ROUND FIVE

DIVISION ONE Away v Port Adelaide 8.11.20

WON 8-3

After a very intense week on the track, the boys were raring to go against Port.  Josh Tols was on the mound and when he had completed his five innings, he walked off with no runs against his name and eight strikeouts, having bamboozled the Port hitters. We had to wait until the fourth to score, and we got the run on Daniel's hit and Nathan's base running, and our second two digs later from a Mitch sac bunt and a couple of hits.  But we exploded in the seventh with four runs when Muggsy tripled to score two, and Troy and Daniel each hit for a further two, and then two more in the eighth when Troy's double got one and a big sac fly from Mitch brought another home.  Port got a couple of consolation runs in the last.  Our defence was tight all day, and we only used the two pitchers with Joel Chapman doing the honours for the last four.  Hits: Daniel Chapman 3, Troy Nicholson, Mitch Fienemann 2, Wade Moore, Ryan Muggleton, Nathan Nicholson, Braydon Marchioro 1.

DIVISION TWO Away v Port Adelaide 8.11.20

WON 7-2 We scored steadily, having only one scoreless innings, with Tyson Hancock proving too good for the Port boys for five solid innings.  Almost all players hit well, especially young gun Harrison Kiss and Carly Moore, who took the catch of the day at right field in the third.  The defensive work was terrific, with all chipping in.  Hits: Carly Moore, Harrison Kiss 2, Ryan Muggleton, Daniel Chapman, Tom Dineen, Jimmy Chu 1.

DIV FIVE

Showed a lot of improvement with the bat, scoring five runs, but lost in the end to Port 5-12, with Sean Flintoff, Alex Black, David Lodge and Owen Williams all registering one hit each.

DIV SIX

Came up against an in form Glenelg, and had a couple of poor innings, giving up nine runs before losing 0-10.  These guys are better than that and will no doubt bounce back with a vengeance.  Hits: Cuz and Nick got two each, and China and Knuckles one a piece.

DIV SEVEN  Had the game in their grasp at 8-4 going into the last, but for the third week in a row, had a lousy last dig and clambered a draw 8-8.  They had played really well earlier, with Brad Atkinson hitting at will, and Casey keeping them quiet from the hill, showing that they are capable of winning any game.  Hits: Brad Atkinson 4, Aaron Petros, Lawrie Sinclair, Tim Russell 2, Casey Moore, Craig Mortimore, Shane Lodge 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Played Friday night on the cold and windy back diamond at West Beach and had a good win over the Saints 5-3, with Sarah and Darna sharing pitching duties.  Looking good ladies.  Hits: Sarah McMahon 2, Carly Moore, Rachel Coutie, Alyssa Lasscock, Catie Berry, Kenzi St.George 1.

JUNIOR TEAMS  Juniors (U15)

Lost to the Tigers 2-12 with Lachlan Stock getting a hit.

LL (U13) Woodville

For the second time this season, Noah hit a three run homer, and contributed in the field along with Alesha.

LL (U13) Senators

Had a good win 13-11 in a bit of a scrappy affair in which we ran the bases well.  Ollie and Alice pitched.

Minors (U11)

Had an almost unheard of 0-0 draw. The birthday boy Remy pitched, along with Chase. the defence was terrific, and Archie hit a two bagger.

Peewee (U9)

Bubbly energy, with Ollie, James and Seb showing out.  Defense work is really on the improve.
