DIVISION ONE     Twilight 13.12.22     v     Port Adelaide at Don Klaebe Field     WON 10-3

We were in charge from the outset, scoring two in our first at bat when Troy N doubled and came home on a passed ball to kick us off.  The fireworks were yet to come, and Drew put one over for a two run homer, and two batters later Rackers lobbed one onto the exact same spot for another run, followed by a Joel double.  We got a further five in the next, when Drew hit his second bomb with Troy N on base, Rackers hit a double and Armando got to second and scored two.  All the while, Drew was on the mound helping himself to eleven strike-outs, and when he got the stitch, Cezar came on and did the rest.  A very fine win on the back of our disappointing performance the previous Saturday.  Hits  :  Drew Janssen (2HR) 3, Troy Nicholson, Luke Rackebrandt (HR) 2, Wade Moore, Joel Chapman, Troy Weinert 1.

DIVISION ONE

Away 17.12.22     v     Sturt     Lost 1-13

Wow - their hitting was exceptional in their first at bat and they helped themselves to six runs, from which we never recovered sufficiently to make a game of it.  Their batting was crisp and clean and found the gaps every time, but our guys were not too shabby in defence and  went through the entire game only making two errors (the same as them), a credit to the guys under extreme pressure.  Some of our double plays in the latter innings were exceptional run savers, especially featuring Troy Nicholson and Todd Dunstall, and we live to fight another day when hostilities resume after Christmas.  DChap's rbi was our only saving grace - stopped us having to drop our daks.  Hits  :  A bit lean here - Wade Moore 2, Cesar Perez, Daniel Chapman 1.

DIVISION TWO

Away 17.12.22     v     Sturt     Lost 2-3

First dig - hits to Finners, DChap, a walk, loaded bases - and left them there.  That was the first of four loaded base situations for the afternoon, one in the first, again in the fifth, and then two in the last when we at least managed to get two home to get within one run of tying the game but filled them up again with no result. Fair dinkum!  It's enough to make you weep.  Hits  :  Mitch Fienemann, Ryan Muggleton, Daniel Chapman, Tom Dineen 1.

DIVISION THREE

Away 17.12.22     v Sturt     Lost 1-5

We lost this by all game getting people on base and not getting them to the most important part - home plate.  Happened all day  -  see above.  The only saving grace was a Carly double and a Jimmy Chu rbi.  Do you realise that in the three games against Sturt today, in the three grades, we managed only four runs.  Unbelievable.  The sun was out, the day was fine for both teams but one team thrived, and the another team dived.  A bit harsh - I think not.  Hits  :  Carly Moore (a double), Jimmy Chu, David Lodge, Aldo McCormack, Shane Brown 1.

DIVISION SIX

At Home v Nth Districts

Lost 11-14

Getting ever so close to that elusive first win,  After being behind 0-11, the comeback was amazing - going down 11-14 in a nailbiter.   Great going guys.  Hits  :  And this is an impressive list - Owen Williams 3, Tim Fawcett, Andrew Eime, Justin Randall, Phil Zschorn. Craig Mortimore 2, Barry Eime, Andrew Sullivan 1.

DIVISION Seven

At Home v Nth Districts     WON 10-9

Shrinking violet Marso doesn't want anyone to know that he was responsible for the walk off today.  But he is taking all the credit, and put it up on the Channel Seven News tonight.  Seriously, a great game that obviously went down to the final stages. Thank goodness the good guys won to keep them at the top of the table  Once again Casey was in control from the middle with five innings and the hitters were Nicko 3, Rev, Fitzy 2, Casey, Marso 1.  Crickey knows what's happening with the Magellan and the Ivan - can anyone tell me?

DIVISION EIGHT

A good win  13-6 against the Angels at their ground to keep finals aspirations alive.  Unfortunately the ever reliable Judy was not on hand to provide the details of the win - she was probably shopping for my Christmas present.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE     v     Glenelg away 18.12.22     WON 16-3

A comprehensive rout of last year's premiers for the third time this season.  The scores so far reflect our dominance  42-8, in the three games.  Darna was untouchable on the mound and was backed up by a mainly errorless defence.  There were some obvious special highlights in the game namely Carly's great popup catch, Carly and Darna hitting consecutive doubles and swapping places, Alyssa's two hit rbi and Amara's rbi.  No need for a relief pitcher in this game, as the two five run maximum innings shortened proceedings. Not a passenger in the lineup.  Hits  :  Darna BoersVeen, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock, Carly Moore, Amara Quinn 1.

DIVISION TWO     v Port

Lost by the smallest margin 11-12 in a contentious result.  Watch this space.  Alice had five strikeouts in a great display, and the hits were  :  Alice 2, Dakota, Christie, Di and Mel.

JUNIORS

 U15

Kept their winning streak alive and remain at the top of the ladder with a hard fought win against Goodwood 6-3. This was a real eye opener for this team who have done an incredible job for the first half of the season. Thanks to Chace who came up from U13 and hit a ripper to get 2RBI and the winning run! Hits: Noah, Alice, Haysey, Chace and Dakota all with 1 each  Pitching: Diesel 3 innings/5 strikeouts and Haysey 3 innings/9 strikeouts.

U14

They played a hard fought game against Goodwood but went down 17-6. Good pitching from Remy Brooks and the highlight of the day was Bodhi’s big hit again to the outfield.

U13-1

A really good win - actually untroubled against Sturt 10-0 with Archie hurling two strikeouts and Felix really knocking them dead at the end with nine (yes - nine) strikeouts.  Hits: Chace 3, Remy, Benji, Jacob, Luke, Felix 1.

U13-2 made the trip down south for the last game of the year. Unfortunately went down 14 -1. Ruby started well on the mound. Great base running by Ely, manufacturing their only run. Well down to Mochi for making his pitching debut.

U11  10-6 win at Gawler. Kylah was great on the mound, and Myles closed it down.  Myles and Kylah both had two hits and Olive held her own at first.

U10 were up bright and early ready to play H&G -  their aim before the game was to get at least 1 run - and they did it! Unfortunately, they went down 8-1 but they did their best! Thank you to Dad's Marco and Rueben who helped Shane out on the bench.

T-Ball had their last session on Friday night with Shane - they had lots of fun as usual - the best part was the Christmas stocking at the end.

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field 10.12.22     v     H & G

Lost 2-11

Top of the table clash, and it was not one of our finest games.  The boys appeared flat from the outset, and although Tyson McK was holding them early, the runs came in the fourth and again towards the final innings.  Our bats just simply didn't handle their pitcher, and it was left to Cesar to clear the fence in the last dig for the scoreboard to finally tick over.  Just put it down to "one of those games", as we have proven so far this season that we are a far better team than we showed on this occasion.  Hits  :  Cesar Perez (HR) 3, Drew Janssen, Joel Chapman, Wade Moore 1.

DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field 10.12.22     v     H & G     WON 3-1

The Rams scored one in the first, and after an almost bench-clearing incident in the second, Rhys and Tom both had rbi's to put three on the board, which proved to be the final score.  Joe Chapman did a sterling job in 6 2/3 innings, and Joe Papps cleaned up.  This was an efficient win, with the defence holding up superbly to limit them to zero in the last six innings.  Hits  :  Ryan Muggleton 2, Rhys Owen 1, Tom Dineen, Breandon Taheny, Tyson Jarvis 1.

DIVISION THREE

At Don Klaebe Field 10.12.22     v     H & G     WON 17-9

A genuine rolled gold one horse race this contest, with Tyson Hancock in control for the first four.  In the second, we exploded with nine runs after Dave L doubled and Jimmy got him home with a two rbi hit, Harry doubled, there were a few walks, and Jimmy popped his head up again with another rbi.  Followed up with three in the next and then four, following Harry's triple, NN's rbi and then double and Carly finished off the hit parade with a double.  They fought back a touch in the last to put up a few consolation runs.  Hits  :  Harrison Kiss, Nathan Nicholson, David Lodge, Carly Moore, Jimmy Chu 2, Rhys Owen, Shane Brown 1.

A note at this stage :  Carly Moore caught the Div Three game and had to put the gear on again for the Two's from the second dig, a great effort.

DIVISION SIX

Its getting closer - a win that is.  The guys were desperately close to their first win for the season, only to be pipped 9-10 at the death against West Torrens in a walk-off.  Justin Randall pitched his heart out in relief, and the impressive list of hitters is Brad Atkinson 3, Aldo McCormack, Tim Fawcett, Lawrie Sinclair, Eddie Ansell, Owen Williams, Justin Randall 2, Nick McCormack 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Defeated West Torrens 9-2.  Sully (five digs) and Casey mopping up proved too good for the Eagles' bats.  The Magellan and Ivan awards are at an interesting stage, with Dorny putting up his hand as a contender with a diving basket catch, and Nicko firming in favouritism as usual.  Still on top these boys, and planning to stay that way.  Hits  : Casey 4, Sul 3, Hulk 2, Dorny, Flash, JJ, and of course - the super-sub - one Di Barry 1.

DIVISION EIGHT

At Don Klaebe Field 10.12.22  v GGCD

Lost 0-9

Ding got them in the first one-two-three and we thought - here we go!  But after that they scored regularly, and, well, we didn't.  This grade is really worth watching - always something happening - some good, some great, some ordinary - but always good fun.  Hits  :  One each to Aaron Petros, David Ding and Kim Hoony.

WOMAN'S DIVISION ONE

Away v Sturt 11.12.22

WON 15-4

First dig went a bit like this - Carly doubled, Darna singled, Ash singled, Smack singled, Amara  singled, Taylor hpb, Meg singled and we were off and running and never looked back.  That amounted to four and three in the next off another Smack double and an Amara two rbi double.  This went on all game, but a real sweetener was Carly's in the park home run after her full day yesterday, and then Meggsie and Ash both smacked doubles and were brought home.  All the while Darna was weaving her magic in five great innings and Amara knocked them over in the last.  Hits  :  Carly Moore (HR), Sarah McMahon 3, Ash George, Amara Quinn, Taylor McKay, Megan BoersVeen 2, Darna BoersVeen 1.

WOMAN'S DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field 9.12.22

WON 15-8

Christie kicked off and kept them in check early, but the complexion of the game changed when Alice came on and blew them away with precision pitching, notching up six strikeouts, and was ably backed up by Indie.  A strong feature of the game, as well as the strong comradeship, was the batting depth and the hits were as follows  :  Mel, Alice, Kym 2, Dakota, Indie, Christie, Toni F, Kerryn, Jamie 1.

JUNIORS

U15

Appeared well on their way to another victory when I had to leave - the score at that time being 20-1.  Final score was 23-2. Definitely keeping that top spot on the ladder. Hits Ollie Hayes 4 (including a HR), Alice 3, Fallon 2, Ding 2, Nanasi 2, Atkinson 1, Wallis 1, Stock 1

U14

Lost 17-7 to Port.  Will Stock had three hits, Bodhi Forward had two including a double that reached the main home run fence, and Riki Lee Oxenham had one.

U13 (1)

Accounted for East Torrens 11-6 in a come from behind win.  Chase had two hits, and Archie, Benji and Jacob contributed one each.  Anton was the first pitcher with two strike-outs, then Chase had one and Archie knocked them over with three to end the game.

U13 (2)

Lost 10-15 to GGCD in our best game for the season.  Right in it till the end.  Lily got her first hit for the season, and Roni pitched great at the end.  A feature was Max's 9-3 put-out to Jack. A great take.

U11

Couldn't quite match it with East Torrens on the back diamond. Going down 10-4

U10

Another hard game against Adelaide - Hugo, Francis, James and Chris all had a pitch and did a good job. We just need to be confident with our batting and base running. I think most players will enjoy the break over christmas.

T-Ball was fun - we welcomed Sake to the team and Samuel Chu back from Taiwan. Lots of fun - especially covering coach Shane in tinsel for christmas

DIVISION ONE

Twilight away v Nth District 29.11.22

WON 10-0

Missed this one - getting my ears deafened by Guns'n'roses, but Weiny told me he put one over, and Joel pitched the five innings required for the win.

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field v West Torrens 3.12.22     WON 9-7

A very feisty affair this one, starting straight from the get-go when one of their guys was ejected in the first dig for umpire abuse, and a melee was averted later in the game by wise heads.  They jumped us getting three, but we didn't take long to reply, with a Troy N two bagger, a Drew single and a Cesar homer.  3-3 after one.  A grand slam in the fourth set us back on our heels a bit, but we did what we do best - knuckle down and chip away at their lead and it wasn't long before Drew scored Ethan and a Weiny sac fly put us in front.  We really put the brakes on them, with Drew keeping them to zero in the last five digs.  Joel took a marvellous morale boosting catch at rightfield, almost finishing off in the kid's playground.  A great catch and a great win.  Hits  :  Drew Janssen 4, Ethan Marchioro, Troy Nicholson, Callum Park, Wade Moore, Joel Chapman 2, Cesar Perez (HR), Luke Rackebrandt 1.

DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field v West Torrens 3.12.22     Draw 6-6

Tight game all day, with Joe controlling them from the mound until they got four in the fourth, but we hung in there scoring runs regularly and went into the last all square.  We certainly had our chance to clinch the game with Todd, Pappsy and Armando all hitting - but unfortunately - no runs.  A draw.  Hits  :  Mitch Fienemann, Nick Kuhn, Todd Dunstall, Joe Papps 2, Daniel Chapman, Armando Ramirez 1.

DIVISION THREE

At Don Klaebe Field v West Torrens 3.12.22     Lost 3-9

We both scored a couple each in the second, and should have scored a few more with Kossi scorching around the bases, but we got behind when they skipped away in the fifth with five runs - a task too hard to reel in.  Hits  :  Kosuke Ikeda 2, Jose Ramirez, David Lodge, Josh Boden, Toby Kortekaas (who did a great job behind the dish) 1.

DIVISION SIX

Went down 4-11 to East Torrens.  Surely a win is just around the corner.  Hits  :  Casey Moore, Owen Williams, Andrew Eime 2, Tim Fawcett, Aldo McCormack, Phil Zschorn, Phil Perkinson 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Continued on their winning way and with Casey going five allowing Sully to mop up, where could they go wrong?  Defeated East Torrens 8-2, and as an extra bonus, found a new outfielder.  They did all their good work late in the game with the bats, with Nat (a triple) and Fitzy both hitting  twice, and Watto, Cuz, Sully, Dorny and Casey contributing one each.

DIVISION EIGHT

Lost to Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 10-12 in a game that was lost in the early going.  They nearly made up the difference in a great fightback, an just failed to make it.  One Sturt guy hit a rare (in this grade) home run, which we didn't need, but our boys, to their credit, just kept plugging away.  Hits  :  Derek Milne, Greg Oxenham, Aaron Petros 2, Matt Davey, Shane Nicholson, Shane Lodge 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

Defeated Adelaide away 12-1 in what was virtually a one horse race.  Darna threw four, and Amara cleaned up in the last.  We played quality baseball, as evidenced by a clinical double play in the second when Amara threw to Smack who pinpointed Taylor for the inning ending two outs.    Amara again picked up rbi's in the third, and then Louise, Smack and Taylor all hit for a couple more, but this was topped off with a four run fifth dig.  Hits  :  Amara Quinn 3, Taylor McKay 2, Carly Moore, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock, Leah Turner, Megan Boers-Veen 1.

DIVISION TWO

Lost to GGCD 3-11 away after leading early in the game. Errors in the field didn't help our pitchers.  Plenty of potential here - it will emerge. Hits - Indie Dbl, Alice 1, Toni A 1. Alice 6 strikeouts in 3 innings for 1 run.

JUNIORS

U(15) Junior League

Defeated Adelaide 6-5.

After some runaway wins in previous matches, the boys and girls didn't have it all their own way for a change and had to fight out a meritorious  win to stay unbeaten at the top of the table. Hits - Diesel 3 Dbls (2 were nearly HRs just missing by the tiniest of margins), Haysey 2, Ollie V 1 and Remy 1.

U14 Intermediate League just lost to Southern Districts 8-7 in a tight tussle all day. Fantastic pitching from Chace (5 Strikeouts over 3 innings) and Felix (3 strikeouts for 2 innings)  who were filling in this week for the U14s. Only 1 hit to Riley S. ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT of the day was Chace's catch off his own pitching - nearly at the opposition dugout - absolutely outstanding!

U13(1) at home v Kensington WON 15-8.

Took until the last few innings, but when we powered away, there was no stopping us.  Remy, Benji and Max all had single hits and Felix managed an in the park home run, Luke took a great catch and turned it into a double play to end the game, and Remy struck out four.

U13(2) away to the Dodgers and came home losing 3-15.  Max hit a cracking triple, and Eli made his pitching debut.U11 Minor League  Went to Northern Districts and won 5-0.  Kylah (five Strikeouts), Bodhi and Myles all pitched well, Bodhi had three hits, Kylah two and Myles had one.  Myles also took a fine catch to end the game.

U10 Mini League v Goodwood at home - going down 4-0. These kids come out with enthusiasm every week playing against kids way bigger than them. They'll get a win - it's coming!

T-Ball joined in the fun on Sunday - changing their program from Friday to Sunday for a change - it was great seeing the little kids in their special yellow T-Ball tops amongst the bigger Juniors. They have fun every week - the highlight was the ice cream at the end!
