, couldn't find a hit for David Ding or James Straddling.

DIVISION SIX

Lost to Goodwood in what was their last game for the season 1-13.  Won't be partaking in finals.  Coach Casey Moore had a good one on the mound with seven strikeouts, and the hits were Flash 2, Nate, Jake, Joe,1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE Twilight Wed 19.02.25 away v Sth Dist

WON 11-6

Quite excitedly, the girls were telling me that this is the first time they have come away from Christie Downs with the win, even in our Premiership year.  Hard to win down there.  Alice Brown was the starting pitcher and the major contributors with the bats were Darna BoersVeen 3, Sarah McMahon, Alice Brown, Beth Lee, Jemila Dadd 1.

DIVISION ONE Away v Kensington Sun 23.02.25

WON 10-4

Slow start, first run didn't come until the third when Indie's terrific base running got her home on Smack's groundout, and again next dig we scored when Dakota's hit scored Alice Morrison.  The highlights were next to come when we got the maximum seven in the last to shut them out of the game.  Beth doubled and Alice Brown tripled in this onslaught, as Dakota took over from Indie on the hill.  There were a lot of positive vibes all during the game - oh yeah - Carly was back and firing, as she does.  Finals guaranteed, so a bye in the next (and last) round will sharpen the attitude.  Hits  :  Alice Brown 3, Indie O'HazyZschorn, Carly Moore, Beth Lee, Dakota Ding, Molly Brown 1.

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field Fri 21.02.25 v Gawler

WON 9-8 (Walkoff)

Full credit to the girls - they hung in there for the duration and came from behind to snatch a win to sneak into sixth spot on the ladder and make finals a certainty.  Di Barry took the new ball and struck out two along the way, Darna came on and knocked over six and Dakota finished off two of them.  The hitters were Jemila Dadd, Darna BoersVeen, Immy Copperstone 2, Ashleigh Straddling, Di Barry, Rachel Page, Jasmine Fawcett 1.

DIVISION ONE     Twilight Tue 11.02.25 away v Port

WON 6-4

Handy win to keep us up at the pointy end of the ladder against an opponent wanting to keep their finals hopes alive.  They got a run in the bottom of the first, but we showed our intent with a classy double play to end the innings before equalising in the next dig when Troy's double got the speedy Jose home after he beat the throw to first and stole second on his way to home plate.  The fourth was the killer for the Maggies, as we piled on five of the best starting with Jose's double who got home on Ryan's first ground ball hit in his first Division One start (congrats), Nathan's double earned him an RBI, and then Drew's similar hit scored two and we got two more from their third pitcher of the inning after Hayden's sacfly.  Productive.  Troy had gone deep and Drew relieved, and the Port boys put on a couple at the death.  All in all, a comprehensive win.  Hits  :  Drew Jenssen, Jose Castellano, Troy Nicholson 2, Hayden Carroll, Cesar Perez, Joe Papps, Nathan Nicholson

DIVISION ONE At Don Klaebe Field Sat 15.02.25 v Sturt

WON 10-6

AJ was the starter and looked on song as he kept the big hitting Sturt boys in check for one run only in his five digs.  We distanced ourselves from the Blue boys in the second when Jose knocked the palings off the fence with a biggie to get Wade over the plate, and scored himself on a throwing error, followed by Troy and Ollie walking and Taheny singling to enable Hayden to score the three of them, then we waited until the bottom of the fourth and Drew obliged with a three run dinger.  One of their guys hit a bomb and followed up with another and we rotated the pitchers - firstly Cesar then Troy and finally Drew.  We were playing heads up baseball with the bats, batting sensibly and got another two for our efforts to keep them ay bay.  Taheny, Cesar, Ollie and Jose all featured at this stage.  Another good one.  Hits :  Breandan Taheny 3, Troy Nicholson 2, Drew Janssen (HR), Hayden Carroll, Cesar Perez, Wade Moore, Jose Castellano 1.

DIVISION TWO At Don Klaebe Field Sat 15.02.25 v Sturt

WON 11-10

Another day - another walkoff.  They really put us to the sword early, putting us on the back foot with six runs before we had time to blink, but our fightback began immediately when Todd, Greg and Pappsy combined for three.  We just kept chipping away with runs here and there and got ahead in the fourth when Alfredo doubled and brought home two as the result of a couple of walks, then Manny's two RBI hit up the middle contributed more and Ryan had an RBI of his own.  The Sturt boys were not done and evened the game up with us wanting one to win in the last.  And so Manny doubled, Ollie walked and Ryan did the trick with a timely hit.  We used four pitchers - Declan, Ollie, Nathan and Ryan.  Hits  :  Ryan Stradling 3, Greg Bravo, Armando Ramirez 2, Joe Papps, Alfredo Rodriguez 1.

DIVISION THREE At Don Klaebe Field Sat 15.02.25

Lost 6-20

We were slow to get into gear and let them get three in the first, but rallied with two of our own and relied on walks mainly from then to get into scoring positions.  We were tracking ok up to the fourth, but thereafter we couldn't contain them and we went on to record a bad loss.  Hits  :  Rhys Owen 2, Will Stock, Seb Bravo, Diesel Fallon 1.

DIVISION SIX

Lost away to Adelaide 1-7 with Jake Wilson having three hits and Tim Fawcett one.  Casey Moore had a good day on the mound.

DIVISION SEVEN (Blue)

Played at home and went down to GGCD 2-12

DIVISION SEVEN (Red)

Played away v Kensington and lost this, their last game of the season, 7-11.  Final dreams smashed.  Hits  :  Aaron petros 2, Owen Williams, Kim Hoony, Kim Soung, David Ding 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE Away v Adelaide Sun 16.02.25     WON 6-5

The girls are stringing a few wins together in the run in to the finals, and looking good, sitting second.  Any win is a good win at this stage of the season.  Hits  :  Alice Brown 2, Indie O'HazyZschorn, Darna BoersVeen, Beth Lee, Molly Brown 1.

DIVISION TWO Away v H & G Fri 14.02.25     WON 9-5

Very good win this, with contributors galore.  The pitchers were on fire, with Alice Brown accounting for four batters through strikeouts, Dakota Ding two, and Indie O'HazyZschorn one.  Hits  :  Di Barry, Alice Morrison. Megan BoersVeen 2, Dane BoersVeen, Kym Wilson (dbl) 1.

JUNIORS

U17 At home v Port

U15

At Home v Port - WON 4-1.

Tight game with both sides giving it their all.
