Woodville Baseball results w/e 23.11.25

DIVISION ONE away v Kensington Twilight Tue 18.11.25     WON 2-1

AJ started and as is his usual DNA this season, he was as tight as a drum, throwing the barest minimum of pitches per inning.  He went a strong five digs, allowing only one hit and gave way to Sammy who gave them just a sniff in extra innings when we made a couple of late errors in the field.  The excitement didn't start until the extras as it was 0-0, but began immediately when Jose C bamboozled them with a well timed bunt, which allowed our placed runner (Ted) to zoom home on a wild throw to third.  Wade followed up with an RBI and we won with them just getting the one run in their eighth with the help of the aforementioned errors.  Great to win out there, especially as the cross town traffic at 5.00pm doesn't leave too much for error.  Hits  :  Wade Moore, Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson, Ryan Stradling, Jose Pimentel, Breandan Taheny 1.

DIVISION ONE away v Goodwood Sat Nov 22, 2025.     Did not play.

It rained all during the leadup.  No clubrooms due to renovations - so it was a wet and dreary afternoon.

DIVISION TWO away v Goodwood Sat Nov 22, 2025.     Did not play - ditto.

DIVISION THREE away v Goodwood Sat Nov 22,v 2025.     WON 15-13

We took to the diamond at 9.00am on a dreary, overcast morning.  The game was played in constant drizzle among the construction site with a canteen (who's staff did a good job under the circumstances) in a shipping container, and toilets which were a cab fare away.  So, with the ball being like a bar of soap, Amara put in a fine performance until relieved by Goldy, who must have wondered what he was up against - a far cry from sunny Mildura.  A creditable performances all round.  We hit our straps in the second with a Todd RBI, a Rhys three RBI hit, and a Davey RBI, repeated in the fifth after a Ken walk, a Goldy single an Alice double and singles by Todd and Rhys.  We allowed them to get alarmingly close near the end, but Toddy's double at the death made us safe.  No list of hits - I think I lost it in the muddy dugout.

DIVISION FIVE away v West Torrens Sat Nov 22, 2025   Got a start - but was shortlived.

Hits Nate Oliver & Sam Kuhne 1

DIVISION SIX away v West Torrens Sat Nov 22, 2025     Lost 5-17

The high-flyers got their wings clipped after two weeks of terrific results.  Still playing a good brand of baseball and wins will keep coming.  Hits  :  Brad Atkinson 3, Derek Milne, Nick McCormack, Craig Mortimore 2, Aaron Petros 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE away v Sth. District Sun 23.11.25     Won 14-6

The girls are travelling along nicely at this stage, clocking up some impressive wins against the opposition.  Always good to come home from Christie Downs with a win under our belts, as we have had a bit of trouble at that venue in the past.  It was a good game from our point of view by all accounts, as I opted to stay at Woodville to catch the Under 14 team in action. Peyton took to the hill to start and the hits were  :  Sarah McMahon, Peyton Daniels 3, Alice Brown 2, Jemila Dadd, Dakota Ding 1.

DIVISION TWO away v GGCD Fri 21.11.25     WON 9-7

How about that - the top team in Div 2 just got beaten by our girls!

MASTERS @ West Beach Mon 17.11.25

DIVISION ONE v GGCD at Don Klaebe Field Sat 15.11.25     WON 6-1

With regular starter AJ on Giant duties in Perth (and pitching them to a win in game four) we relied on Jose Pimental to set the scene, and set the scene he did with eight wonderful innings pitched allowing only three hits and one run with twelve strikeouts. A fine starter in his own right.  On top of his good pitching, the defence was superb and went errorless for the afternoon, with our batters finally overcoming their starter by scoring runs in singles until we had a surge in the seventh on the back of some aggressive base running by Jose C. Cesar popped in for the close, and it all went effortlessly.  Hits  :  Wade Moore 3, Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson 2.

DIVISION TWO v GGCD at Don Klaebe Field Sat 15.11.25     WON 7-5

The bats were working early and we were assisted by a flurry of balls, and as a result we got runs on board with a minimum of fuss and gave ourselves some insurance for any comeback that the Dodgers' may mount.  Fourth dig, and Will Stock gave us two runs with his first senior home run - a forerunner we think of the future. All players contributed in some fashion, and Nathan was once again in prime form going seven innings and leaving the mound with us well in front.  Hits  :  Harrison Kiss, Luke Taylor, Will Stock (HR) 2,Jimmy Chu, Nathan Nicholson, Rhys Owen, Kosuke Ikeda 1.

DIVISION THREE v GGCD at Don Klaebe Field Sat 15.11.25     Lost 3-6

Not at all happy going down to the bottom side in a game that we should have eaten up.  Hitting was lacking at crucial times when we needed to step up, but a couple of KC's put paid to any comeback.  Amara is proving to be the "pick-off Queen" lately and got another victim at second, and Doggie once again strutted his stuff and can still throw some good tricky balls at the death.  Hits  :  One each to Kosuke Ikeda, Shane Brown, David Lodge, Josh Boden and Amara Quinn.

DIVISION FIVE away v Adelaide Sat 15.11.25     Lost 1-16

Didn't give the scorers much of a hassle with only two hitters for the day, namely Owen Williams with two and Jake Wilson with one.

DIVISION SIX away v Goodwood Sat 15.11.25     WON  11-5

Now, here's a story -  these boys are on a roll with two wins on the trot, and doing it in fine fashion as well.  Man of the match Soung Kim was on fire with seven unblemished plays from shortstop and Coach Brad is in line for "Coach of the year" honours.  Hits  : Derek Milne, Soung Kim 2, Nick McCormack, Craig Mortimor, Shane Lodge, Mike Chemny, Steve Couzner 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE away at Sturt Sun 16.11.25

Unfortunately, due to the state of the diamond, the game had to be postponed.

DIVISION TWO away v Sturt Fri 14.11.25     Lost 11-12

Lost it at the death as bad light was taking over. Hits  :  Kym and Molly 2, Adeyna, Bridget, Kylah, Indie (returning from injury). Kylah, Alyssa and Di pitched.

MASTERS lost 2-1 to Sturt hits Ken Inoue 2, Jimmy Chu 1, Dave Ding 1, good pitching from Doggy another 3 shutout innings. It was a good tight game!

JUNIOR LEAGUE

U18 at Don Klaebe Field Sun 16.11.25 v H & G     WON 9-0

Comprehensive win with Ollie Hayes in complete control on the hill, and there was some exciting stuff in the third as we powered our way to six runs.  Dakota closed, and the hits were  :  Jack Robson, Ollie Hayes 2, Benji Hayes, Will Stock, Dakota Ding, Luke Fawcett 1.

U14 at Don Klaebe Field Sun 16.11.25 v Sturt     Lost 2-4

Gave up two runs at the start, got them back to equal, and fell at the last with a couple of errors to give the game to the Blues.  Archie and Chris both had hits, and Archie and Kylah shared pitching duties.

U12 at Don Klaebe Field Sun 16.11.25 v Sturt     WON 12-10

U10 away v Gawler  Sun 16.11.25    WON 3-2

U8  always have fun

GODANATS !

DIVISION ONE away v H & G Sat 8.11.25 - Game one of double header - WON 3-0

Cold and windy conditions, but the boys were looking good in the first with the lead off batters all being caught on the home run fence off one of our old pitchers.  No score until the third however when Ted got on base and Cesar scored him with a long two bagger, but we had to wait until the third for another score after the scene repeated itself, with Ted again on base and then Cesar with another RBI.  Next dig, and we got another after a terrific at bat from Ted (again), scoring young Ryan, and that was the medlies - no more scoring.  The opposition was at a loss to counter the outstanding pitching performance of AJ, and I was told after the game by one of their biggest players that he was too good for them on the day.  The defence was terrific all game, with a couple of spectacular double plays being the highlights.  Lovely to take a game off the Rams.  Hits  :  Cesar Perez 2, Ryan Stradling, Brendan Taheny 1.

Game Two of double header away v H & G Sat 8.11.25 - Lost 0-3

The game was lost in the first, when we gifted them three unearned runs with uncharacteristic errors.  No more scoring from either side as the pitchers were right on top in a couple of fine displays - Jose Pimentel on our behalf, and another ex Senator on their side.  Not much more to say, as it was a tight contest after our bad start, and Jose Castellano got us on our feet in one play when he threw the guy out at home plate from deep in centre field.  Sammy Garcia finished from the mound after Jose came off, and did himself proud.  Hits  :  just the two, Hayden Carroll and Oliver Hayes.

One game apiece from the double-header, whilst not what we wanted in terms of results, it was pleasing knowing the strength of the opposing team.  Hits were at a premium in both contests, due solely to great pitching.

DIVISION TWO away v H & G Sat 8.11.25     Lost1-12

We did not record a single hit for the game, and, combined with some errors letting the opposition in, we had a disappointing loss.

DIVISION THREE away v H & G 8.11.25     Lost 4-9

Not a real bad showing, although still a loss.  Some redeeming features however in the game and Toddy Dunstall's home run with two runners on was an absolute highlight, as was Amara's two pick-offs - firstly at first base followed by one at second.  Bragging rights.  Hits  :  Josh Boden 2, Todd Dunstall (HR) 1.

DIVISION FIVE at Don Klaebe Field Sat 8.11.25     WON 12-6 v Sturt

Very good win this, with all playing well.  Jayden Oakley, Sam Kuhne and Josh Mignone each had two hits with Jayden hitting a homer, and Jake Wilson, Darryl Soar, Nate Oliver and Owen Williams all had one hit.  Owen Williams pitched well with five strikeouts and then Luke Fawcett finished off with three.

DIVISION SIX at Don Klaebe Field Sat 8.11.25     WON 15-3 v Sturt

Great, all round performance with seventeen hits for the day.  As usual, Dave Ding did the bulk of the work from the hill, and came off only to be relieved by the most secret of secret weapons - Steve Couzner - who bamboozled them with his speed and guile.  Hits  :  Derek Milne, Soung Kim, Aaron Petros, Brad Atkinson, Nick McCormack, Shane Lodge, Mike Chemny 2, David Ding, Steve Couzner, Craig Mortimer 1.

MASTERS 1ST game for the season at home against Adelaide, great game we won 13-0. Hits: Shane Brown 2, Nick McCormack 1HR, Jimmy Chu 1, Alfredo Rodriguez 1, Tim Fawcett 1, Noel Watson 1, Aaron Petros 1, Craig Mortimore 1, Gustavo Gonzalez 1, Shane Brown pitched 3 superb innings

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE away v Kensington Sun 9.11.25    WON 11-1

A really comprehensive win in a game that we dominated from the first pitch.  All our girls were on fire and were never in any danger, and the wins keep coming - hopefully it continues.  Alice was the starting pitcher and Peyton came in to close, and together they form a considerable force.  Smack is continuing on her winning way with the bat, and she has lots of mates chipping in.  Hits  :  Sarah McMahon 3, Alice Brown, Peyton Daniels, Carly Moore, Amber McMahon, Jemila Dadd 2, Dakota Ding 1.

DIVISION TWO AWAY V Goodwood Fri 7.11.25     Lost 7-10

Ashlee and Kylah both had safe hits and we managed to get bat on ball on a number of occasions, but ground outs and flyouts were unfortunately the outcome.  Kylah and Di each managed to strikeout one each.

JUNIORS

U18 lost 8-0

U14 lost 9-5

U12 lost 11-2

U10 won 12-0

U8 Had a great time!
