DIVISION ONE Away v Sth Districts
WON 9-6
This was an admirable win by our team which was depleted by the absence of five first picked players, due to various circumstances. It was a top game, being that the lead changed hands on numerous occasions, and it was tied for five innings before the deadlock was broken in the eleventh. We loaded the bases in the first, but no run, got three in the second with plenty more on bases, but a three run homer in the fourth by the Hawks put their noses in front. Troy celebrated the arrival of one of our old pitchers on the mound with a two run double and Nathan scored another RBI to square the game. We were hitting well (sixteen for the day), and we got out of jail at one stage with a superb double play, orchestrated by last year's coach of the year, Richard Olson. So we go to the eleventh, and Troy punished them with a double, Abbey bunted safely to push him around, and Todd nudged one just wide of shortstop to bring two home, followed by Braydon's hit for one more. Troy then took the ball from Will - who had done a magnificent job for five innings - and cut them out. Every guy on the team played their part in a gutsy effort. Hits: Troy Nicholson, Nathan Nicholson 3, Ethan Marchioro, Callum Park, Mitch Fienemann, Todd Dunstall, Brayden Marchioro, Craig Abbott, Tom Dineen 1.
DIVISION TWO Away v Sth Districts
Lost 0-8 Once again, shortages in the Div One team had an effect on the two's. Congrats to Barry Eime who made his senior debut, and well done to the rest of the boys who knuckled down and played hard to the end, and to Carly, a power behind the plate. We suffered from a lack of contact on the ball, managing only four hits, but the defence stood up well, only giving up multiple runs on two occasions. Rhys started and did five until Richard Olson came in and showed us that he still has it. Hits: Richard Olson, Rhys Owen, Jarrod Marsland, Ethan Marchioro.
DIV FIVE
Played Sturt at their ground and made hard work of it, losing 1-15.
DIV SIX
Defeated Sth Districts 11-2 in what was a comprehensive display. Sully owned the mound and gave them nothing, and the offence was terrific - as good a game as you would want. Hits: Marso 3, Flash, Sully 2, and one each to Cuz, Troy K, Cam, Teaks and Dorney.
DIV SEVEN
Funny old game baseball. Two weeks in a row we were well in front going into the last with two different results. Week one we held on for the win, and this week they ran over the top of us and we lost 11-12. Some standouts from the game were Aaron Petros with his hitting, stealing and outfield catches, Casey Moore who was great on the hill and Derek Milne's hitting. We were going for three wins in a row, which would have led to bragging rights. Hits: Milne 3, Petros, Sinclair 2, Lavita, Moore, Lodge 1.
WOMEN'S LEAGUE
Put a feather in your cap girls. A 10-8 win over Sturt is a top result, as they have proved to be the team to beat for the last couple of years. Darna and Carly shared the pitching duties and the hits were: Sarah 3, Darna, Carly 2, Leah and Megs 1.
JUNIORS
PEE WEE
A full squad of ten littlies came and enjoyed their first game of the year, and most of them got some hits and recorded several outs. It was a great atmosphere, and coaches say they are seeing vast improvement in the kids and expect more in the future.
MINOR LEAGUE Tim's Minor league team lost 6-3 to Henley, with Archie, Chase and Remy pitching well, and Archie, Chase, Remy, Hugo and Felix hitting.
LITTLE LEAGUE
Woodville - Brad's LL team lost 20-11 and Noah, Jacob and Indie all pitched well, Bodhi took a blinder at centrefield and then caught after Will.
Senators - Shane's Senators lost to Golden Grove 8-14 and good hitting was seen from Vince, Luka and Ollie. Alice pitching to Vince is proving to be a good battery.
JUNIOR LEAGUE
The U15's won in fine fashion 17-6. Beau had a pitch and Lachy got his first hit. Toby hit three, and Zach also batted well. These guys are well coached and are learning plenty.
