DIVISION ONE Twilight away v Nth District Tue 10/12/24

WON 11-0 (Mercy)

Cesar was on the mound and in top form, giving up nothing in the first four digs as did Troy and AJ in the fifth and last.  Strangely, no scores in the first three at bats, but when we hit - we hit big.  An error, two walks and a Wade RBI got us on the board, and they walked in another, before Alfredo's three RBI hit gave us five and we were not satisfied with that, as we backed it up with a further six in what proved to be the last.  Taheny singled followed by three walks paving the way for Wade's base clearing homer to seal the deal.  Our defence was superb all game, with a flamboyant double play to finish.  Hits  :  Wade Moore (GSHR), Alfredo Rodriguez 2, Cesar Perez, Jose Castellano, Joe Papps 1 Breandan Taheny 1.

DIVISION ONE away v Gawler Sat 14/12/24     WON 15-4 (Mercy)

We saw it the week prior against Goodwood - a huge first inning of ten runs - but we were slightly unprepared for an even bigger tally this week - thirteen !  Callum walked, Cesar doubled and Drew dutifully popped one over for the first three,  then Ollie doubled, another on base and Taheny hit his first Div One homer for three more, Ollie doubled again, and we were just going into our third rotation when, much to our annoyance, we left three on base.  One more in the second and a bit of a drought until the sixth, when Drew - as he can - hit another over the fence to make it fifteen zip and we then just waited to play out the seventh to make it a game.  The Rangers scored a few consollation runs at the death, but it was never in doubt.  We were well served all day from the mound by AJ, Ollie and Cesar.  Hits  :  Cesar Perez, Drew Janssen (2HR), Wade Moore, Oliver Hayes, Alfredo Rodriguez 2, Callum Park, Jose Castellano, Breandan Taheny  (HR) 1.  So we go into the Christmas break in first position on the ladder.

DIVISION TWO away v Gawler Sat 14/12/24

WON 8-3

Very good win after giving up two runs in the first, but a seven run third dig proved too much for the opposition and put us back in the hunt for finals.  Todd Dunstall just knocked up hitting doubles and was well backed up by his fellow batters.  Declan had a good day out and went over four digs, snd Greg Bravo is proving to be a handy finisher.  Hits  :  Todd Dunstall, Alfredo Rodriguez 2, Harrison Kiss, Joe Papps, Tom Dineen 1.

DIVISION THREE away v Gawler Sat 14/12/24

WON 14-2 (Mercy)

With a full list to choose our teams from after welcoming home our overseas travellers, we really played up to our capabilities and were dominant in all departments.  Diesel took the new ball and was on song until he loaded the bases in the fourth, but, no worries, enter Amara - who had just taken a fine catch at centrefield - and she finished them off easily.  In the meantime, Luke had taken a great catch in the outfield that was reminiscent of the great Gary Owens.  Hits  :  Aldo McCormack, Jose Ramirez (including a triple), Josh Boden 2, Luke Taylor, Amara Quinn 1.

DIVISION SIX  Certainly didn't have the best of days and went down 0-17

DIVISION SEVEN (Blue)

Lost 3-9 with Andrew Eime and Steve Couzner each collecting two hits, and Tim Fawcett and Gomez getting one each.

DIVISION SEVEN (Red)

Lost 9-10

Very stiff to lose in the last inning after outplaying their opponents all game. Ding played a blinder from the middle and the hits were  :  Owen Williams, Brad Atkinson 4, Hoony 2, Aaron Petros, Dave Ding, Craig Mortimore, Derek Milne 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

No game due to heat policy

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field v Sturt Fri 13/12/24

WON 9-6

We scored the maximum five in the first, but Sturt came back with three and it was neck and neck all the way, and we just managed to hold on for the win.  Alice Morrison's pitching and in the park home run were highlights.

JUNIORS

No junior games due to the heat policy.

DIVISION ONE     v     Goodwood at Don Klaebe Field Sat 7/12/24

WON 12-2 (Mercy)

Almost unbelievable start after we gave up an initial run in their first at bat.  Our side of the first frame then went like this  -  after a Cesar walk, Drew singled, Wade singled and Troy got two home.  Then Taheny doubled for a couple more RBI's followed by a two run homer from Cesar, and after a couple more over the plate, their guy had had enough and went to lick his wounds.  They brought on Fidge - a familiar name to most - and Drew sent him straight over to the Skid Kids for another homer and a ten run innings.  It was as much fun you can have on a baseball diamond without getting into trouble.  The rest of the game turned out to be a pitchers contest, as Drew and Fidge went about their business and no-one troubled the scorers again until both sides got one apiece in the last.  Hayden Carroll jumped in to provide two quality innings and Cezar closed.  Hits  :  Drew Janssen (HR), Wade Moore, Breandan Taheny 3, Troy Nicholson 2, Cesar Perez (HR), Hayden Carroll, Greg Bravo 1.  A good day out !

DIVISION TWO     v     Goodwood at Don Klaebe Field Sat 7/12/24

WON 5-2

Again we jumped out to a handy start after Alfredo, Papps and Harry Kiss all hit in the first to post four runs, and added one more in the next when a Papps double ended up with another RBI.  We left potential scores out there though, not capitalising on runners on base a couple of times.  Declan was very proficient, giving up no runs, and Greg Bravo chimed in with two immaculate innings and Ollie finished.  Hits  :  Joe Papps 3,  Adensen Verastegui (AJ) 2, Harry Kiss, Alfredo Rodriguez, Tom Dineen, Jimmy Chu 1.

DIVISION THREE     v     Goodwood at Don Klaebe Field Sat 7/12/24

WON 9-7

Started with a run each in the first, but they got on top in the second with a five run return and it seemed to sting us into action and the boys got their act together and piled on nine over the next three to take the chocolates.  A welcome return for Nathan Nicholson from a nasty hand injury, and he proved his fitness in an all round display from the middle in relief and in the batting box.  The spectacular Jimmy Chu put over his first home run at senior level, we welcomed newbie Jonah Burns, Will Stock got a RBI and Elvin just keeps hitting doubles.  Hits  :   Jimmy Chu (HR), Elvin Avila 2, Will Stock, Jonah Burns, Nathan Nicholson 1.

DIVISION SIX at Southern Districts

DIVISION SEVEN (Red) Away at Port Adelaide Sat 7/12/24

WON 7-3

Back in the winning loop again - great to see - and well deserved.  All that dedication to training is starting to pay off.  Dave Ding pitched a terrific game, and the hits came from  :  Derek Milne 3, Kim Hoony 2, Kim Soung, David Ding, Craig Mortimore, Mike Chemney 1.

DIVISION SEVEN (Blue)  At Don Klaebe Field v Sturt Sat 7/1/24

Lost 7-15

Andrew Eime from the hill picked up eight strikeouts and the hits were  :  Steve Couzner, Gary Fallon (making his highly anticipated debut) 2, Tim Fawcett, Gomez, Andrew Eime, Andy Vuong 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE Away v Glenelg Sun 8/12/24     WON 6-3

Fantastic to see Darna back on the mound after a lengthy layoff from pitching duties, and she didn't let anybody down that's for sure.  This was a real workmanlike job, and the girls looked to be in control for the most part.  It would be nice to get another win on the board before Xmas next week against Adelaide at home.  Hits :  Sarah McMahon 3, Indie O'hazyZschorn, Molly Brown 1.

DIVISION TWO Away v Southern Districts Fri 6/12/24

WON

Molly Brown's pitching debut saw two strikeouts going into the book, and other highlights were Alice Morrison's two hits, Alice Browns two doubles and Darna's triple.  Indie managed eight strikeouts.  Lets hope that they can beat Sturt on Friday at home and go into the Xmas break on a high.

JUNIORS

Senior League U17  v  East Torrens at home Sun 8/12/24

WON 5-4

Typical of the season, a come from behind win in the last dig was not unexpected, as quite frankly, you could see it coming with some of our battle hardened little pros. Hits  :  Sebastian Bravo 2, Matthew Nansai, Diesel Fallon 1.

Junior League U15 Vs H&G Gold

WON 18-3

Another top team effort from our JL side, excellent team batting to back up some great pitching by Archie Wallis 3 innings 6 strikeouts and Luke Fawcett 1 inning 3 strikeouts.  On to the top of the table clash with H&G Maroon Next week.  Hits were Benji Hayes 3, Riley Sinclair 2, Archie Wallis 1, Remy Brooks 1, Chace Wallis 1, Xavier Gower 1, Anton Kumar 1 and Myles Braithwaite 1.

Little League U13 Vs Sth Districts

Lost 10-0

Sth Districts were back by excellent pitching, the quickest and best we have faced this year.  No hits were recorded.  We got a few on base through walks but couldn’t string together to get any runners across the plate.  Our pitching struggled a bit with a couple of outs so Chris, Isaac, Major and Finley all had a chance to pitch an innings each.

Minor League U11

This week the Minor league team took on Adelaide at home. The bats came alive in the last innings but unfortunately we went down 9 - 2. Congratulations to Jett for hitting the first double of the season. Confidence continues to grow within team. Fielding was excellent, with outs made in the infield and outfielders keeping the ball in front and getting it in straight away. Well done to Ari on his first time catching.

DIVISION ONE v Port at Don Klaebe Field Sat 30/11/24

Lost 6-8

We kicked it off in the second with three runs, highlighted by some powerful base running from Jose and banged in another three in the next when Alfredo started us up with a nice double.  Port just kept banging away with a run here and a run there, and we completely dried up and then let it slip late when  they got in front.  Drew was his usual valiant self from the middle for most of the game.  Hits  :  Oliver Hayes, Alfredo Rodriguez 2, Callum Park, Cesar Perez, Hayden Carrol, Armando Ramirez, Breandan Taheny 1.

DIVISION TWO v Port at Don Klaebe Field Sat 30/11/24

Lost 1-10

We put up a poor performance in this one - level after the first couple - but we let them get away bigtime.  Hits  :  all singles to Harry Kiss, Todd Dunstall and Jimmy Chu.

DIVISION THREE v Port at Don Klaebe Field Sat 30/11/24

WON 21-1

A bit of a rout this game, with every one pretty much getting in on the act.  Rhys's sac fly in the first got Jimmy home and then Carly - in her 200th game for the Club had an RBI of her own, but all paled in comparison to man of the match Elvin with his two triple and one double afternoon.  Junior Will Stock chimed in with a double of his own, and Rhys put three over the plate in the last.  Amara started the ball rolling from the mound until her pitch count forced her to give way to Rhys.  Hits  :  Jimmy Chu, Elvin Avila, Rhys Owen 3, Will Stock 2, Carly Moore, Amara Quinn, Declan Quinn 1.

DIVISION ONE v Sturt Twilight Tue 3/12/24 Away

WON 3-1

Great to win away in a Twilight game, even better against Sturt, bearing in mind the cross town traffic and the fact that they are the reining Premiers.  Drew got us going in the first with a double and was over the plate on Callum's hit.  AJ was really on form at this point, and we scored two more from consecutive hits by Cesar, Drew and Troy, with an Alfredo sac fly rounding out our score.  Sturt's only score came from a walked in run in the third.  So for the last four digs there was no scoring, but plenty of angst on the sidelines.  AJ completed 5.2 innings of fine work and it was left to Troy to shut them down, which he did admirably.  Hits  :  Drew Janssen 2, Cesar Perez, Callum Park, Troy Nicholson, Greg Bravo 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE v H & Grange 1/12/24

Lost 4-10

Coming off the bye, the girls let one slip with Alice Brown recording the only hit.

DIVISION ONE v Sturt at Don Klaebe Field Twilight Wed 4/12/24

Lost 10-11

Tight and entertaining game early, but the finish was exciting. We lost a little concentration in the third and they were able to notch up four, but we came back with two.  Little errors on our part contributed to their five runs in the last, and we needed the maximum seven for victory.  Well, they certainly got a fair bit panicky, and with their errors, we got six of them to fall just one shy.  Alice B, Dakota and Indy were the pitching crew - all so young.

DIVISION TWO away v Nth Districts 29/11/24

Lost

Dakota Ding with five strikeouts and a hit was the standout along with Jemila Dadd's two doubles and two singles, Sarah McMahon also had two hits and Kym Wilson one.

Computer all fixed at great expense, so looking forward to putting up some more comprehensive reports, including all the other grades and juniors.

JUNIOR’S

Pee Wee

Had a great outing at Kensington scoring 35-21, the bats were firing and everyone played well and enjoyed themselves.  The highlight being a double play on a ball hit back to pitcher position and caught and thrown over to first base.  The team are really doing well.

Minor League

This week the Minor league team took on GGCD blue at home. The team went down 10 - 3 but the play of the day was a triple play made by Alessio Laurendi. With bases loaded, the ball was hit to Alessio at second base. He made the catch for the first out. Then without hesitation he saw the runner left second early so he ran to second bases and got the unassisted out. Thinking that would be all, Alessio then saw that the runner at first left early too so he threw a strike to our first baseman Jett, who caught the ball and made the 3rd out. It was an outstanding play. Also well done to Lewis Smith on his first game of baseball

.

Little League

Lost 9-2 to West Torrens, the team only had one hit for the game which was to Myles Braithwaite.

Junior League

Won 24-2 vs Kensington.  Another big win this week which puts our team into 2nd position on the ladder with 6 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. Some outstanding pitching by Chace Wallis 6 strikeouts in 2 innings and Benji Hayes 3 strikeouts in 1 inning.  Unfortunately Kensington's pitchers struggled throwing 19 walks and our team capitalised with some good hitting also when the pitches were there to hit.  Both Remy Brooks & Luke Fawcett caught well behind the dish in their 100th games.  Hits were: Benji Hayes 3 (3RBIs), Xavier Gower 2 (6 RBIs), Luke Fawcett 1, Remy Brooks 1, Riley Sinclair 1, Arlo Cockshell 1
