DIVISION ONE

Away v East Torrens 26.11.22

WON 15-7

Tyson McKee was giving absolutely nothing away with three scoreless innings, whilst we got on top of their man in the third when Todd hit,we had a walk, and Troy doubled to bring two home and Callum scored another.  The next innings went forever as we struggled to get an out and gave up five runs to put us on the back foot, but the best was yet to come.  Two runs in the fifth was followed by three in the sixth, one in the seventh and a whopping six in the eighth, as Drew and Cesar kept their hitters at bay.  Some moments  :  Cesar got intentionally walked twice and was also hit by a pitch, Callum had two hits in the one dig after leading off, Troy N put one over the fence to give him bragging rights over Ethan who only managed to hit the top part of the fence.  Hits  : Troy Nicholson (HR), Drew Janssen, Callum Park, Daniel Chapman 2, Ethan Marchioro, Joel Chapman, Todd Dunstall, Troy Weinert 1.

DIVISION TWO

Away v East Torrens 26.11.22

Lost 4-5

We started with a flurry of runs, three in the first, but the Redsox boys evened it up after two.  Rhys got Finners to third and Pappsy scored him, but they came back with two, which was all she wrote.  Next two innings we left loaded bases out there, so a result could have come our way.  Tyson Hancock pitched the first three and Troy W gave up nothing in his stint.  Hits  :  Nick Kuhn, Mitch Fienemann, Rhys Owen 1.

DIVISION THREE

Away v East Torrens 26.11.22

Draw 3-3

A nothing sort of a game for the first seven innings, the score being 1-2 down at this stage.  Joe Papps had done a fine job of containment and Nathan was just as stingy but the eighth started to liven up a bit when Jose hit, Breandan walked and we stole twice to make the most of Lodgy's hit to claw to the lead with two.  That just left the last to close out, but they managed one to draw,  Hits  :  Jose Ramiraz 2, Breandan Taheny, David Lodge, James Chu, Josh Boden 1.

DIVISION SIX

Lost to Goodwood 2-18

DIVISION SEVEN

Defeated Flinders 5-4

A fantastic walk off win with Nicko's final hit bringing in the winning run.  Sully was superb on the mound giving up one run in four digs, well backed up by Casey.  Scores fluctuated all game and the hits were  :  Nicko 4, Sully 2, Cuz, Dorny 1.  Casey and Rev are closing in on Watto for the Ivan.

DIVISION EIGHT

Lost to Glenelg 10-16

The boys did themselves proud after once again starting poorly, giving up the maximum in the first.  The game was even stevens for the rest, so improvement is a real possibility.  Hits  :  Shane Nicholson, Derek Milne, Mike Chemny 2, Aaron Petros, David Ding, Suong Kim 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field v East Torrens 27.11.22

WON 18-4

Darna pitched the entire game in a terrific display and contributed in the batting box as well.  A highlight was in our first at bat, Ash doubled off the first pitch and Darna tripled off the next pitch to really put our stamp on the game.  A welcome home to Louise Pelle (previously Bartle) for a brief period, and also to newby Taylor McKay.  At times during this game we showed a touch of class and never looked to be in any trouble  Hits  :  Ash George, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock 2, Darna BoersVeen, Louise Pelle, Amara Quinn, Leah Turner, Megan BoersVeen, Taylor McKay 1..

DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field v Kensington 25.11.22

WON 9-8

The ladies started off slow v Kensington but finished strong! Coming from 8-2 down and winning 9-8. It was a great team win. Hits: M Askins 1, T Ansell 1, D Ding 1 and Alice shutting it down in 2 innings with 5 strike outs. Di finished with the big green fist, so the delighted grin on her face said it all.

JUNIORS

JUNIOR (U15)

Had another good win, this time away versus Golden Grove to the tune of 23-1.  We hope that they keep up the good work. Great team performance with the two Ollies getting the job done on the mound and Dakota with her acrobatics at home plate.

INTER (U14)

Narrowly lost at the same venue 9-10Coming back from being 8-2 down they nearly came away with a win. Hits: Will 2 Doubles, L Fawcett 1, Anton 1, Bodhi 1, Alice 1 and Dakota .

LL (U13-1)

Went on their winning way, this time knocking off Glenelg 13-1 Hits: Benji 2 doubles, Anton 1H 1Triple, Archie 1H 1 DB, Hugo 1H 1 DB, Max 1H and Remy 1H.

LL (U13-2)

Lost away to Sturt 3-15.

Played well with only eight players, and started the game in style.  Aiden made his pitching debut, and Remy had a go at catching.  Thanks to Bodhi for filling in.

MINOR (U11)

Lost to Glenelg at home 5-9.

Bodhi, Kylah and Miles all pitched well, but the errors in defence proved costly.  Hitting practice recently has shown a vast improvement in that area.

DIVISION ONE

Tuesday twilight at Don Klaebe Field  v  Nth Districts 15.11.22

WON  6-5

Yet another walk-off win after falling behind mid game following a poor inning, where we gifted the opposition a five run frame with throwing errors and sloppy defence.  The game had started as a fair dinkum pitchers contest with Joel sitting them down efficiently, and their guy doing the same until Drew put one over the fence with a two run homer.  So we went to the last trailing 2-5, and their pitcher was relieved, which sent a sigh of relief through our camp.  Troy and Drew both got on base, then Cesar stepped up and scored Troy,  Muggsy got Drew home, a walk helped us out no end and Joey Papps belted one to right field for the walk off - pretty good!  Joel went nearly four, and Tyson McKee and Cesar did the rest.  Hits  :  Troy Nicholson 3, Cesar Perez 2, Drew Janssen (HR), Todd Dunstall, Joe Papps 1.

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field     v     Glenelg     19.11.22     WON 12-2

Its starting to get a bit repetitious, but we walked off this win in the bottom of the seventh, invoking the mercy rule.  After holding them to a duckegg in the first, both Ethan and Troy got on base and jogged home when Cesar launched one straight to the Skidkid's fence, and we followed this up with three more next dig and ditto in the next, with Cesar knocking up getting rbi's.  Rain was interrupting play regularly, and the boys kept their fitness levels up by running out with the covers every couple of innings.  Wade got into the act as well with a nice rbi hit, and we were able to hold them with a regular change of pitchers - namely Tyson McKee, Cesar, Troy N and Drew.  Hits  :  Cesar Perez (HR) 3, Ethan Marchioro, Troy Nicholson, Drew Janssen, Wade Moore, Joel Chapman 2, Luke Rakebrandt, Ryan Muggleton, Daniel Chapman 1.  (A side note : Cesar was looking for his favourite bat pre game, couldn't find it, so used a makeshift one. One home run later, he wouldn't let it out of his hands.)

DIVISION TWO

At Don Klaebe Field     v     Glenelg     19.11.22     Lost 2-3

Started well, with Finners doubling and Pappsy scoring him, but failed to keep the momentum going, and we let them in by conceding three runs in he fifth before the rains came.  Weather cleared, and we just couldn't make up that gap, scoring once more when Joey P crossed the plate.  Joe C toiled manfully for four plus innings and Nathan N closed, but we were left to rue being picked off twice.   Hits  :  Todd Dunstall, Mitch Fienemann, Joe Papps 1.

DIVISION THREE

At Don Klaebe Field     v     Glenelg     19.11.22     Lost 4-9

With Tyson Hancock pounding away on his way to five strikeouts, the early going was tight, and if it hadn't been for a few errors, it could have remained that way.  Kossi was doing his bit, notching up two doubles only to be left out there both times, and Breanden doubled in the last, but the damage had been done, and we recorded a rare loss.  Hits  :  Tyson Jarvis, Jose Ramiraz, Breanden Taheny, Kossi Ikeda, Carly Moore.

DIVISION SIX

Away v Angels

Lost 8-10

A creditable performance with eight men on the diamond on the back of solid pitching by Justin and Andrew.  Hits  :  T. Fawcett, J. Randall, A. Eime 2, L. Sinclair, J. Boden, O. Williams 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Away v Playford

WON 21-0

Against the hapless Playford, our batters took full advantage, none more so than Superbat Watson with five hits, closely followed by four from Sully and the switch-hitting Dorny, three from Nicko, and Nate, Fitzy and Casey one each, whilst Jobu and Rev chimed in with a couple each.  High points - Casey threw his first ever shutout, and Sully firmed as Ivan favourite after being picked off but given safe!!

DIVISION EIGHT

At Don Klaebe Field     v     Adelaide

Lost 3-11

We played really well for the bulk of the game with Ding really coming along with his pitching, but we gave up the maximum seven in the last to make it seem that the game was one sided - which it wasn't - 3-4 down after five innings.  Nearly everyone made the bases, with the hits being  :  Aaron Petros, Greg Oxenham, Tony Tuttle, Mike Chemny 2, Derek Milne, Shane Nicholson, David Ding 1.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

v     Sth Districts at Don Klaebe Field  20.11.22

Lost 3-10

No excuses, we just didn't play to our capabilities, and failed to back up MVP Darna on a number of occasions - sometimes needing five goes to get three outs.  She must have caught a cold standing on second base twice after belting doubles and waiting to be brought home, but no dice.  We rallied a little in the third, scoring two after Darna and Leah made bases, and after the pitching change, Amara was having a problem with the slippery ball and conditions in general, and the visitors went on with the job.  Hits  :  Darna BoersVeen 2, Ash George, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock, Catie Berry 1.

DIVISION TWO

v     Sturt away 18.11.22

Lost 3-15

Playing against a much more experienced H&G at their home ground on Friday night. Hits to Kerryn, Alice, Di and Indie who batted in 2 runs with her hit to centre field. The girls are looking forward to getting out to training this week and playing this Friday nightback at home.

JUNIORS

U 15

Went on their winning way and accounted for Port 17-2 - Oliver Hayes hit a ripper HR, lots of hits throughout the team and a huge effort to Alice for stealing 3 bases to score. Top effort in tough conditions at Port.

U14

Lost to the undefeated Adelaide 1-12.  Our pitchers performed well, with Dakota striking out five and Alice ten.  Riley Sinclair, Will Stock and Alice Brown all had hits.

U13 (1) Lost 1-5

U13 (2)

Lost to East Torrens 1-19.  The pitchers, Riley, Roni and Max battled away with Ruby catching in the mud.  Remy and Jack were good in the field and the hits were Owen 2, Riley, Aiden and Ely 1.

U11

Lost 0-8 against a top side with Kasper hitting and Myles and Kylah sharing the pitching and doing a fine job.

U10

Lost 9-1 to a stronger Adelaide. Lots of determination in this Mini League team.

T-Ball was cancelled due to poor weather.

DIVISION ONE and DIVISION TWO were both scheduled to play Northern Districts away, but, as we all know the weather became diabolical, and we were left staring at muddy playing surfaces and waiting for the eventual downpour, which came king-size.  No play obviously.  Div One has them at home on Tuesday twilight, so we should make the most of it and record another win to keep our momentum going.

DIVISION THREE - had a bye.

DIVISION SIX

Didn't even make it onto the park in their eagerly anticipated contest against Kensington.

DIVISION SEVEN

Got the game in against a Glenelg team and had a good win before the rains came.

DIVISION EIGHT

Top win after conceding five in the first - all after two outs.  Just persistent baseball, with man of the match Soung Kim accounting for five of their outs in two digs while amassing a couple of hits, Shane Nicholson forgetting his old-man's calf injury and helping himself to three rbi's, young Hoony Kim stepping in to his Dad's footsteps, and the rest of the boys just doing their thing.  Come from behind wins are always good, and this was a beauty 11-7.  Hits  :  Shane Nicholson 3, Soung Kim 2, Tony Tuttle, Mike Chemny, Shane Lodge, Matt Davey, Hoony Kim 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE

At Don Klaebe Field Sun 13.11.22 v Glenelg     WON 15-5

So you have to remember that the Bays won the Flag last season, and we have now mercied them twice in a matter of a few weeks.  They took advantage of our poor outfielding in the first to put a run on the board, but the girls responded and for the rest of the game were as mean as they could be.  Our first, and Ash tripled and a Carly sacfly put us on equal terms, then four in the next on the back of Amara's two rbi hit followed by the first of SMacks two rbi's for the day, and then scoring the maximum five in both of the next two innings made it hard for them to come back, as Darna was well on top, and Amara wasn't going to let them off the hook when she nailed them in the last.  Heckling from the opposition bench was countered by some smiles and a little cheeky wiggling.  Hits  :  Sarah McMahon, Darna Boers-Veen 3, Ash George 2, Carly Moore, Amara Quinn,  Alyssa Lasscock, Skye Tasiopolous 1.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Sturt 11.12.22

Lost 10-12

Really, really a bit stiff here.  After leading late in the game, our girls were subjected to a Div One pitcher coming on to the shortened pitching distance, and were unable to keep the scoring going.  Anyway, I'm sure the experience will hold them all in good stead for the future as they play a brand of baseball of which we can all be proud.

JUNIORS

I 15 (Junior League)

Went on their undefeated way with a win against Goodwood 15-3. Alice Brown 2 dbl and single, Oliver Hayes dbl and single, Diesel 2 and Will, Indie, Jack and Matthew 1.

U14 (Inter League)

First win for the team 27-8 against Gawler in which Felix (six strikeouts) and Luke (five) pitching all game to Bodhi, set the scene for some fine hitting  -  Jasmine Fawcett, Caleb Sinclair 3, Riley Sinclair, Riki-Lee Oxenham, Orlando Holyoak, Felix Oliver 2, Luke Fawcett, Xavier Gower, Bodhi Foward1.

U13 -1  (LL)

Lost 6-7 to port in a game that went down to the wire.  Our pitchers, namely Archie, Chace and Remy all were terrific on the mound, and the hits were  ;  Remy Brooks 2, Anton Kumar (HR), Luke Fawcett, Benji Hayes 1.

U13  -2  (LL)

Lost 4-19 v E Torrens

U11 (Minor League)

Had a terrific win over Port 5-4. Seesawing game that saw us go to the lead only to be reeled in and then find the run necessary to take the win. Kylah was the star pitcher, and good disciplined batting at the crucial times got us the win.  Hits  : Myles 2 and Kylah 1. U10 (Mini) Went to Goodwood and came home losing narrowly 5-9.  Good times had by all.

Our teeballers had a hitout against their Port counterparts, and all had a great time.  That's what it is all about.
