DIVISION ONE vs Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 5.01.20
Lost 1-12
We all know Sturt's hitting potential, and they put one over in the first just to confirm the fact. Gary likewise in the second to record our only run for the day, but we held them well for the next four innings with Nathan Nicholson keeping them under a tight reign, before their hitting power came to the fore and they amassed eight runs in the next two, errors assisting Sturt. Nathan gave way to his brother Troy, who in turn gave Rhett a shot, and Ethan closed. We only had the four hits, and we put people on bases often enough, but couldn't get them home. Hits: Gary Owens (HR) 2, Nathan Nicholson, Wade Moore 1.
DIVISION TWO vs Sturt at Don Klaebe Field 5.01.20
Lost 8-9
After the overnight rain, the ground crew had the diamond ready in pristine condition for a start, and we powered away with three runs after Wade's first of two doubles for the game scored two. They whittled us back one run at a time, then got another three to hit the lead in the fourth, but good running by Travis Joblin got us closer and in the last we scored two to be one behind, and were a bit stiff in the end not to bring home the bacon. We have dropped behind the leaders on the ladder, and will have to knuckle down and fight hard for the rest of the season to play finals. Hits: Wade Moore 3, Richard Olson, Harrison Kiss, Ethan Marchioro 1.
DIVISION FOUR vs Adelaide @ DSP
Lost 0-8
The boys got a chance to play at the Headquarters of SA Baseball at West Beach, and whilst beaten, put up a creditable performance and were unlucky not to score a few runs. There are a few older heads in the team giving guidance to the others, and it is looking so much better. Hits: Blake, Josh and Miles all had a hit each, and Miles took a blinder of a catch at centre field, worthy of anything seen at a Giants game.
No juniors this week, but I caught up with the results from the last U11's game played before Christmas when they defeated Sth. Districts 9-3. Nathan hit two doubles, and Dakota and Noah each hit one double, while Oliver had two hits and Jacob one. The pitching was a treat, with Oliver and Lincoln each striking out four, and Archie three.
