DIVISION ONE

Twilight at Don Klaebe Field v E.Torrens 8.12.20

Lost 0-6

Joel Chapman put in a fine performance for 6.1 innings, leaving the mound at 0-2. That sounds about right for the final result, as our bats were not contributing as they should, but the Redsox boys sneaked in a couple of runs at the end. Disappointing result. Hits: One each to Wade Moore, Daniel Chapman and Craig Abbott.

Home at Don Klaebe Field v Nth. Districts 12.12.20

WON 7-3

We kicked off nicely with three in the first and couple more in the second to secure a handy lead, and with Will keeping them scoreless for five innings, and the batters doing their bit, a win was imminent. The Nicholson brothers closed and that was all she wrote. Hits: Troy Nicholson 3, Mitch Fienemann, Andrew Chapman 2, Ryan Muggleton, Nathan Nicholson, Craig Abbott, Brayden Marchioro 1.

DIVISION TWO

Home at Don Klaebe Field v Nth. Districts

WON 6-5

We scored in the first to establish an early lead, and with Tyson hurling six almost flawless and scoreless innings, we were looking the goods. We jumped on a pitching change to notch four in the sixth, but the Red's equalled in their last to make our last at bat crucial. Abbey hit, Todd walked and Joel hit to achieve the walk-off. Hits: One each to Todd Dunstall, Joel Chapman, James Chu, Carly Moore and Craig Abbott. Harrison Kiss seemed targeted at second, and came through with flying colours.

DIV FIVE

I'm dying to say "had a win", but alas they went down 1-14.

DIV SIX

Won up at Golden Grove 12-7 in a game that was highlighted by a Marso bomb (short boundary) and the tight pitching of King Kortekaas, and all round smart hitting. Hits: Cuz, Behr, Sully, Flash, Stinky, Dorney 2, Marso (HR), King K, Cam 1.

DIV SEVEN

Also had a win at the expense of Golden Grove 13-2 on the back of Casey Moore's all the way effort on the mound. The boys all hit well and the defence was superb I'm told.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Recorded a loss against the Saints, who they beat earlier in the season, 7-12. Sarah McMahon hit twice as did Darna Veen, and Catie Berry, Kenzie McGeorge, Megan Boers and Leah Turner once each.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

Played two games for the week, a loss to Kensington on Wednesday evening and a journey down to Southern Districts on Sunday.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Both teams (Woodville and Senators) played two games for the week with the Woodville team recording a win and a loss, whilst the Senators outfit came away from the week with two wins under their belts.

MINORS

Had a terrific win over Glenelg 7-0. More hard work coming up these last weeks before Christmas with games galore for most grades.

DIVISION ONE Away v Kensington 4.12.20

Lost 2-13

Against an extremely strong Cardinal's lineup, in cold and blustery conditions, we were not able to put together enough offence against their in-form pitcher, Greg Mosel (Incedentally - an ex Senator). Joel did his utmost to quell their big hitters, but it was left to Will Kortekaas to put the brakes on and quieten them down a touch.  Craig Abbott showed his class with a home run in the last, but there was not a lot to like overall. The boys however, to their credit, never threw the towel in and fought to the finish.  Hits: Brendan Marchioro 2, Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Nathan Nicholson, Craig Abbott (HR), Harrison Kiss 1.

DIVISION TWO Away v Kensington 4.12.20

WON 7-2 Very good win, with Tyson Hancock starring on the mound going nearly all the way, and Daniel Chapman having a field day with the bat.  The first dig set the scene with Todd leading the way by getting on followed by China (yes, China!) and Daniel for our first run, and in the fourth, Carly scored an RBI and got home on Todd's hit.  Daniel again and Jimmy Chu put paid to Kensi's chances and we rounded out the game in the last two innings getting four.  Please tell me the last time you know of when a father and daughter played together in Div two.  Hits: Daniel Chapman 3, and one each to Todd Dunstall, Ethan Marchioro, Lawrie Moore, Rhys Owen, Carly Moore, Jarod Marsland, Harrison Kiss. Rhys knocked up getting involved in double plays.

DIV FIVE

Played away against the Bays and didn't meet with a lot of success, losing by a fair margin.

DIV SIX

This was a pretty good contest, pitting second against fifth, and as a result it was a tight affair early with only a coulple of runs separating the teams all day. We went down to the Redsox 2-5 at the finish after giving them a hell of a fright in the last and loading the bases to give us a big chance,  Hits: Garry Marsland (who pitched well) 2, Nick McCormack, Andrew Sullivan (who also pitched well) 1.

DIV SEVEN

WON 9-8 v East Torrens.  This also was an even game. We started well with a two run first, but got behind until a nice Nick McCormack double clawed us back and it was anybody's game.  Going into the last at 4-8 down, we produced a terrific five run dig to walk off winners.  Hits: Derek Milne , Casey Moore, Nick McCormack 2, Aaron Petros, Shane Lodge, James Stradling, Tim Fawcett 1. Casey went the distance.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

Injuries and other appointments meant we weren't able to put our best foot forward in the late game at West Beach against the solid opposition of Sturt.  The scoreline of 2-17 would have to be a disappointment, but, knowing the girls, they will bounce back tougher than ever.  Sarah McMahon and Darna Veen had the only two hits.

JUNIOR LEAGUE (U15)

Lost to the Rams 2-9. Plenty of runners on base but had trouble crossing the plate.  Vince filled in and made four plays.

LL SENATORS (U13)

Jasmine made her first hit for the season, but the team lost to a very strong team.

LL WOODVILLE (U13)

Drawn game 17-17. Terrific effort by all the guys and gals, with special mention to Indie and Will (great battery). Mathew and Tucker controlled the infield, and the bats were led by Jacob with a two run double and a three run homer.  Chase jumped up from u11 and recorded a two run triple.  Great game all.

MINORS (U11)

Lost 9-6 to Henley. Were in the lead late but started to run out of pitchers.  The bats had a busy day with Chase hitting three times, Archie twice, and Felix, Luke, Kylah, Hugo, Anton, Jason and Aiden all once.

PEEWEE

Survived the early start in the cold, and all hit really well with Lily, Jacob and Olive making outs.

JUNIORS

All junior matches were cancelled on Sunday as a result of the heat policy.  This was a shame because on the Friday night the Div One and Div Two squad took training along with their usual coaches and passed on some helpful tips to the juniors who were dying to put all their new information into practice.  There was an impressive turnout and the field and bullpen were overflowing with jubilant youngsters.  Go get 'em next week kids.

DIVISION ONE

At home at Don Klaebe Field v Adelaide

WON 4-2 Due to the heat, the game was shortened to seven innings, and in a short game it pays to get runs early.  That is exactly what we did, plating three in the first and one in the second to establish a lead that the Angels could not catch.  This was a direct result of another top pitching effort by Josh Tols who threw five innings for three hits, one base on balls, nine strikeouts and no runs.  He only had eighty-five pitches, and was superbly backed up by his defence.  We got our first three runs from the three lead-off hitters all getting on and scoring, and good heads-up baserunning resulted in our single score in the second.  Adelaide scored a couple near the end in an effort to close the gap, but ran out of time, and we recorded a satisfactory result.  Hits: Ryan Muggleton, Daniel Chapman, Ethan Marchioro 2, Wade Moore, Troy Nicholson, Mitch Fienemann 1.

DIVISION TWO

At home at Don Klaebe Field v Adelaide

Lost 1-5 We couldn't reproduce the fine form we produced last week in beating Port, only managing four hits for the heat shortened game. Joel Chapman, Craig Abbott, Rhys Owen and Andrew Chapman being the only contributors with the bats. Rhys belted a nice double to make the highlights reel, but the boys left him out there, which was the story of the day. One poor innings in the field was all it took to give the opposition the win.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

The late game on Friday night seesawed for most of the night, and we had to get three runs in the last to manage a draw, 9-9. We had to overcome a few problems defensively, but a draw is better than a loss.  Hits: Alyssa Laycock, Darna Veen 2, Sarah McMahon, Carly Moore, Leah Turner 1.

DIV FIVE

Lost 4-13 to Sth Districts.

You could see the improvement from the first pitch, this team is getting into the groove nicely.  Barry Eime showed the way with a great play at third and the boys took heart from that and lifted.  The hitting was much better with Matt Kaponits getting two along with Shane Brown, and Sean Flintoff, David Lodge, Adrian Philps and Josh Bowden one each.

DIV SIX

Back in the winners circle with a pretty comprehensive win over Sturt, who were above us on the ladder, 11-5.  With King K and Sully dominating on the hill and batters crunching them all over the field, the win was inevitable.  Twenty hits says it all. They were Behr, Troy K, Sully, Teaks 3, China, Dorney 2, Cuz, Cam, Scotty, and Nick one each.

DIV SEVEN

Changed tactics this week after giving up leads late in games, and tried the come from behind approach.  Nearly pulled it off, going down 5-9.  This was a good effort.  Hits: Aaron Petros 2, Shane Lavida, Brad Atkinson, Lawrie Sinclair, Craig Mortimore, Noel Watson, Nick McCormack, Derek Milne 1.
