DIVISION ONE

Twilight v West Torrens 8.02.22 at Don Klaebe Field.

Lost 6-8

With all the rain that fell during the day, we got off to a start - albeit a bit slippery in parts - and the Eagles posted a run in their first at bat. The bottom of the first belonged to our batters however, going through the lineup with Wade, Cesar, Troy N, Joel, Abby and Ethan all recording hits to knock in six runs. The mound was a little treacherous by this stage, and first Wieny and then Cesar had trouble with their footholds, and Torrens eventually gained the lead. Nathan closed and did a good job of containment to concede no runs in over two digs. The game was an indication that we are not far off the mark against the top teams, and I'm sure we gave them something to think about. Wieny's double play at the death was a highlight. Hits: Cesar Perez, Troy Nicholson, Joel Chapman 2, Wade Moore, Craig Abbott, Nathan Nicholson, Ethan Marchioro 1.

DIVISION ONE

Home v East Torrens 12.02 22 at Don Klaebe Field

WON 8-5 Tolsy on the mound was always going to give us a bit of a head start and so it proved to be, when he threw ten strike outs whilst only conceding one run in his seven innings stint. We just seemed to be coasting early with single runs coming in the first few frames, and we accelerated in the fourth with a Cezar two run hit to put in two. From the on it was a bit of a standoff, with nobody getting a distinctive advantage. But we maintained our lead and went on to a decisive win to keep finals in sight. Hits: Todd Dunstall, Luke Rackerbrandt, Cezar Perez, Joel Chapman 2, Ethan Marchioro,Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Troy Weinert, Josh Tols 1

DIVISION TWO

Catch up game v GGCD at Don Klaebe Field Wed 9.02 22

WON 12-11 The Dodgers got two but we equalled off the back of a Kieran two run homer. We fell behind when Golden Grove posted a six run inning and we started a mini comeback when AChap had a two RBI hit, and we continued to claw the runs back. Finners was having a bit of trouble on the hill and was relieved by the wily Kieran and then the miserly Tyson. So we go to the bottom of the last at 9-11 down and soon had loaded bases and two out. What happens next? Well you couldn't write the script. Carly comes to the plate as a pinch hitter and despite the thinly veiled derision from opposition supporters, takes two strikes and then calmly belts one to rightfield for the base clearing double and the walk-of win. Stupendous. The place went nuts - what a ripper. Hits: Kieran Pett (HR) 4, Daniel Chapman, Andrew Chapman 2, Chris Sims, Mitch Fienemann, Tom Dineen, Carly Moore 1.

DIVISION TWO

v East Torrens at Don Klaebe Field 12.02.22

Draw 9-9 The big sexy got us going in the first with a double, but it was the second that seemed to be the winning inning when Harry's hit, Muggsy's two run dinger, Simsy and Nats RBI got us five for the dig. Abby hit a two run RBI in the fourth and we were looking the goods, but we leaked runs in the last couple of innings to fall behind and in the last there were thoughts of another walkoff (two in a week)? but we only got the one to equalise. Damn. Hits: Ryan Muggleton (HR) 2, Rhys Owen, Chris Sims, Nathan Nicholson, Chris Abbott 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

After trouncing the top team last week, we were all looking forward to the Bay's encounter, hoping that last week's win would be the springboard for the forthcomong finals. What a disappointment! We were never in the hunt, conceding far to many runs early and unable to make up the difference. Lost 1-11.

DIVISION THREE

v East Torrens at Don Klaebe Field 12.02.22

Draw 2-2 Dave Lodge and Kosi got the game going in the first by combining for our first and when Jarrod hit a double in the second it was you beaut, how good is this. But that was the end of the good times and we let them in to score two and that was the end of the penny section - no more. Hits: David Lodge 2, Breandon Taheeny, Carly Moore, Harrison Kiss, Jarrod Marsland 1

DIV SIX and DIV SEVEN were the travelling teams, and all the way to Payenham, where they both recorded losses, Not sure of the Sixers score, but the Sevens lost 4-13 in what could be described as an upset with Behr doing his best from the mound with eight strikeouts and two hits, Flash, Sully, Nicko and Cam 1.

DIV EIGHT

Although going down 3-10, the whole team acquitted themselves well against a pretty good side, Aaron pitched the best game he has had for a while, but his offense failed to back him up on most occasions. Hits: Tim Russell 2, Aaron Petros, Mike Chemny 1.

JUNIORS

U15 - You beauty - first win for this season to reward the hard working team of Coaches and players. Well deserved. WON 7-0 over H&G

U13 (1) Also defeated H&G 12-8

U13 (2) Lost 3-11

U11 WON 8-6 in what was a really good day for our Club.

Starting off this week with the Ladies because of their startling win over the previously undefeated top team - Sturt.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE v Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 6.02 22

WON 9-2

Dana really set the scene with a 1-2-3 first dig, but last year's premier team knocked in two runs soon after to hit the front. Lisa hit a big double, followed by Alyssa's which produced our first run and with Lisa starring with another hit out to the fence, we scored three to steam to the lead. The fifth belonged to Carly as we racked up five after her in her in the park home run, and we finished off the job in the last with a superb double play. Pure baseball the girls played all day, with no errors, all catches taken and all getting a chance to contribute. Hits : Megan Boers, Alyssa Lasscock 2, Carly Moore, Leah Turner, Sarah McMahon, Lisa Hage 1.

DIVISION ONE

v Port at Don Klaebe Field Twilight 1.02.22

Lost 4-7 Another one of those frustrating could have - should have - didn't games. Gees we have left heaps of these games this season out there and it is so disappointing when we play teams lower on the ladder and let them dictate terms. In this one, Josh stood up and we had the lead deep into the game, plating an impressive four runs in the third when Wade doubled and they walked Troy N and a passed ball scored a couple and Racker's hit got two more home. Tantalisingly, we were close to scoring a few more again, but no result, and then Josh finished his stint and the wheels fell off. Hits : Ethan Marchioro 2, Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Cesar Perez, Luke Rackerbrandt 1.

DIVISION ONE v Glenelg Away 5.02.22

Lost 2-6 Geepers creepers - this is almost a "ditto" of the above. We had two moments only for the entire game - huge home run from Rackers (almost went to the airport) and another solo effort by Troy Nicholson. Team batting seems to have gone out of the window lately, especially when we come up against these lower clubs, who love putting the boots in - our fault - we let them. Hits : Troy Nicholson 2, Todd Dunstall, Luke Rackerbrandt, Tom Dineen 1.

DIVISION TWO

v Glenelg Away 5.02 22

WON 7-6 Meritorious victory this one after letting the Bays score two, two, two in their first three digs. All was not lost however, as Muggsy smashed a two run homer to start a four run inning and set us up for a final push. Abbey doubled and got home on a Mugg's hit to enable us to take the lead, and record a really gutsy, come from behind win, on the back of DChap's save. Hits: Ryan Muggleton (HR), Kieran Pett, Mitch Fienemann, Chris Sims 2, Daniel Chapman, Craig Abbott 1.

DIVISION THREE

v Glenelg Away 5.02.22

WON 7-1 Just clocking up the wins on the back of an exceptional season of work by starting pitcher Joe Chapman, We shot to an early lead and were never headed, due to good team batting and fine defence. Nothing more to say really, the guys are just getting it done and sit high on the ladder, Hits : Jimmy Chu 4 ,(and at least that many fine outfield catches), Rhys Owen 2, Richard Olson,1, David Lodge 1, Shane Brown , Jarrod Marsland 1.

DIV SIX and DIV SEVEN didn't actually set the world on fire this weekend unfortunately. losing 1-17 and 3-10 respectively to the Bays at Don Klaebe Field, with no-one recording a hit in the Sixers, and the Sevens faring a little better having Tyson Jarvis and Cuz having two hits each, and Nick, Flash and Dorny 1.

DIVISION EIGHT

Lost to H&G

Once again lost it in one inning, giving up the maximum in the second, really putting the kybosh on final's aspirations. Hits : Greg Oxenham 3. Aaron Petros, Shane Nicholson, David Ding 1.

JUNIORS

Great to see both diamonds full of lively and energetic youngsters today. U15 lost to Kensington U13 (1) Won 15-1 U13 (2) Lost 4-13 U11 Won 6-1

DIVISION ONE

Twilight v Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 25.01.22

Lost 2-10 Boom!

A couple of Tolsey's fast balls were dispatched over the fence in a fierce start by the Saints as they went to a three run lead before we had a chance to get bat in hand. They were contained for a few digs as we slowed them down, but we were not getting bat on ball often enough to make any impression. Another bomb in the fourth, and a three run inning in the sixth had us reeling, and thank goodness, we got a few hits when Cesar doubled, Troy W batted him in and DChap knocked in another. Disappointing, as we nearly pipped them last time, but they had all their big guns back from Giants' duties, and it made a big difference. Hits: Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Cezar Perez, Troy Weinert, Daniel Chapman 1.

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field 29.01.22 v Nth Districts

WON 11-0 A quietish start to the game but the guys came to life in the third and posted five when Nathan tripled, Wade doubled, Troy N put one over for two and Troy W followed him up with another. This was followed up by the perfect pitching inning from Joel, where he had the ump firing out three in a row. Next dig, another five with the hits becoming monotonous (not really) as we cruised to an early finish. Hits: Joel Chapman 3, Wade Moore 2, Callum Park, Troy Nicholson (HR), Troy Weinert (HR), Luke Rackebrandt, Tom Dineen, Nathan Nicholson, Ethan Marchioro 1.

DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field 29.01.22 v Nth Districts

WON 16-3 We only had four innings at bat, but managed to put up scores in all of them. Tyson was never troubled on the mound and finished out the game in fine style. Carly knocked up getting RBI's after rattling the home run fence, and the rest of the batters had a field day. Hits: Rhys Owen 4, Kieran Pett 3, Daniel Chapman, Carly Moore, Josh Tols 2, Jesse Toepher, Andrew Chapman, Braendan Taheny, James Chu 1.

DIVISION THREE had a bye.

DIVISION SIX Lost to Nth Districts 1-6 with Aldo McCormack, Casey Moore and Barry Eime each recording one hit.

DIVISION SEVEN continued on their winning way with a convincing win over Norths 13-2. Everybody got into the act with Nick McCormack clocking up three hits, Sully, Behr, China, Cuz and Nate two, and Flash, Dorny and Watto all one.

DIVISION EIGHT went down to East Torrens 6-16 in a game that was remarkable in many aspects. Firstly it was Azza's 200th appearance in the green and gold, and secondly, the game was played in the most friendly of atmospheres. Arron tripled and stole home in the first, and we all thought he was set for a beauty, but he went quiet until he nearly got home again but somersaulted himself down the line only to pull up inches short. Timmy walked, stole, stole and reached home due to generous fielding, a feature of the way the game was played. Hits: Justin Randall 2, Aaron Petros, Brad Atkinson, Greg Oxenham, Shane Lodge 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

Defeated East Torrens 12-3 Nice to see the ladies back in the winner's circle with this top win after our injury and Covid problems of late. This win keeps finals very much on the radar, and the way they played today - look out! Darna was at her best in the middle, and had a real solid defence behind her. Molly started the ball rolling by belting the first of her two hits and scoring Lisa, and SMac kept up the momentum next dig with another hit. Five runs came in the fourth and a further three in the next to put the sealer on it. A solid performance. Hits: Carly Moore, Molly Brown 2, Megan Boers, Sarah McMahon, Darna Veen, Alyssa Lasscock, Lisa Hage, Carol Ryan 1.

JUNIORS - resumed today but no scores through to date. Hopefully someone will be on to this.
