DIVISION ONE

Away v Sth District 5.11.22

WON 7-4

Danger game this one, playing one of last year's finalists at their home ground without two of our top players who were fronting for their Country in Japan. The game was not all plain sailing, and we used five pitchers in quick rotation to keep the Hawks at bay. We were never headed, getting a fine start courtesy of a Wade double in the second on which we were able to capitalise, but a home team homer sat us on our heels briefly until Troy N got the momentum going our way again and then Rackers grounded out to get Drew home and an error gifted us another, and a passed ball set us up for our seventh. Good enough for the win, but they tried in the last to catch our total - but no dice. The pitchers were - Tyson McKee, Joel Chapman, Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson and Drew Janssen, and the hits were Drew Janssen, Callum Park 2, Troy Nicholson, Ethan Marchioro, Wade Moore 1. There were plenty of contentious moments throughout the entirety of the game, but we came away with the win in the end, so phew!

DIVISION TWO

Away v Sth District 5.11.22

Lost 2-5

An uncharacteristic loss this one - the first of the season. Joe Chapman went 3.2 innings relieved by Nathan Nicholson and both pitchers did their job, but Rhys was the star of the show with two rbi's in the fourth to nudge us into the lead, albeit briefly, as the home team lodged four which proved to be our downfall. Had a real chance in the next dig but left full bases out there, a golden opportunity gone begging. These guys will not take this lying down, they will be back with a vengeance next week out at Northern Districts. Hits : Todd Dunstall, Nick Kuhn, Mitch Fienemann (a fence rattler) 1.

DIVISION THREE

Away v Sth District 5.11.22

WON 4-2

Breandan and Rhys got us going with a run in the first, aided by some home team fumbling, which continued all game, and of course the return of crowd favourite Jimmy Chu cheered us all up. Rhys was having a day out with four rbi's (that made six for the afternoon), but we still left men on base far too often, We should have won by a lot more on the back of Tyson's superb five inning stint with eleven strikeouts and no hits for the first four. Joey Papps cleaned up at the end and the hits were : Harrison Kiss, Rhys Owen 2, Breanden Taheny, David Lodge (a cracker of a double - you should have seen him scamper) James Chu 1.

DIVISION SIX Had their colours lowered to the tune of 3-10 against GGCD. Some good performances and the hits recorded were : Aldo McCormack 3, Andrew Eime, 2, and one each to Flash, Lawrie Sinclair, Owen Williams, Casey Moore 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Defeated Adelaide 9-0 and why wouldn't you be confident leading into the season proper with the pitching capabilities of Sully and Casey who both performed extremely well in the win. We scored heavily in the third and the sixth to shut them out and our hitting just gets better and better with the hits being : Cuz (he loves the high ones) 3, Sully 2, Watto ( Super bat), Nicko, Cam, China, Fitzy and Dorny* How are the knees mate*, that was a super effort to go the distance behind the plate after that surgery. Three votes !!

DIVISION EIGHT

Returned to the winners' circle with a one run win over East Torrens at Paynham. Sure to bring a smile to the face of Azza and his merry men - so deserved. Hits : Tony Tuttle, Shane Nicholson 2, Aaron Petros, Derek Milne, David Ding, Kim Hoong 1.Happy win 8-7.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

V Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 6.11.22

Draw 7-7

Not the result we were looking for after taking the season on and playing some terrific baseball early, but you have to take the good with the bad and suck it up.There were some fantastic highlights during the course of the game, namely Leah got Alyssa home after her long double, then SMack's two rbi's and Alyssa's hit gave us four for the dig, and while we were looking for one more, a prolonged rundown between third and home plate saw Darna face planting with no result. Amara tripled and got home on a passed ball, but with Darna reaching her pitching limit the opposition managed to sneak a draw. Bugga.. Three votes D. BoersVeen. Hits : Alyssa Lasscock 3, Darna BoersVeen, Leah Turner 2, Ash George, Amara Quinn. Sarah McMahon 1.

DIVISION TWO

v Glenelg at Don Klaebe Field 5.11.22.

Draw 5-5.

Had a terrific contest against the Bays at Don Klaebe Field and came away with a draw 5-5. Kristie threw three fine innings, backed up by Alice's powerful two inning stint - all the girls shone in a fine performance, and were really unlucky that the rub of the green at one stage favoured the visiting team. Plenty of good times ahead, and we want another crack at them.

JUNIORS

U15

Once again had a convincing win, this time against H & G to the tune of 23-1. Huge game on the footy oval, with the "man of the match" having to go to Indy with her final two innings shut-out - six strikes outs on the back of a nice double. All played their part and they have to now keep the momentum going.

U13(1)

Kept their season ticking along with a 14-11 defeat of Goodwood, with some outstanding performances. Firstly - a home run bomb by Jacob Atkinson (where was Tash?), and an in the park home run by the quick Chace Wallis who had two hits for the day, Anton Kumar had four, Remy Brooks, Max Schenk, and Jacob Atkinson had one each. Great catch by the birthday girl Kylah, thanks for the beaut cakes. U13 (2)

Travelled to Goodwood for the second time this season and actually got to play cause the rain was nowhere in sight! They started really well with Roni on the mound and pitching really well but unfortunately went down 15-3. Max hit a double past the cones, Eli in his first game had a hit and made a force out at third and Riley got a couple of hits. U11

They call this Minor League - nothing "minor" about these guys. They took on Goodwood and whilst they lost 2-9, they were terrific with Myles and Bohdi hitting well at the end to put a scare into the home side. U14

Last game of the day was v Kensington at Kensington went down 15-5. Remy and Dakota pitched well. Biggest highlight of the day was Luke stealing home and scoring the run - it brought a smile to everyone's face.

DIVISION ONE

v Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field 29.10.22

Lost 6-14

A flying start by the Angels saw them shoot out to a seven zip lead after two and they powered on to a nine nil advantage at the end of four innings.  No excuses, but our two Australian pitchers playing for the Giants in Perth would have been handy.  Callum popped one up for our first, and Wade batted in a couple followed by similar from Ethan, and our new acquisition Drew Janssen crowned his first appearance with us with a nice homer.  Welcome Drew - hope there is a few more of those to come.  Not a total disaster, the opposition was completely unrecognisable from what we have been used to over previous years, but we will continue to hang in there and see how it all pans out.  Hits  : Drew Janssen (HR), Ethan Marchioro 2, Cesar Perez, Wade Moore, Callum Park, Nathan Nicholson 1.

DIVISION TWO

v Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field 29.10.22

Drew 4-4

Our undefeated Div Two team had to settle for a draw after falling behind three nil in three, before we got a two run RBI off Rhys's bat and a Pappsy RBI to square it away.  Joe had done his bit and was relieved by Joel who didn't give them a sniff in the concluding innings, and a draw at this stage of the season beats the hell out of a loss.  Hits  :  Joe Papps 2, Todd Dunstall, Brenden Pett, DChapman, Rhys Owen, Jose Ramirez 1.

DIVISION THREE

v Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field 29.10.22          Lost 4-6

The boys and gals suffered their first defeat of the season even after racing to the lead when Breandan tripled to notch up two, and things went a bit stagnant until (for the second week in a row) Toby K hit a double to score one.  Errors were not our friend and we coughed up enough to let the other mob in.  Tyson did a great job in the middle, and Joey continued on the good work.  Hits  :  Kosuke Ikeda, Rhys Owen, Breandan Taheny, Toby Kortkaas, Tyson Jarvis 1.

DIVISION SIX

Didn't have the best of luck in going down 1-13, with the hits - all singles - to Tim Fawcett, Andrew Eime, Laurie Sinclair, Justin Randal, and Craig Mortimer.

DIVISION SEVEN

Knocked off H&G to the tune of 16-6 with Casey Moore going the distance, superbly backed up by his offense chiming in with eighteen hits including two from newbie Jono.  Who needs Behr??  Hits  :  Nicko, Cuz, Sully, China 3, Cam, Jono 2, Casey and Superbat Watto 1.  Catch of the year ??  -  Had to be Jono!

DIVISION EIGHT

Lost to Kensington 3-9

Lots to come out of this game - not disgraced by any means.  They played a really attractive game and were unlucky at stages not to be able to record a cherished win.  Ding continues to improve on the mound and Shane was a reliable closer, but a bit of attention to the general fielding and batting wouldn't go astray. Hits  :  Aaron Petros 2 Derek Milne 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field 30.10.22

WON 9-1

Really great to see the girls back at home base with their infectious enthusiasm, especially when they bring their A grade game with them. A few highlights - Carly's two hits - a triple and a double, Darna's form on the mound, Skye's fantastic attempt to slide at home plate, Lisa B's instant fame as a fully qualified baseballer.  Honestly, the girls were not troubled at all, except for the injury count as Alyssa had her thumb jammed onto the bat, Ash had a pitch thump into her ankle, and worst of all, Meggsie, who redamaged her already troublesome knee. Hope all is ok.  Hits  :  Carly Moore, Sarah McMahon, Amara Quinn 2, Ash George 1.  Amara closed for Darna - what a combo!

DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field 28.10.22

WON 17-9

How about that?  A second Ladies team! Welcome girls to your inaugural game, and on the home diamond as well. All did their bit and they were a cut above their opposition and ran out easy winners on the back of Christie Ikeda's pitching and Alice Brown's closing.  A good blend of youth and experience in this team.  Hits recorded were  :  Molly Brown, Mel Askins, Toni Fotheringham 2, Toni Ansell, Alice Brown 1.  Great start girls - keep it going.

JUNIORS

Junior League - U15

Had a good win over Adelaide 9-0 after the "ground crew" (mums, dads and assorted helpers) did a fantastic job of clearing the tarpaulins from the diamond after the prolonged rain.  Game got under way with only a fifteen minute delay, and our girls and boys clocked up another win with Alice and Haysy proving too good from the hill, and the hits were  :  Oliver Hayes 3, Little bro Benji Hayes 2, Alice Brown, Jack Robson 1.

Intermediate - U14

Played the last game out at Goodwood - unfortunately going down 14-7. After a very slow start the team managed to bounce back with some excellent pitching by Dakota. Whilst we got lots of hits we just couldn’t catch up those early runs!

Little League - U13

Both our Div one and Div two teams had their games curtailed due to rain - no result, a pity as both teams were leading when the rain intervened.  Next week guys.

Minor League -U11

No rain up at Kensington in the early morning start, but the team were beaten 2-4 with Bodhi, Myles and Kylah shining on the mound.

Good stuff Mini League played bright and early on the back diamond versus a very experienced Adelaide team. Our youngest team going down 6-0 but improving every week under Laurie Sinclair’s  guidance.

DIVISION ONE

Had a bye and dodged having to make the trek out to Gawler.

DIVISION TWO

Away     v     Gawler     22.10.22

WON 15-11

The final scoreline flattered the home team somewhat, as we jumped them and held the ascendancy all game, only to lapse in concentration in the latter stages, but still record a victory to remain unbeaten thus far this season.  Muggsy paved the way with a three RBI double, and a DChap two run homer along with brother Andrew's hit notched up six early runs.  Gawler threatened but we took the momentum again after a Rhys RBI, and we plated a further six in the seventh on the back of yet anther Muggsy double followed by similar from Finners.  All the boys were contributing at this stage, and Joe Chapman sat down after a fine six digs, and then the Ranger guys broke out their bats and it was left to Finners to put their lights out.  Good result in the end with the hitters being  :  Todd Dunstall, Daniel Chapman, Mitch Fienemann, Andrew Chapman 3, Ryan Muggleton 2, Rhys Owen, Nathan Nicholson, Jose Rameriz 1.

DIVISION THREE

Away     v     Gawler     22.10.22

WON 12-3

After a good confident start, the home team came back at us and equalled after two, but we managed to pull away again with hits to Amara and Joey forcing errors. Joey Papps was on the mound looking the goods and was relieved by the evergreen Nat Nicholson, who kept them to a minimum.  A Toby Kortekaas double started the ball rolling in the last inning and we went away with the game.  Hits  :  Joe Papps, David Lodge, Toby Kortekaas, Nathan Nicholson 1.

DIVISION SIX

Played Glenelg at Don Klaebe Field and went down 5-17 with Brad Atkinson and Eddie Ansell each having one hit.

DIVISION SEVEN

Also played at home against last years premiers and had a very meritorious win 9-5 on the back of a solid effort on the mound by Sully, who was so exhausted by his four digs that he fell over in the batters box.  Casey finished off for him, and the whole team's performance was terrific.  Hits  :  Casey Moore, Fitzy 2, Hulk, Watto, Sully, Nicko, Flash 1.

DIVISION EIGHT

Away     v     Gawler     22.10.22

Lost 10-11

Really looked like carrying on from last week's fine win, by streaking to a 10-2 lead after three,  which could have been more but for a momentous base running kerfuffle at one stage.  Cue the Benny Hill music!  What a hoot - had everyone in stitches,  But we tired toward the end.  Hits  :  Aaron Petros, Mike Chemny 2, Derek Milne, David Brooks 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE  -  DIV ONE

Away v East Torrens 23.10.22

WON 15-2

First of all, well done to the ET boys and girls for getting the diamond up and running on time after the overnight rain.  We certainly relished the conditions and had a great first dig notching up four runs after Carly hit a single, Meggsie hit a RBI double and was followed by SMack, Alyssa and Darna all getting in on the act.  In the next two there was plenty of good  hitting with doubles to SMack and Carly being the highlights.  Darna was unhittable at this stage almost, and we found ourselves being gifted a few unearned runs as the game proceeded.  Much better than the previous week   Hits  :  Carly Moore 3, Skye Tasiopolous 2, Sarah McMahon, Christie Ikeda 1.

JUNIORS

U15 - Very good win against GGCD 28-1.  At Don Klaebe Field.  Todd Van Steensel joined the coaching staff which gave the guys and gals a huge lift, with his hi-fiving of  each of them as they came off the diamond.

U14 - Started confidently at the Port, leading 4-0 until game abandoned.

U13(1) Played really well at Don Klaebe Field defeating Port 11-2 with Remy Brooks and Chase Wallis holding the opposition bats at bay.  Hits  :  Max Schenk, Benji Hayes, Hugo Marshall, Anton Kumar 2, Riley Sinclair 1.

U13(2)  No play.

Minors  No play

U10  Lost to Goodwood 2-3

                                                                                   GODANATS!!
