DIVISION ONE Away v Kensington 4.12.20
Lost 2-13
Against an extremely strong Cardinal's lineup, in cold and blustery conditions, we were not able to put together enough offence against their in-form pitcher, Greg Mosel (Incedentally - an ex Senator). Joel did his utmost to quell their big hitters, but it was left to Will Kortekaas to put the brakes on and quieten them down a touch. Craig Abbott showed his class with a home run in the last, but there was not a lot to like overall. The boys however, to their credit, never threw the towel in and fought to the finish. Hits: Brendan Marchioro 2, Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Nathan Nicholson, Craig Abbott (HR), Harrison Kiss 1.
DIVISION TWO Away v Kensington 4.12.20
WON 7-2 Very good win, with Tyson Hancock starring on the mound going nearly all the way, and Daniel Chapman having a field day with the bat. The first dig set the scene with Todd leading the way by getting on followed by China (yes, China!) and Daniel for our first run, and in the fourth, Carly scored an RBI and got home on Todd's hit. Daniel again and Jimmy Chu put paid to Kensi's chances and we rounded out the game in the last two innings getting four. Please tell me the last time you know of when a father and daughter played together in Div two. Hits: Daniel Chapman 3, and one each to Todd Dunstall, Ethan Marchioro, Lawrie Moore, Rhys Owen, Carly Moore, Jarod Marsland, Harrison Kiss. Rhys knocked up getting involved in double plays.
DIV FIVE
Played away against the Bays and didn't meet with a lot of success, losing by a fair margin.
DIV SIX
This was a pretty good contest, pitting second against fifth, and as a result it was a tight affair early with only a coulple of runs separating the teams all day. We went down to the Redsox 2-5 at the finish after giving them a hell of a fright in the last and loading the bases to give us a big chance, Hits: Garry Marsland (who pitched well) 2, Nick McCormack, Andrew Sullivan (who also pitched well) 1.
DIV SEVEN
WON 9-8 v East Torrens. This also was an even game. We started well with a two run first, but got behind until a nice Nick McCormack double clawed us back and it was anybody's game. Going into the last at 4-8 down, we produced a terrific five run dig to walk off winners. Hits: Derek Milne , Casey Moore, Nick McCormack 2, Aaron Petros, Shane Lodge, James Stradling, Tim Fawcett 1. Casey went the distance.
WOMAN'S LEAGUE
Injuries and other appointments meant we weren't able to put our best foot forward in the late game at West Beach against the solid opposition of Sturt. The scoreline of 2-17 would have to be a disappointment, but, knowing the girls, they will bounce back tougher than ever. Sarah McMahon and Darna Veen had the only two hits.
JUNIOR LEAGUE (U15)
Lost to the Rams 2-9. Plenty of runners on base but had trouble crossing the plate. Vince filled in and made four plays.
LL SENATORS (U13)
Jasmine made her first hit for the season, but the team lost to a very strong team.
LL WOODVILLE (U13)
Drawn game 17-17. Terrific effort by all the guys and gals, with special mention to Indie and Will (great battery). Mathew and Tucker controlled the infield, and the bats were led by Jacob with a two run double and a three run homer. Chase jumped up from u11 and recorded a two run triple. Great game all.
MINORS (U11)
Lost 9-6 to Henley. Were in the lead late but started to run out of pitchers. The bats had a busy day with Chase hitting three times, Archie twice, and Felix, Luke, Kylah, Hugo, Anton, Jason and Aiden all once.
PEEWEE
Survived the early start in the cold, and all hit really well with Lily, Jacob and Olive making outs.
