DIVISION ONE - At Don Klaebe Field v Henley & Grange
Lost 6-8
We kicked off with Josh Tols on the mound pitching two tight innings, and it was a nil-all ballgame going into the fourth. We leaked five runs, with the Rams being aggressive on the bases, and they managed a couple more in the seventh to put us in real trouble at 0-7. But in the eighth, after Brayden and Ethan got on base, the 400 game man, Wade Moore, put a bomb over to score three, and the boys kept the momentum going, with Ryan, Troy, Mitch, Craig and Tom all hitting to make it a six run inning. Wade had to do something spectacular to please his fan base of female baseballers and they were all highly appreciative of his efforts, and certainly made a racket. Henley scored one more, and we had a scoreless last dig to go down by two. The three double plays that the Rams' made against us didn't help. Hits: Wade Moore (HR) 3, Troy Nicholson 2, Ryan Muggleton, Mitch Fienemann, Craig Abbott, Brayden Marchioro, Ethan Marchioro, Tom Dineen 1.
DIVISION TWO - At Don Klaebe Field v Henley & Grange
Lost 3-4 That one run deficit really hurts. We were one run down going into the fourth with Tyson Hancock going great guns on the mound, and we all thought we had equalised with a Ryan Muggleton home run over left-field - but called foul. But we didn't record our first hit for the game until we were 0-4 in the sixth, then scrambled three runs to go close. Hits: Tom Dineen 2, Todd Dunstall, Wade Moore 1.
DIV FIVE
Played West Torrens and finished up on the wrong side of the ledger.
DIV SIX
Had a reasonably good win over the Reds 8-3, with all the regulars putting in. Just easing their way into the season, with many more wins in sight hopefully.
DIV SEVEN
Also had a win 11-10 against Northern Districts, but gave us all a fright at the death, with a six run lead going into the last being whittled away. But they deserved their win, with superior play throughout the game. That's two on the trot, and with Casey Moore showing the way from the hill, and the batters hitting consistently. Brad Atkinson proved to be a thorn in the side of the Reds, as did Craig, Derek and Azza. Tim scored his first RBI.
WOMAN'S LEAGUE
That's better girls - a win. 6-0 against good opposition in Goodwood. Back in the winner's circle again after a shock loss previously. The hits came from Carly with two triples, Darna with a triple and a single, and Sarah hit two singles. Rachel did her driver.
JUNIOR LEAGUE (u15)
Lost 5-13 made some good defensive plays, but the hitting went missing.
MINOR LEAGUE (u13)
Tim Fawcett's team of little champs had a nail-biting 6-5 win. Jason, Felix, Remy, Luke and Anton all hit, and Remy struck out the last three bats with bases loaded to take the game.
LITTLE LEAGUE (u11)
Woodville - lost 10-16 but finished on a high with Noah starring with a grand-slam. We have discovered a new catching prodigy, with Will debuting and doing a great job, tagging out four runners.
Senators - lost 12-20 but unearthed a gun pitcher in Alice Brown. Plenty of stolen bases and good attacking play, but defence needs bolstering. It will happen.
Peewee League starts next Sunday.
