DIVISION ONE - had a bye
DIVISION TWO - Away vs Gawler
WON 8-2
On a stinking hot day in Gawler and in a game subsequently shortened to ninety minutes, we prevailed and had a handy win. We got a couple early due to opportunism and a lack of awareness by the locals, but then left runners on for the next few innings. The bats woke up in the fourth when Ryan's bleeder put him on first, and Brayden's hit, Jimmy Chu's double and Wade's double all brought in runs. One of their big blokes put one over at this stage after Deuce was relieved, but the scare was short lived, as we went on our merry way with Will hitting a welcome double (the smiles lit up the diamond). He got home on a wild throw, then Jacko picked himself up a double bagger and Deuce knocked in a RBI. A very comprehensive win. Hits: Jimmy Chu 2, Brayden Marchioro,Wade Moore, Will Kortekaas, Fan Deyuu, Jackson Sowton 1.
DIVISION FOUR
Not feeling a lot of joy at the moment scorewise, but putting up a fair dinkum effort every week, and went down to Phil Hirchausen's Golden Grove outfit.
DIVISION SIX
Had a really competitive game against the Bays and came away 10-6 winners on the back of Marso and Sully's pitching and good solid hitting - no details unfortunately. The boys got their noses in front early and led 3-0, but Glenelg fought back and went to a one run lead. Then we produced a seven run dig, and put the game away, keeping our ladder spot looking good.
DIVISION SEVEN
Without the injured Coach, the boys were looking for a win to put it up him, but against the ever stealing Flinders, it was not to be. We left too many stranded to be in contention, but had a moment when Morty Snr came on to pitch. Sick of this eternal stealing, he used his experience to pick one off, and wipe a smile or two off their faces. We lost 0-8, with the lack of hitting not helping, only Nick McCormack (2) and Derek Milne (1) contributing.
WOMEN'S LEAGUE
Lost to Goodwood 9-14.
Got away to a flyer with the maximum allowed five in the first but the Goody girls caught up and won in the end with what has been described as a lucky play. Oh well - win some, lose some. Hits: I know Carly got one, Louise also and Alyssa, and Darna got two with a home run, but, I'm sorry, my writing late on Saturday night at the Band Night has let me down. There was a couple of others who I can't decipher.
All junior games on the Sunday were cancelled due to the heat policy.
