DIVISION ONE
Away v W Torrens
Lost 3-15
Game one of double header. The first couple of innings went ok, with Mitch putting up stiff opposition to their offence. The Eagles scored three in the third, but we squared it up with a Muggsy three run homer immediately after. We changed pitchers, and with that, runs started to flow against us. They had the luxury of multiple choices on the mound, and we did not. Our hitters tried valiantly, but getting on base was a problem. Hits: Wade Moore, Callum Park, Craig Abbott, Daniel Chapman, Ryan Muggleton (HR), Brayden Marchioro 1.
Game Two of double header - away v W Torrens
Lost 3-9 This game lasted the distance and we were leading 2-1 after three, with a nice double from Troy leading to a run when Abbey got him home with a sac fly. But the runs dried up and we had to wait til the last for our next run when DChap (David?) put one over, meanwhile runs came regularly for the home team at their flash new facility. Joel put up a good effort, but weight of numbers played against him. Also, it seems like every other week we come up against a former Senator on the mound. Makes life hard. Hits: One each to Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Daniel Chapman (HR), Joel Chapman and Nathan Nicholson.
DIVISION TWO
Away v W Torrens
Lost 2-1 Anyone's game. Ultra tight all the way with Tyson dominating on the mound with five of the innings being scoreless. They got one in the first, but we replied immediately when Tom's hit got Rhys home, and he didn't trip up at third, but the winning run came in the last for the home team. Truly, could have gone either way. Daniel closed, and the hits were: Rhys Owen 2, Joel Chapman, Tom Dineen 1.
DIV FIVE Still searching for that elusive first win, with all hopes for the last game of the season this Saturday at home.
DIV SIX
Put in a couple of ordinary innings in defence, with errors contributing to the 6-11 loss to H&G. The boys are copping their fair share of injuries, and, here's hoping, most will be on deck for the finals. Sully was not a happy chappy with the result.
DIV SEVEN
Drew with H&G 4-4, in a tight game which was a bit of a cliff hanger. Casey once again showed his vast improvement on the hill, and I reckon Judy lost her pen, because the only hits she gave me were one each to Aaron Petros, Derek Milne, James Stradling and Nick McCormack.
WOMAN'S LEAGUE
In this topsy turvey season, the ladies lost to the ladder leaders 4-6. Still in finals though. Only two hits were recorded - Sarah McMahon and Darna Veen.
U15 Junior League
Once again played two games this week with mixed results. Firstly a win over Glenelg 10-6 and then a loss way up in Gawler 7-18,with Alice and Ollie helping out by filling in and getting on base with walks as did Beau.
U13 Little League
The Woodville team played at home and lost to Goodwood 7-23 with too many errors contributing to the scoreline. A couple of highlights were an almost home run by Jacob, and Ollie threw some nice strikes.
The Senators team went away to the Dodgers and came away 11-5 victors. Alice and Dakota collected hits, and Ollie and Alice both pitched two innings with five strikeouts each. Jack was in a lovely double play, and Dash came in to close. Sets up a beauty for this Sunday at home at 11.00am between these teams (a junior derby), as there is nothing between them.
U11 Minors
Went on their winning way by beating Gawler at Gawler 12-7. They are a fixture in the finals, so all the best.
Peewee continued to have fun, and the coaching is really paying dividends with the improvement obvious to all.
