DIVISION ONE Away v Sth District Twilight 3.03.21
WON 6-3
The game started at breakneck pace, with the first three innings going in a blink of an eye with no score from either team. Troy was really keeping them quiet and came out after four with six strikeouts to his name. The Hawks scored a pair of runs in the fourth, but we equaled that tally when we stole successfully and Wade got Nat home. Tolsy relieved Troy, and in the last 2.1 innings, struck out six batters with no hits and caught the other in a masterful display of power pitching and control. We completed the win with four runs in the last when Muggsy belted a stand up double, Tolsy put down a perfect bunt to advance him and reach first, Abbey and Wade both had hits and we comfortably ran out winners. Hits : Wade Moore, Ryan Muggleton 2, Todd Dunstall, Ethan Marchioro, Josh Tols, Craig Abbott 1.
DIVISION ONE At Don Klaebe Field 7.07.21 v Sth District
WON 3-2 This was a particularly tight encounter, which went right down to the wire, and was won in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off. Joel pitched and was well in control until they put him over the fence twice to score their only runs for the game, and we got one back when Troy slapped a long ball to score Cezar. The game really picked up in intensity and we were still one down coming to the last with Tolsy taking the reins and shutting them down. Up to the plate marched Todd who promptly hit a huge bomb to tie the score, and with all the guys doing their bit, and a hit up the middle by Muggsy, Troy enjoyed the feeling of crossing the plate for the win. Hits : Troy Nicholson 3, Daniel Chapman 2, Todd Dunstall (HR), Cesar Perez, Ryan Muggleton, Craig Abbott, Nathan Nicholson, Josh Tols 1.
So, the season is done and dusted for the Div One team, finishing just one spot out of the finals. A few missed opportunities earlier in the season, and who knows ? Still - very enjoyable.
DIVISION TWO At Don Klaebe Field 7.07.21 v Sth District
WON 4-2 Mitch started and did four solid innings before Tyson came to the mound. We started well with two on the board in the first due to some walks and some hits, but the game slowed and there was no scoring until the fifth when both sides got one each. Hits were at a premium, and we managed the win with only three - namely one each to Brayden Marchioro, Jarrod Marsland and Harry Kiss,
DIV SIX
Played their Semi final up at Kensington and didn't have their best outing, going down 0-12. It was just one of those days, when every hit went straight to a fielder and every catch was taken, and they always seemed to find the gaps. Oh well, all round a pretty good season.
WOMAN'S LEAGUE
Played their Semi under the lights at West Beach, and agonizingly lost 4-5. Carly played well, pitching and having three hits, and the others to hit were Leah Turner, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock and Catie and Sammy Berry. Get 'em next year girls.
JUNIORS
The U15 (Junior League)
Lost 4-14 to Henley & Grange in their first semi. Toby snaffled three pop-ups , but the Rams' bats were too heavy and even the speedy Zach couldn't make an impression.
U13 (Little League)
Went up to Northern Districts who were the top team in the comp, and although fighting hard and putting up a great fight, went down 7-19. We started well, putting on three, but these were answered in spades, and although Alice and Ollie pitched really well, we could not stem the flow. Run scorers were Alice, Ollie, Dash, Dakota, Jack and Luka.
U11 (Minor League)
Played a blinder which went into extra innings. The kids were calm and collected and did what they had to do, and all the anxiety was seen on the faces of the mums and dads who were pacing up and down. Anyway, they got the job done by beating Adelaide 12-11, and will now progress to the Preliminary Final next week. All the best kids.
