DIVISION ONE Twilight at Don Klaebe Field v Sturt 2.02.21 Lost 5-13
They had first use of the batting box and we started nervously, giving up four in a very shaky effort. They piled on another six in the third and it was not looking good. Jacko was relishing his return however, taking some fine catches in the outfield and Abbey got us on the board with a double. In the fifth the Saints kept scoring and the mercy rule was looming, but the Coach took to the mound to put the brakes on, and our fighting spirit kicked in and Jacko tripled to score a couple, and we got four for the inning, with the defence picking up as well, with a great double play. We made the game go the distance, and the hitters were Craig Abbott, Joel Chapman, Todd Dunstall 2, Cezar Perez, Troy Nicholson, Jackson Sowton 1.
Away v H & G 7.02.21 Lost 0-10 This game was notable for the fact that an ex-Senator hurler killed us with a fine display on the hill. We did not record a single hit against him, nor a runner on base for the entire game, and this makes winning impossible. We put in some good efforts defensively at times, but couldn't find that fight that was needed. Callum Park had a couple of great plays at third, but lacked a bit of help.
DIVISION TWO
Away v H & G 7.02.21
Lost 4-17 The encounter was tight for a while, with us giving them three in the second by virtue of a couple of very ordinary errors. Poor old Jimmy Chu copped a nasty one from Ethan in an outfield accident and had to retire, but Tom's double got us started, and with Nathan pinning them down, we had high hopes. Henley started to get our range, and although we kept with them for a while, their hitters got us in the end. Hits : Mitch Fienemann, Andrew Chapman, Tom Dineen, Brayden Marchioro 1.
DIV FIVE took the long drive down south, and whilst not coming home with the choccies, performed much better than earlier in the season. Matt Kaponits had a couple of hits, as did Jeff Hunter, and Josh Boden, Sean Flintoff, Josh Mignone and Owen Williams had one each. The score was 5-14.
DIV SIX and DIV SEVEN both had their games cancelled due to the weather and the condition of the Sturt ground. It certainly poured down and made play impossible.
WOMAN'S LEAGUE - the SABL cancelled the entire Woman's round due to the weather on Friday night. A long awaited home game is scheduled for Don Klaebe Field at 6.00pm this Friday evening.
JUNIOR LEAGUE (U15)
Played two games for the week, with the Wednesday evening contest at Golden Grove ending in a fine win 9-5, with Will showing the way from the middle, but Sunday's game against Port was a different story, with a loss.
LITTLE LEAGUE
Woodville
Great win over Kensington at home 20-11 with Noah and Indie the pitching stars throwing to Will who is proving to be a brick wall at the plate.. All the bats came good with Matthew and Jacob being the stars. Attitude was fantastic.
Senators
The Senators had five hits for the day and were unlucky to go down 6-7. Luka C and Oliver V hit well and we had our share of stolen bases. Vincent and Ollie threw six solid innings.
MINORS (U11) 6-4 win away at Golden Grove. Archie, Chase and Remy showed that they are made of stern stuff by pitching under pressure at the finish. Anton and Kylah were the batting heros. Peewee - played at home, enjoyed themselves and had a good time.
