DIVISION ONE

Away v Adelaide 18.12.21

WON 14-5 Many, many highlights in a game that we entered with confidence and the mission was completed with a convincing win. Joel pitched as well as we have seen him in this marathon effort so far this season, Wade excelled with two massive homers (one of which was off the game's second pitch), and Weiny continues to be a ball magnet, getting hit twice in his five at bats along with two walks and a hit. The value we are getting from our lower end batters is really helping to keep the scoreboard clicking, as evidenced by doubles hit in clinch situations. After Wade got us going, we increased our lead with Todd's two run RBI, and Nathan's two run RBI in the fifth, and Wade's double got us another. The boy's posted their tenth in the seventh with Rackers getting in on the act getting Troy home who took over on the mound from Joel. But they were not finished, and Nathan and Wade both doubled again and we kept hitting and we loaded 'me up and got still more. All played well! Hits: Wade Moore 5, Luke Rackebrandt 3, Nathan Nicholson, Todd Dunstall 2, Ethan Marchioro, Troy Nicholson, Troy Weinert, Joel Chapman 1.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Adelaide 18.12.21

WON 7-2 Tyson took to the mound and, as he did last week, kept their bats quiet. DChap and Muggsy combined for our first couple, and the fifth was super productive with Muggsy's double knocking in two, Abby's RBI adding to the total and then AChap put one down the third base line to record two more for five. Weiney rolled his arm over for a couple of digs - looking good. Hits: Ryan Muggleton 3, Mitch Fienemann 2, Craig Abbott, Andrew Chapman 1

DIVISION THREE

Away v Adelaide 18.12.21

WON 7-1 Scored four in the first after Dave doubled to load the bases and the Coach stole home in a cheeky move. Left three out there though, could have got more. Dave doubled again in the second but couldn't beat the throw to home - we all know about the legendary Lodge pace! Second (Coach) and short (Petty) combined for a nifty pickoff in the fourth and then in the fifth we left 'em out there again after Josh hit, Kieran hit and the Coach took a hit. A terrific triple in the next by Breandan was rewarded when Jimmy got him home. Joe was faultless for the entire game, and Jimmy was king of the outfield. Hits: David Lodge 3, Breandan Taheny, Kieran Pett, Josh Tols, Shane Brown 2, James Chu, Josh Boden 1.

DIVISION SIX Home v Adelaide

Lost 5-7 Bad luck to miss out on this one, as the effort was there and the improvement was notable. Hits: Casey Moore, Tyson Jarvis, Steve Couzner, Owen Williams 2 Barry Eime, Nick McCormack 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Home v Adelaide

WON 28-3 Crushing win here on the back of thirty-one hits. Hits: Nick McCormack, Grant Behrandt, Troy Kortekaas 5,Steve Couzner, Adrian Sullivan(HR in the park)4. Cam Britcher, Nat Oliver, Noel Watson, Craig Reval 1.

DIVISION EIGHT

Away v Adelaide

Lost 7-10 Were travelling along nicely and then ran into that poor innings again, giving up seven. A mini fightback was to no avail and we fell short. We left a few too many out there, but I'm sure that will be addressed by their astute Coach. Hits: Aaron Petros, Brad Atkinson, David Ding 2, Derek Milne, Greg Oxenham, Shane Lodge 1

WOMANS LEAGUE

Away v Sturt

Lost 0-10 The girls seem to be just drifting along until the Christmas break. Let's hope they get their mojo back in time for finals. Sturt are a pretty good team in this competition, but so are we when at full strength. Hits today: Leah 2, Cathy 1, Alyssa 1.

JUNIORS

U15 Junior League - put up a very creditable performance against West Torrens and lost narrowly 9-12.

The U13 Little League teams were "Covided" out today with their respective opponents having to cancel due to close contact problems within their Clubs.

The U11 Minor League team didn't ave their best day and lost 4-16.

Peewees as usual had fun.

Terrific weekend of baseball at Don Klaebe Field and other venues, with close results, walk-offs and wins and losses. With just one game to go before the Christmas break some of out teams are possisioning themselves to make a charge to finals.

DIVISION ONE

Home at Don Klaebe Field

Saturday 11.12.21 v Sth Districts

WON 9-2 Needed this one, as the Hawks knocked us off in round one by a single run, and they have been having a good time of it since, being high on the ladder. Both sides took a while to get mobile with both pitchers on top, but we broke our duck in the fourth with a bases loaded walk and a passed ball run. South replied with two, but we were able to get four runs in the seventh when Todd walked, Wade and Ethan both hit, and Troy got them home, but the best was yet to come, as Troy belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to put the result beyond doubt. Joel was his tireless best for six, Troy did a couple and Cesar put them to bed. satisfying win to finish a memorable day. Hits: Troy Nicholson (hr) 3, Wade Moore 2, Ethan Marchioro, Cesar Perez, Todd Dunstall, Joel Chapman 1.

DIVISION TWO

Home at Don Klaebe Field v Sth Districts

WON 8-7 Nail biting win this one. Came down to the wire and we walked it off in the last when we were staring at a 7-7 score line. We had two outs, Finners got on, Breandan went in to pinch run, and with great base running, got home for the win. Earlier we were in a bit of strife being six nil behind, but Tyson was brought on and he dried them up. Harry got us going, and Abbey was a big contributor with two RBI's. This was our second walk- off for the day at the same venue, a bit much for some of the oldies. Hits: One each to Jesse Toepfer, Rhys Owen, Mitch Fienemann, Craig Abbott, Harry Kiss, Tyson Hancock. (See - pitchers love to bat)

DIVISION THREE

Home at Don Klaebe Field v Sth Districts Lost 3-10 Dunno why, but our bats were asleep for the first five innings, while we let them accumulate seven runs. We woke up in the sixth when Brayden started us off and we plated three to make it a little more respectable. The last two weeks we scored fifty to one, but what is that old saying - it's on the day. Hits: Brayden Marchioro, James Chu, Shane Brown, Josh Mignone 1.

DIVISION SIX

Played away at Sth District and lost 4-15 with Casey Moore doing a good job from the hill and getting two hits, and Nick McCormack also two, with Owen Williams and Noel Watson one each.

DIVISION SEVEN

Also went south but had a better result, beating the locals 17-0. Lots of good outings here with Sully pitching well and even Tyson getting in on the act, and Behr hit three times, Sully and Nicko twice, and Cuz, Tyson, Cam and Nate one each.

DIVISION EIGHT

Home at Don Klaebe Field v Sth Districts

WON 9-8 This was the game that started everybody's day with a smile - the first walk-off of the day. We started much better than in previous weeks, and were leading after four, but then had a couple of ordinary innings and we went into the last needing six for victory. We got them thanks to a timely triple from Laurie, and we had heros up and down the lineup, even the Coach put in a big one. Brad was extremely solid, and the hits were: Brad Atkinson, Laurie Sinclair 2, Derek Milne, Shane Nicholson, Greg Oxenham, Eddie Ansell, Shane Lodge, Mike Chemnitz, David Ding 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

Home at Don Klaebe Field v Sth Districts Draw 8-8 We gave up two to start, but Darna put the tighteners on an we took the lead with solid hitting. But then it got tight, even after Kenzi stole a couple of bases and got home. So - come to the last and we need two to win. Carol's hit to rightfield gave us hope and Lisa put one up the middle to load the bases and we levelled on a passed ball, but that was all she wrote. Hits: Two to Lisa Hage and Megan Boers, and one each to Catie Berry, Leah Turner, Sarah McMahon and Carol Ryan.

JUNIORS

Under 15's lost to Sturt 4-18 and Under 13 (1) were very stiff going down to Sturt 5-7, and the Under 13 (2) lost to Gawler 4-10, but the mighty Under 11's beat Gawler 8-4. Peewees had fun.

DIVISION ONE

Away v Nth Districts - Twilight Tues 30/11/21

WON 21-0

A dinky hit up the middle by Cesar started proceedings as Wade scored on the hit, then a Weiny RBI and we had three and went through the lineup. So Weiny strode to the mound and put them away, as he did for the whole game. Wade led off again in the second and promptly sent one sailing over the fence for the first of our ten runs for the inning which included a three run homer by Troy. We only scored one in the third when Rackers crossed the plate courtesy of a sac fly, but plated another seven in the fifth to make sure of the mercy. Sixteen hits said it all, with Wade starring having five,Troy Nicholson three, two each to Ethan Marchioro, Cezar Perez and Troy Weinert, and one to Luke Rackerbrandt andJoel Chapman. Div one had a bye on Saturday 4/12/21.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Gawler Saturday 4/12/21

WON 5-3

We looked to be travelling easy at 3-1 up after six, but the Rangers gave us a scare by hitting a two run homer in the seventh to square it away. DChap had done a terrific job to that point, and Finners was left to mop up after AChap had put us up with a two RBI hit to right field. Earlier Petty had hit a double,Tom’s bunt advanced him and Harry’s sac fly got him home. Hits: Kieran Pett 2, Rhys Owen, Daniel Chapman, Andrew Chapman, Breandon Taheny 1.

DIVISION THREE

Away v Gawler Saturday 4/12/21

WON 17-0

Joe Chapman has conceded just the bare one run in his last two outings - a fine job. We kicked off with six runs in the first with Kossy burning up the bases, then nine in the second, two in the third and didn't manage any more. Left three on bases in the last, which wasn’t ideal, but the damage had well and truly been done at that stage. The defence was great, and Brayden at second was outstanding. Hits: Brayden Marchioro, Jimmy Chu 3, Josh Mignone 2, Kosuke Ikeda, David Lodge, Josh Boden 1.

DIVISION SIX

v Playford City

Lost 1-3.

Tight game at home and Lawrie Moore recorded the lone hit and scored, and Casey Moore put in a good one on the mound.

DIVISION SEVEN

v Flinders at home

WON 9-2

Sully was the winning pitcher and the hitters didn’t let him down, with himself getting two hits, Nick McCormack two, Behr two, and Cam one.

DIVISION EIGHT

Away v Gawler Saturday 4/12/21

Lost 3-6

In this topsy-Turvey season, you just don’t know what to expect. They way we started, you would think we were in for a heavy loss after conceding three early runs, but we pegged them back one at a time and got square, only to blot our copybook with a poor inning to give up another three. Highlight of the game was Laurie Sinclair’s reflex putout at third and throw to first. Brad and Aaron did the pitching.

WOMENS LEAGUE

v Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 5/12/21

Lost 3-18

We got a couple of our players back, but fell behind early and couldn’t bridge the gap. The defeat gave the coaches the chance to throw the team around and a couple of players relished the changes and adapted really well to their new spots. So, some positives out of the negative, with the returning Carly expected after Xmas. Hits: One each to Catie Berry, Megan Boers, Leah Turner, Darna Veen.

JUNIORS - not a lot to report, but a terrific finish saw the Little League div two team stage a fantastic finish over the top of the table Goodwood team, winning in a walk-off 14-13. It was great to be there.
