ROUND ELEVEN

DIVISION ONE vs Kensington away

Lost 2-13

We got off to a pretty good start by putting one on the board in the first with Todd and Ethan both hitting, and held this lead until the fourth with Rhett keeping their big hitters quiet.  A couple of errors gave them three in the fourth, but we were not prepared for the onslaught that occurred next dig.  They piled on ten with power hitting - two two run homers and plenty of big hits.  Rhett sat down and it was left to Ethan to weather the storm. A late run to us after Ethan and Gary both hit, but the game was called after seven.  Over the last four games we have faced Goodwood, Glenelg, Sturt and Kensington - all last year's finalists - for a 2/2 result.  The talent is there, perhaps the consistency is not yet.  Hits  :  Ethan Marchioro 2, Todd Dunstall, Gary Owens, Tom Dineen, Jackson Sowton and Harrison Kiss 1 - his first hit in Div One - congratulations.

DIVISION TWO vs Kensington away

Lost 5-6

Once again we got off to a flyer with Jacko hitting and getting pushed all the way around, and two more in the second saw their pitcher off.  Troy was killing them with great pitching and picking off, but then, the old enemy, errors, gave them three to equallise.  A huge home run by Troy quietened their vocal bench for a while, and we got in front courtesy of the two coaches (Richard and Troy).  What happened next defies description - Kensington scored the required runs for the victory amid huge confusion at home plate, but you take nothing away from the superb effort of Harrison Kiss in this game - two singles and a double.  We once again left too many runners stranded which is a worrying trait.  Hits  :  Harrison Kiss 3, Troy Nicholson 2, Jackson Sowton, Brayden Marchioro, Richard Olson, Jarrod Marsland 1.

DIVISION FOUR

Gave a much improved performance in going down to the strong H&G outfit 3-8

DIVISION SIX

Won an entertaining game against Adelaide 10-7, a game in which everybody contributed with the bat, and Behr and Knuckles did the job from the hill.  Hits  :  Steve Couzner 4, James Stradling 3, Grant Behrendt, Andrew Sullivan, Cameron Britcher, Tim Fawcett 2, Brett Teakle, Nick McCormack 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Played Adelaide and lost 2-13, in a game that was there for the taking, but leaving ten runners on base didn't help.  Casey Moore made a welcome return to pitching and the hits were one each to Derek Milne, Casey Moore, Shane Nicholson, Nick McCormack, Tim Russell and Aldo McCormack got two.

UNDER 17's

Under the guidance of Gary Owens went up to Golden Grove and were comfortable winners 9-5.  The boys are making for a finals spot, and so far, looking ok.  Johnny VonSenden pitched, and Cody Tape got two his, with Blake O'Brien, Harrison Kiss and Johnny VonSenden each bagging one.

UNDER 13's fell agonisingly short of victory by one run against Kensington 12-13. Toby Kortekaas pitched well and had two hits, whilst Ben Bynoe and Katya Schmakar had two and Zach Stanmeyne one.

UNDER 11's defeated Southern Blues 9-3 in what appeared to be a good contest.

UNDER 9's

Had a great game against Glenelg and won 37-32 in what was obviously a run fest. These early morning starts are OK for the parents when the coffee kicks in, and the kids take it in their stride.  They are really improving their skills, both in hitting and in general play. The stars were Lily, Ella, James, Sienna, Poppy, Royce, Kylah and Tucker.
