DIVISION ONE     v     Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field Sat 26/10/24

WON 6-5

Another day - another game - another walkoff!!  Wow, it went right down to the bitter end, and the light was getting pretty murky, but we prevailed and kept the winning streak going.  Drew was decked in the first, but bounced up nevertheless, and just kept on for the rest of the game.  We got in front in the third on the back of Cesar's double that brought in a couple and Wade's towering home run added one more.  AJ showed his class after having loaded bases, and just knocking over their batters for no runs, before getting a whack on the hand in the batting box and have Drew take the ball.  A Papps RBI added to the tally and it was 4-1 our way in the top of the ninth - but along came Welch who evened the scores with a three run homer.  So to the tenth, and with a runner on base they scored one, and after us putting two on base, Hayden Carroll's hit over the second baseman scored two in the ensuing pandemonium.  End of story.  Fighting win.  Hits:- Jose Castellano, Cesar Perez, Wade Moore (HR) 2, Joe Papps 1.

DIVISION TWO     v     Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field Sat 26/10/24

WON 5-4

We let them get a few at the start - three in fact - and we didn't break our duck until the fifth when Harry singled, Ryan walked and Papps singled to score three and by this stage we were 3-4 down.  We failed to take advantage of a bases loaded situation in the next and so we go to the last two down.  Papps doubled, Todd hit by pitch and Armando doubled to bring in the two runs required for the win.  Lo and behold - another walkoff!!  Declan threw five fine innings and Nathan finished.  Hits:  Joe Papps, Harrison Kiss 2, Manny Ramirez, Alfredo Rodriguez, Nathan Nicholson, Aldo McCormack 1.

DIVISION THREE     v     Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field Sat 26/10/24

Lost 5-14

The game was level at one apiece when, in the second, Davey Lodge went down with what turned out to be a broken leg and had to be taken to the QEH by ambulance.  Our boys were shellshocked and lost concentration and let in an unprecented nine runs in the next dig, before settling  down and matching the opposition for the rest of the game.  But the damage had been done.  Hits  :  Luke Taylor, Aldo McCormack, Kossi, Elvin, Ryan, Sebastion, Amara, Will 1.  Latest report is that Davey is doing ok.

DIVISION SEVEN Blue     v     Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field Sat 26/10/24

WON 7-1

Good win with a huge contribution from Andrew Eime and his eight strikeouts  and one treble.  Others to shine were Jose with two hits including a treble and the hit parade is as follows  :  Steve Couzner, Jayden, Jose 2, Gomez, Andrew, Nate, Jake, Casey and Andy 1.

DIVISION SEVEN Red     v     H & G away.  Unfortunately lost 9-7.  No Judy - no info.

WOMEN’S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE     v     Glenelg at Don Klaebe Field Sun 27/10/24

WON 12-2 (Mercy rule)

The girls were in no mood for half measures, and after being stung in the first innings with a two run defecit, they put the foot on the pedal and poured on the gas, clocking up four runs followed up with a maximum seven.  Amara and Alice B were the dominators on the mound, and we saw a once in a season event when we had loaded bases, and scored all the four runs from an Indie Grand Slam in the park home run.  Sensational!  Hits  :  Sarah McMahon, Beth Lee, Indie O'HazyZschorn (GSHR) 2, Amara Quinn, Alice Brown, Alice Morrison, Jemila Dadd 1.

DIVISION TWO     v     H & G at Don Klaebe Field Fri 25/10/24

WON 6-2

Alice Morrison was pounding them down in a fine display with her first two innings going 1-2-3, 1-2-3.  She finished with one strikeout, Indie five and Dakota (who also took a great catch) two.  Hits were Indie - one double and a single, Alice M a double, and singles to Mackenzie StGeorge, Dakota Ding, Jemila Dadd, Ashlee Stradling and  Kym Wilson.

Juniors

Pee wee got 4 outs and 22 runs had a great time.

Minor League lost 10-0

Little League U13

Lost 9-2 away at Sturt. An improved performance from our 1st game. Kylah and Myles pitched well and we were in it after 4 innings, only trailing 4-2. No safe hits recorded but we put the ball into play 7 times and Sturt's fielding held firm. Kylah pitched 2.2 innings striking out 8, Myles pitched 1.1 innings with 2 strikeouts and Chris closed in the last dig.

Junior League won 12-8 at East Torrens, after jumping out the blocks and leading 7-0, East Torrens fought back to make it 7-6, we then piled on 5 runs and East Torrens got a couple more, good pitching from Archie Wallis, Remy Brooks and Chace Wallis and some good team hitting Hits were Archie Wallis 3, Chace Wallis 2, Remy Brooks 1, Benji Hayes 1, Riley Sinclair 1, Myles Braithwaite 1

Senior league lost 8-4

DIVISION ONE v Glenelg @ Don Klaebe Field Sat 19/10/24

WON 6-4

Genuine good win this one, as I felt we were in control from the get-go, firstly with AJ taking only a miserly nine pitches in the first to sit them down, and then not allowing them to score at all until a single run in the fifth.  No more from their batters until the last couple of digs, but we were well served early when Pappsy set the scene with a nice bunt to enable JC (Castellano) to deliver a RBI, followed in similar fashion by Cesar.  AJ had a sit after five or so and Troy N took over then Cesar had a throw and let Drew finish.  Meanwhile JC doubled to let two more in and Wade had a RBI of his own.  All solid stuff - so the season is off and running with two wins on the board.  Hits  :  Jose Castellano 3, Wade Moore, AJ Verastegui 1.

DIVISION TWO v Glenelg @ Don Klaebe Field Sat 19/10/24

WON 3-2

Slow going, and we didn't score until the last to pinch the win in spectacular fashion.  Davey Lodge tried to get us going in the second with a towering shot to the fence, but we couldn't make the most of it, and a whack to his ankle slowed him down for the rest of the day.  So there we were in the last with two runs down, and after Alfredo doubled and we had runners on, Harry the Hero stepped up with a triple and the three resulting runs gave us the result.  Dec was teriffic on the mound until, he like Dave, went down with an ankle and Ollie took up the slack until Nathan closed.  Hits  :  Todd Dunstall 2, Alfredo Rodreguez. Harrison Kiss, Ryan Stradling 1.

DIVISION THREE v Glenelg @ Don Klaebe Field Sat 19/10/24

Lost 4-14

The big difference in the scoreline was that we let them off to too big a start and were unable to peg them back.  Eight runs against in the first won't win a lot of games, but we were super competative from that point.  Diesal started and Dave took over, and Kossie kept them quiet in the latter innings.  Hits  :  Luke Taylor, Kosuke Ikeda, David Lodge, Diesel Fallon, Will Stock all singles.

DIV SEVEN Red v West Torrens @ Don Klaebe Field

Lost 3-17

Good win the previous week, but failed to keep the winning feeling going.  Found a few THH groung balls, and after scoring a commendable three runs in the first, slowed right down.

DIV SEVEN Blue Away v Kensington

Won 6-3

Very good result albeit with a few absences, but everybody pitching in and doing their bit.  Casey took over the starting pitcher duties and the big hitters were - M. Gomez 2 doubles, J Oakley i double, N. Oliver 1, C.Moore 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE  Away v Sturt Sun 20/10/24

Lost 3-4

Great win last week, and we come up against last year's premier team in round two.  Never out of our depth with our current blend of youth and experience, we kept pace with them all day and went into the last tied away at 3-3.  They scored one to just pip us on the post - no worries - a learning journey.  Alice Brown was the starter, and the hits came from Amara Quinn 2, Indie O'HazyZschorn, Dana BoersVeen, Beth Lee, Jemila Dadd 1.

DIVISION TWO v East Torrens @ Don Klaebe Field Fri 18/10/24

WON 13-5

Very convincing win, and Coach Sarah wants to point to the two newbies, namely Rachael Page and Alarna McCormack who acquitted themselves really well.  Also our pitchers were teriffic with Alice Morrrison striking out three and Dakota Ding striking out five.  Hits  :  Alice Brown 3, Jemila Dadd, Kym Wilson 2, Ashlee Stradling, Dakota Ding 1, and welcome back to Mackenzie St George who hit a double.

JUNIORS

T-Ball-We had a couple missing on holidays but had 6 T Ballers out for week 1.  Thanks to Luke & Chace for helping with coaching.

Pee Wee vs Henley & Grange.

All had a great time from all reports, with 11 players in the team all kitted out in their new uniforms and played well, the coach Chad doing his first game for the year reported it was a very good game and H&G were a good host.

Minor League

The team headed down South to take on the Hawks Navy Team. We only had 7 players for the game and unfortunately went down 8-2. It was amazing to see so much improvement in just 1 week. We ticked off so many firsts for the season. It started with our first piece of contact in the batters box and then followed straight away by our first safe hit of the year. Later in the game we scored our first run and also took our first catch in the outfield. Infielders were great making many put out once again. The magnificent 7 should be very proud of them selves.

Little League - Bye

Junior League vs Adelaide

Lost 8-4

We were down early and it crept out to 8-0, great fighting spirit to claw back 4 runs in our last 3 innings with some excellent team batting and great base running.  A good effort from all 3 pitchers Benji Hayes 2 Strikeouts, Luke Fawcett 2 strikeouts and Archie Wallis 2 strikeouts in 1 inning pitched. Some good hitting-Anton Kumar 2 (1 double), Chace Wallis 2 (1 double), Luke Fawcett 1, Archie Wallis 1.  With lots of players trying out new positions and roles, they did well.

Senior League vs West Torrens

Won 11-10

After being down for most of the game a big comeback came in the 3rd inning when the team scored 7 runs to make it 10-6, West Torrens weren't done yet getting 4 of their own in top 4th to make it 10-10.  With the bases loaded Diesel Fallon drew a walk off walk to make it 11-10.  Some great team play and fighting spirit.  Good pitching from Indie O'Hazy-Zschorn, Sebastian Bravo & Diesel Fallon.  Hits were:  Oliver Van Dommelle 2, Oliver Hayes 2, Matt Nanasi 1, Will Stock 1 & Diesel Fallon 1.

SENIORS

DIVISION ONE @ DON KLAEBE FIELD SAT 12/10/24 v Gawler

WIN 5-0

After three quick outs by AJ, our boys got off to an almost perfect start to our baseball season by the first three hitters (Wade, Cesar and Drew) getting on base and Troy knocking in our first run of two for the dig.  Runs from then on were scarce from both teams, with man of the match AJ really giving it to them in a powerful display, going six full innings to let Todd Van Steensel throw one, then Cesar and Drew mopping up.  Two definite highlights – a two run homer by Drew in the fifth and a solo shot by Cesar in the seventh.  No errors in an almost faultless outing, and the season is off to a flying start.  Hits :  Cesar Perez (HR) 3, Drew Janssen (HR) 2, Wade Moore, Jose Castellano, Troy Nicholson, Adenson Verastegui (AJ) 1.

DIVISION TWO @ DON KLAEBE FIELD SAT 12/10/24 v Gawler

Lost 2-4

We suffered our only senior defeat of the day, when our potentially good offensive team failed to deliver, with only two hits recorded for the day.  Our defence was solid – Declan really looked as if his work over the off season has paid off, and he was relieved after four by Ollie and Nathan closed.  Hits:  Alfredo Rodriguez, Nathan Nicholson 1.

DIVISION THREE @ DON KLAEBE FIELD SAT 12/10/24 v Gawler

WIN 15-3

Great win under the coaching of Dave Lodge, with fine hitting being the order of the day.  Dave took the new ball himself, and gave way for Diesel and Nathan did the finishing.  Runs came in every innings except one, with a nice blast of six runs in the last to clinch the deal.  Hits :  Todd Dunstall 2, Jimmy Chu 2, Kosuke Ikeda 2, Josh Boden 2, Nathan Nicholson 1, David Lodge 1, Seb Bravo 1.

DIVISION SEVEN – Blue v Glenelg @ Don Klaebe Field Sat 12/10/24

WIN 16-1

Terrific all round win, with everybody getting into the act, from Andrew Eime’s match winning pitching to Casey Moore’s three run in the park homer.  Great start!

DIVISION SEVEN – Red v Goodwood @ Flinders University.

The boys weren’t fazed about attending uni and came home with a resounding 13-5 win

WOMAN’S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE @ DON KLAEBE FIELD SUN 13/10/24 v H & Grange

WIN 18-9

Satifying win over the much hyped-up debutants in A Grade.  After a tentative and fumbly start, the girls got their act together and showed their class with powerful hitting and solid defence.  They gave up runs in the third, but were immediately able to rectify the situation and came home with the maximum runs in the last.  Amara and Dakota shared the pitching duties and the hits came from Molly Brown, Beth Lee 2, Indie O’Hazy Zschorn, Amara Quinn, Alice Brown, Leah Turner 1.  Welcome to Woodville to newbies Beth, Kelsey, Alice and Ashlee.

JUNIORS

U11 Minor League headed out to East Torrens for the first game of the year. The team of 8 did a great job even though we went down 0-9. Our fielding was fantastic as we were able to get the 3 outs in 2 of the 3 innings. (also recorded another 3 outs in the extra inning we played which was not recorded in the official result). Four pitchers used on the day - Ari, Koa, Nathaniel and Alessio. All did great jobs. Bat were a little quiet but contact will come.

U13 Little League lost to East Torrens at home. Kylah pitched very well as we held the top of their line-up scoreless through 2 innings. Some errors crept in and the East Torrens bats came alive. Lots of experience gained and learning opportunities identified. Hits: Ely Plaves 1

Under 15 Junior league

A hard fought tussle with the strong Pt Adelaide team for a 4-3 win, a great all around team effort with every player doing something special, great pitching from Chace Wallis 3 innings 7 strikeouts and 2 hits given up and Archie Wallis 2 innings relief for 2 strikeouts and no hits, our team whilst batting well had no hits but scored 4 runs with only 6 runners on base for the game.

U17 Senior League defeated Adelaide Angels 2-0, The pitchers did very well Seb Bravo had 5 strikeouts, Diesel Fallon had 3 strikeouts and Ollie Hayes had 2 strikeouts and Jack and Dakota 1 hit each.
