DIVISION ONE
Away v Goodwood 15/10/22
WON 9-6
Great, tight game that could have gone either way at the end, but now, two weeks in a row, we have found the resourcefulness to stick our noses in front at the right time and leave the opposition relenting. They got the jump on Tolsy in a longish first dig and put two on the board, but he quickly put the shutters up and conceded no more in his stint of four innings. A combination of walks and hits put us in position to score and DChap put up a sac fly for our first, and after they got a couple more we scored six in two innings with another sac fly off the bat of DChap, a Kieran Pett double and a Cesar RBI. The defence really cranked up a notch at this stage and we pitched Cesar, Troy N and Todd Van Steensell in quick rotation. It got a bit worrying for a short time when they managed two runs in the bottom of the eighth to creep within one but the game was put to rest in the last with a two run homer from Cesar and Todd sat them down in the bottom of the inning for the win. No hits recorded for DChap (he just kept getting caught on the fence) but his contribution was significant. Hits: Ethan Marchioro, Cesar Perez (HR), Joel Chapman 3, Wade Moore, Kieran Pett, Callum Park 1. Huge congratulations to Josh Tols who clocked up 300 games for the Senators.. Fantastic effort, considering all the International games he has played overseas over many years.
DIVISION TWO
Away v Goodwood 15/10/22
WON 2-1
Another tough affair with no scoring until the fourth when they sneaked one. We equalled in the next and went to the lead next dig when we had one out, first and second occupied and a Hazza line drive to right field posted our last and winning run. We were well served on the mound with Joe Chapman going four and Nathan closing them down in the last few Two wins on the trot and looking good. Hits : A lean day - one each to Todd Dunstall, Nick Kuhn and Harry Kiss.
DIVISION THREE
Away v Goodwood 15/10/22
WON 5-3
A David Lodge double was just what we needed to get us mobile in the first and we snuck away to a two run lead, and with Tyson keeping them scoreless until the last, we were coasting. However there were a few hiccups- three times in the game we left bases loaded, and when they managed three runs in the last, the nerves kicked in. Josh Boden's ground out RBI was important as it gave us breathing space. Hits : David Lodge, Ikeda Kosuke, Tyson Jarvis, Toby Kortekaas, Josh Boden 1.
DIVISION SIX
at Home v H & G
Lost 1-13
Unfortunately ran into a team dropping down a few grades from previous seasons and found the task daunting.. No worries - we'll get 'em next time. Hits : Flash, Aldo 1 each.
DIVISION SEVEN
Away v Kensington Won 7-4
A combination of "oldies" and newbies put together a powerhouse, and on the back of strong pitching from the hill by Casey Moore to Cam, what could go wrong? Jono and Di contributed in their first outings, but what is a Magellan and Ivan ?? Hits : Watto (Superbat), Nicko, Hulk, Jobu and China.
DIVISION EIGHT
Away v Sth District
WON 18-2
Really put to bed their loss from the previous week, with a resounding win. All played well as the old saying goes, and it is born out by the amount of hits - sixteen in all. Dave Ding did a great job of pitching, and the hits were : Shane Nicholson 4, Matt Davey 3, Derek Milne, Phil Perkinson 2, Aaron Petros, Greg Oxenham, Tony Tuttle, Dave Ding, Mike Chemny 1.
WOMEN'S LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Away v Sth Districts
Lost 5-13
Quite a difference from last week's thumping of Glenelg. We had a few changes, and the line-up was altered, but we made too many basic errors in all departments. We scored first, but then gave up ten runs in two innings to get completely on the back foot, before having a glimmer of hope with three runs to look a little respectable. The scorebook was bleeding red at this stage. No immediate concern, the wise coaching heads will have answers. Hits : Amarna Quinn, Sarah McMahon, Alyssa Lasscock, Darna Boers-Veen 1.
JUNIORS
We had six Junior teams take to the diamond today and we finished with a fifty-fifty result. The winning teams were Under 11 defeating Southern Hawks 1-0, the Little League (1) beating Kensington 14-4 and the U15's downig Port 28-3. The guys on the losing list were U10's down to H & G 0-8, U13(2) 4-17 to Nth Dist and the U14's who went down to Sth Dist 8-10. Hope to have a more comprehensive report on the juniors in coming weeks when we co-ordinate with the scorers etc.
