DIVISION ONE

Away v Goodwood 30.10,21

Lost 0-15 Not much to say - outplayed in all departments by the strong line-up of the Indians. They scored in every innings bar one, and we showed a glimmer of hope only once in the third when our bats started to spark up, and Nathan, Simsy and Troy got on base, only to be left there. We had a mere four hits for the day, with Troy Nicholson getting three and the hard working Joel Chapman one. Heaps of games to go, and having played two of the top teams back to back, we can now hopefully settle into the season with a more settled team with all available.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Goodwood 30.10.21

Lost 2-19 Almost ditto the above, except we had five hits in this one, but still let the opposition score in every innings, and rather heavily towards the final stages. Hits: one each to Mitch Fienemann, Rhys Owen, Craig Abbott, Ethan Marchioro and Josh Tols.

DIVISION THREE

Away v Goodwood 30.10.21

Drew 9-9 We got away to a brilliant start and scored six in the first (albeit aided by several walks) and with Joe in good touch, we were looking ok until they started to gradually sneak back into the contest. Doggy relieved Joe, and the Skip came into bat, walked and subsequently scored. Can't keep him out of it. Hits: Jarrod Marsland (1st game for the season) 2, David Lodge, Shane Brown 1.

DIVISION SIX

Didn’t trouble the scorers and let in seventeen.

DIVISION SEVEN

Had a draw at home against Goodwood 10-10.

DIVISION EIGHT

Game of the round this one - had a bit of everything - fast start by us, fightback by the Indians - we get in front again and they pip us on the post. THE highlight happened in the third, with big Greg charging up the line on a dropped third strike, the first baseman fumbling and Greg high tailing it to second only to have the second baseman flummoxing around, so Greg sets off for third and slipping onto his bum trying to get back, then taking off for third for the second time to fall flat on his face. Gold. Hits: Shane Nicholson, Laurie Sinclair, Mike Chemny 2, Derek Milne, Brad Atkinson, Justin Randall 1. Lost 8-9.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

Had a bye. JUNIORS had a patchy day, with the Junior League team losing 3-12, Little League (1) losing 5-13, and the Minor League team also losing. Can't find out about the Peewee's first outing but pleased to see that Little League (2) had a fighting win over the Hawks 12-11 in a highly entertaining game.

DIVISION ONE

Don Klaebe Field 23.10.21 v Kensington Lost 1-11

Very good hitting team the Cardinals, but apart from a couple of runs in the second dig and one in the fifth, we contained them, although not putting any on the board ourselves. Joel was in command, as was their starter, and it was not until he was relieved that the big hitting began. They asserted their prowess and raced away in the final stages of the game to give us a big loss. Not that we made errors, we were pretty good most of the day in defence, but you don't score too many off only four hits. Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Ryan Muggleton and Craig Abbott one each. Got another toughie next week at Goodwood - so it's onwards and upwards.

DIVISION TWO

Don Klaebe Field 23.10.21 v Kensington WON 15-2

In the absence of Tyson from the mound (baby delivery duties) Mitch took over and delivered five top innings, not giving them much of a sniff, whereby our boys were having a field day with Triple Tommy starring knocking up getting hits and RBI's, and Jimmy, Todd, Kieran and Mitch all contributing. Josh Tols, who has been a stranger to the bat, went one from one. Twelve runs came our way in the final dig, which was closed out by Kieran. Top effort. Hits: Kieran Pett 4, Todd Dunstall, Tom Dineen 2, Rhys Owen, Mitch Fienemann, Andrew Chapman, Jimmy Chu, Josh Tols 1.

DIVISION THREE

Don Klaebe Field 23.10.21 v Kensington WON 12-4

Just a steady procession of runs, with three in the second, six in the third and another three in the fourth putting the Kensi boys on the back foot. Joe Chapman knocked 'em dead for five solid innings, with steady hitting from Jesse, Harry Kiss, Josh Mignone, Kosuke Ikeda and David Lodge making life difficult for their guys. Hits: Kosuke, Josh M, Jesse 2, David, Josh B, Harry 1

DIVISION SIX

Had an unusually poor day out at Kensington's ground and went down to the tune of 0-14 with only Flash, Craig Mortimore and Sean Wallace getting hits.

DIVISION SEVEN

Different story here with a big win 12-6, once again out at Kensington, and plenty of players getting into the act. Behr, Nick McCormack, Aldo McCormack and Superbat Watto all had two hits and Flash and Dorney piped in for one each.

DIVISION EIGHT

Travelling easy at 9-2 up at one stage late in the game, they put the frighteners on everybody by slipping to 9-9 and then, frighteningly going behind 9-11. So the task in the last was to score three for the win - and they managed it to come away victors 12-11 over Kensington. Hits: Derek Milne 2, Brad Atkinson, David Ding and Greg Oxenham 1. Aaron Petros went the distance.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

Away v Sturt 24.10.21

Lost 4-6

The girls went to an early lead before putting in an ordinary one in the second dig and letting the Blue's girls get their noses in front. They fought back frantically in what was another high-class game and have a bye next week to lick

their wounds. Darna pitched the majority, relieved by Carly and the hits were: Carly Moore 3, Alyssa Lasscock, Darna Veen, Kensi StGeorge, Megan Boers 2, Sarah McMahon 1.

JUNIORS

The Minor League (U11) was our only win for the day, getting up 7-6 against Southern Districts with Felix and Beau being our main pitchers, and Poppy doing a good job at catching for the first time.

The U15's lost to GGCD as did both of our Little League (U13) teams.

DIVISION ONE Away v Nth Districts 16.10.21

WIN 12-2

First week way down south, second week in the northern suburbs. Still, a win makes it all worth while, and what a comprehensive win it was. Joel started for the second week in a row and in a miserly display gave up no runs and hardly any hits in his six innings. Our bats started a bit slowly, until the third, and then they started to find their range. DChap, Nathan and Wade pushed the ball around, but we still didn't score until the fourth when Weiney (good to see you back) scored Cesar and then in the next dig, Wade got DChap home to score, followed by a three run dinger off the bat of Cesar for the second week in succession. DChap doubled, Rackers (welcome) doubled, Nathan had a RBI and Wade hit a monster two run homer, all while we leaked a couple of runs to the Reds. Good win. Hits: Wade Moore (HR) 4, Daniel Chapman 3, Troy Nicholson, Luke Rackebrandt, Troy Weinert, Nathan Nicholson 2, Cesar Perez (HR), Ryan Muggleton 1.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Nth Districts 16.10.21

WIN 17-2

We got away quickly with three, but let them back into the game with two, and that was all they got because Tyson was really on his game, as evidenced by a masterful pickoff in the third. He went four before Joe Chapman came on and gave nothing away. We hit a purple patch in the fifth with a nine run tally - Breandan, Kieran, AChap hit for a run then Rhys RBI, Tom RBI and it continued in the next for a further five with Tom, Rhys, Carly, Ethan, Todd and Kieran all getting bat on ball successfully. Another good win, and nice to get on the board. Hits: Tom Dineen 4, Todd Dunstall, Breanden Taheny, Rhys Owen 2, Andrew Chapman, Kieran Pett, Mitch Fienemann, Carly Moore, Ethan Marchioro 1.

DIVISION THREE had a bye

DIVISION SIX had a top win against the Reds 8-7 with plenty of players putting in their two bobs worth. Flash, China and Aldo McCormack all chimed in with three hits, Josh Boden and Dave Lodge both got a couple and Behr, Owen and Josh each got one.

DIVISION SEVEN also claimed a particularly good win over Norths 10-2 with Cuz collecting three hits, Watto (superbat) 2, and Behr, Sully, Dorny, Nicko 1.

DIVISION EIGHT

Surely man of the match had to go to Aaron Petros for his pitching efforts and two hits - hope so. Anyway, the boys completely outplayed their Playford City opponents to record a win 18-3. They picked up two in the first, seven in the second, five in the third and another four in the fourth to come home big winners. Hits: Aaron Petros, Shane Nicholson, Brad Atkinson 2, Oliver Nate, David Ding, Greg Oxenham, Shane Lodge, Mike Chemny, Tim Russell (RBI), Derek Milne, Lawrie Sinclair 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

HOME @ Don Klaebe Field 17.10.21 v Glenelg

WON 7-3

Playing against last year's premiers, the girls took the field super confident, and it showed in a fine performance by getting in front early and going away at the end, The game was of a really high standard and there was some great baseball played. Darna did the bulk of the heavy lifting from the mound, with Carly coming in late to mop up. Sarah was a rock behind the plate and the defence was tight. The batters did their bit as well, with Leah Turner, Carly Moore, Alyssa Lasscock, Darna Veen and Kenzi StGeorge getting two each and Sarah McMahon one. So that's two from two, with another toughie next week against Sturt.

Junior League (U15)

Lost to a powerful Glenelg team 4-12

Little League (U13)

Div One

Had a narrow loss 8-10 after coming home like a train and missing out because of time.

Little League (U13)

Div Two

Found the going out at Goodwood a bit tough and went down 7-20. Get 'em next time.

Minor League (U11)

Kept our flag flying with an energetic win 3-0

Under the new format this season, the days already have proved to be long and taxing. Congratulations to all the volunteers, especially those who manned the canteen - in shifts - for a marathon eleven hours on Sunday. Fantastic !!
